"Cannon Fodder Clones"? I can't think of an example prior to that.

You're not wrong. Detailed 2D with great art > mediocre 3D.Minsc said:Missed out on it entirely, but the screens from the listing look pretty nice, there aren't too many pre-rendered isometric westerns, should be fun.
Edit: Is it wrong that I think the 2001 original looks better than the 2006 sequel? How do the two play?
Joseph Merrick said:not played the steam versions, but should work fine there as well. check the forums to see if anyone's had any problems running those versions maybe. dunno
Joseph Merrick said:played desperados 2 and helldorado btw? the weird 3d engine they have in those is pretty awesome, it looks and feels like the 2d. but it's 3d.. (uh yeah, haha) and can zoom in. it just looks really weird and cool. love both of those. their robin hood legend of sherwood game is also fantastic, too bad that hasn't got any sequels. all of these should be on download sites, maybe steam, are on gamersgate and gamesplanet at least.

Yeah, it plays almost exactly like Commandos. The only major difference is that you can set up a sequence of actions, so there's a little more 'teamwork'. And I think it features more story / in-game cut scenes than Commandos -- but it's been forever since I played them.Minsc said:Missed out on it entirely, but the screens from the listing look pretty nice, there aren't too many pre-rendered isometric westerns, should be fun.
Versipellis said:Desperados is a good Commandos clone, but, IIRC, missions soon become too much action-y for my tastes. Having just a few men (and a woman), you should try to be as stealthy as possible, but there are times you are forced to kill dozens of people (soldiers/bandidos). And for that you don't need any strategic planning (most of the times, you just hide behind a corner with two men and kill everyone passing by).

GuiltybyAssociation said:But yeah, anyway, Blood. Man! This game is godlike. Nice and fast, nice and challenging. I love the lead character, I love the dark art style and I especially love the "OOOH!" and fountain of blood that errupts as I unload both shells into a zombie's chest. It's even got shout outs to Return of the Living Dead, my favorite horror film. Oh man, hah. I am not too fond of the ghetto mouse look stuff (I tried the mods Minsc linked to, nothing worked aside from the Doom / Blood hybrid thing, which ... eh), but otherwise, it's all spectacular. Can't believe I've never played this before. I love older Doom-like games and I love Monolith, I should have given this a spin much earlier. Ah well, better late than never.
Hello,
The rest of the game will be available the moment it is released. This will happen on May 16, 10 PM GMT and, to my knowledge, is the fastest you can get The Witcher 2 anywhere, at least as far as digital distribution is concerned. Having almost the entire game on your drive at that point helps a lot, too.![]()

UPDATED: So if you read this post earlier (or if you scroll down and read it now) youll see that we announced that the site update was going to be tomorrow, and that the site was going to be down. We figured, given our kind of rocky history with site updates, that you guys might like to know in advance.
Good news, then! Were giving you more advance notice than we thought. It turns out that there are a few pernicious bugs with the new GOG downloader that we need to fix, so were pushing back the site update until the 35th of April (to keep things still as promised as late April) or, if youre determined to stick with your Gregorian calendar, the fifth of May.
Were still on schedule to have a game release tomorrow, but because were shifting our schedule around to reflect the changes wrought by moving the site update there wont be a game on Thursday. On the bright side, well be seeing a new and improved version of an old friend back on the site Thursday, and man do we ever have a great week-long promo starting for you guys tomorrow.

Have 2 HardDisks with 2 OS´s. Why? Because i use one for games only, so i don't have to install unnecesary programs in relation to games. Like for example anti virus or productivity software. I don't even go online with the HardDisk thats dedicated to games.
So when downloading the Witcher 2, i'll be in the other harddisk (the one not dedicated to games.) So once the download is complete will i be able to install in the OS thats dedicated to gaming and doesnt connect to the net?
Hope i was clear, if not i could try to explain myself further.
MSE? Whats that?Minsc said:Looks like D&D: Dragonshard is todays release. Looks like something I might enjoy, an RTS mixed with D&D elements, wonder if it was any good.
You could just buy a SSD, use MSE and a modern, multi-core CPU... no performance hit
Be that as it may, GOG's version is DRM-free. No SecureROM, so no need for a net connection at all once you've downloaded it. The online-check upon installation is part of the SecureROM DRM in all the other versions.
MSE is Microsoft Security Essentials. MS' own antivirus program (also free).Refreshment.01 said:MSE? Whats that?
Anyway, did cdP started preloading? I might preorder as soon as the credit allows.
Ok, not net. But does GoG use an a general installer? Or it'll be in an EXE in one of the Witcher 2 files?

Sh!t! In my defence i tought he was refering to a program that let the user use the SSD as a cahe to supplement the mechanical hard disk.kurtrussell said:

Snagged up The Guild and Darkfall 1. The Chaser is apparently also good but I haven't had the time to play it yet.kswiston said:JoWood collection is up to 75% off. 60% off for individual games. One last hurrah before the publisher closes?
