God of War 4 leaked via resume

Ok so if no one is interested in the game why play it? Or why care. And I don't understand if you played all the games why would you not want another? Wouldn't that infer that you are really into the series? I mean hell if you played all five that means you have a PS2, PS3 and PSP. That's pretty hardcore. Hell I am a HUUUUGE GOW fan and I don't even have a PSP or have played the PSP games and I'm hella excited for another GOW. They are just very good games IMO and it's clear they are made by passionate people.

Anyways, no one probably even read the above so let me just post my reaction to the news in gif form:

That tumblr account from the last gif is a goldmine.

I would rather play Haze again than suffer the intense lack of emotional investment of god of war 3 ever again.

I don't care that it's gameplay is the same as the previous one. I do not want to play a sociopath's dream that even goes out of its own way to validate that behaviour and other nonsense. I (genuinely) feel that God of War 3 is probably the worst game I've ever played.

If the ending wasn't a complete and utter cop-out I might have been able to tolerate it (art is violence, according to some critics), but good lord at Kratos completely going out of character for a fucking pinnokio and into 'hiiiii-iiigh hopes' mode. Horrible, just horrible.

And to add insult to injury, videogame journalists 'of course' called this "good story". Pfff.

So, not a junior. :P

Well it's a good thing your opinion =/= fact, so there's no insult or injury :)

Possibly, but the after the credits to God of War 3, it seem to point to "not finished".

the hell? everyone friggin died at the end of the game, whats there to be told? well cept athena but she's dead 2 games ago.

I love the GOW series because of how unapologetic it is. For that reason, I was a little disappointed by the ending of GOW3, even though I loved the game. I don't need Kratos to kill Jesus, but how about just messing him up a little?

I look forward to it.

GoW III is one of the best games released this gen. God of War reboot with Move integration would be very cool. They're definitely not going to let the millions invested in creating assets for GoW III go to waste.

What was "abysmal" with it in your opinion?
The story was garbage, the "ending" was garbage, every boss after Cronos was shitty, the Labyrinth was way too long, drawn out and boring. I thought the first half of the game was pretty fun, but yea after that the game went downhill fast. I did play it right after I beat Bayonetta though, that probably has something to do with it. Bayonetta is vastly superior.

no you don't, but story is the least important in games like GOW, NG, DMC, Bayonetta. The most important aspects are combat mechanic, game performance (framerate), enemies AI. Those 3 are what make or break action game.

But God of War's combat is markedly worse than NG, DMC, or Bayonetta. There are a lot of options, but it lacks precision. It's better than average, but not standout.

And God of War 3 failed in terms of plot more significantly than even Bayonetta did. God of War 1 did a good job, I thought, of building sympathy for a violent, anti-heroic character. The game developed him effectively, and provided just enough of a glimpse into his life to paint him as something beyond a mere psychopath. God of War 2 threw all that out, but it didn't really rub our faces in the consequences of his actions or attempt to portray him as a nice guy at any point, so it was a fun romp.

In God of War 3, Kratos is actively destroying the world as he takes out Olympus (as the game goes out of its way to show), and then the game expects us to believe that he deserves some sort of redemption. The last part of the story was such a load of crap, it was insulting. Bayonetta's plot was bloated, but it had a lot more self-awareness, and at least some of the primary players were likable.

I have no interest at all in a God of War 4 that follows from the end of 3.

Don't know if I should be excited about the possibility of this. Didn't really care for God of War III at all, when I loved I and II. Kind of wish Ready at Dawn would be making 4, since Chains of Olympus was so rad. I seriously need to purchase Ghost of Sparta sometime soon, looks mad insane.

As far as the story is concerned, I actually think the story of Kratos is done and there will be a new protagonist in GOW 4. There really isn't anyone left for Kratos to kill honestly and the GOW team consistently had the stance that the Kratos story arc ended with GOW3.

Now when Jaffe and Corey were still on the game they had intended to continue the story beyond GOW3. I believe Jaffe's story had Kratos defeating Zues which ripped a whole in space time and through the portal Kratos realized that there were other Gods Norse, Roman, etc. Jaffe intened him to defeat all the Gods in existence which ultimately leads to the rise of God and Jesus and Christianity blah blah. Hence the 3 wise mean mural in GOW 2 hinting at the future.

I think Corey was going to have Kratos become death after defeating all the Gods and his chain blades would turn into a sycthe. Less over the top than Jaffe's idea.

Anyways, none of those will happen although I'd love to play out Jaffes' story. GOW4 will be pretty much brand new s far as the gameplay, story and main character me thinks.

Can't I just play as a screaming, violent, god-killing psychopath? Why do you have to try to humanize him, especially when said attempts at humanization completely contradict absolutely everything else we've seen him do?
Because people can change. That's the power of LOVE!!!!!!!!!!

Well it looks like Kratos isn't really
dead...But all the gods except Aphrodite are dead and all the Titans of any importance are dead too. What the heck is left for him to do?

Whatever he'll be doing next, it will probably have the prettiest graphics this gen.

Prequel. Start as child Kratos, join army, go to bootcamp, conquer people, start puberty, fuck bitches, get money, climb the ranks, ending of game is climactic battle in which he calls upon Ares to save him. Builds on existing formula by adding RTS elements and kart races. (The karts look like chariots.)

Guys, haven't played any god of wars and was wondering if I jump straight to god of war3 will I miss alot?

IMO, you will. The Collection is cheap enough to give the other 2 a go.

If they don't try to force Greek mythology in unnaturally, it'll have to be Nordic mythology. I'd venture to say that they are more notable than any other mythology

loved the pretty graphics in gow3... but 2 was such a better game overall.

cant wait to see what they have in store for 4

i watched some videos on what the team cut from 1,2 and 3 before release - those vids make me very sad..

Killing God's from other mythologies... El Shaddai?

The Judeo-Christian God (especially in the Old Testament) would make for a prime final boss. I always liked the Gnostic interpretation of that God as a deranged and deluded being that falsely belived itself to be God and would go to any length to secure its place as such.

Also, someone should get around to making a game out of the Bhagavad Gita. Lot's of awesome characters getting around.

i'd be willing to bet we get an NGP side story before a true console GoW4.
I'm (not so) secretly hoping that it will be one of the first big games to show off the PS3 -> NGP downporting of full HD games to the handheld. CoO and GoS both are damn near full-GoW titles, so I'd imagine it's very do-able.

You should really check out 1 and 2, especially 2, cause I feel it's by far the best entry in the series. But that's open for discussion. It's also cool to see the major graphical jump.

Just play all of them.

After the first game I had grand visions of any sequels tacking myths and folklore from all sorts of other races, Norse, Celtic, Indian, native American, eygptian. Using each of their gods of war

I wonder if we get to kill some Christian or Muslim gods this time. The Greek Olympus has been subject to repeated genocide so many times...
Would be nice, but christian und muslim gods tend to overlap and there aren't so many there, so the game would be quite short (even if they separated jahwe and alah, they'd only have jahwe, jesus, holy spirit, alah and maybe mohammed (though afaik they don't say he's a god, too) at max). If they included all the miniscule ones (the "holy" people, katholicism has generated over time) that could help though.

Business website Linkedin has provided a small piece of information which suggests that God of War 4 is in development, or at least in pre-production.

I'm in shock! Who would've thought that they gonna release another God of War!

It needs to happen. Traditionally Sony first party games first iterations on the consoles are less polished and technically adept. Same went for the original GOW, same for most of Sony's big first party efforts this time (U1 to U2, KZ2 to KZ3 etc). Can'y wait to see what Santa Monica pull off with this.
