GOG News and Updates 2013

Played Chaos Engine (Soldier of Fortune on Sega Genesis) back in the early 90's and loved it. However the most recent review on gog.com has me thinking I'll wait for a price drop rather than buy now and add to my backlog mountain.
 
wow, what a nice old classic release. I actually expected LucasArts to be added before this given Harlan Ellison's previous well-known tightfisted behavior regarding licensing rights to his works.
 
I've heard about this game for a long time. Although I generally don't mind dark games, this one seems a bit too grim dark for me.
 
Also probably the only good game CyberDreams ever released.

I mean, I like Darkseed 2, but only ironically (Mike Dawson went from a normal guy to the world's biggest pansy), while the first one is rather BS in its difficulty - if you don't adhere to a very rigid timeline of doing specific events at specific times, you will lose. Noir is mostly inoffensive, just kinda boring.
 
I hope the good people at GOG see that while selling indies is a good investment for the future, their bread and butter is and always will/should be the "classics".

I wonder whether it might be worth GOG's time/resources to actually pursue some of these IPs themselves. For example, some of those Atari properties didn't sell for too much money relative to what one would think.

I'm certainly happy Night Dive is helping with games like IHNMAIMS and SS2. Keep them coming.
 
I hope giantbomb gives I have no Mouth a play, always seemed incredibly interesting but I'm not sure if I have the constitution to struggle through that kind of 'old school' ui at the moment.

Still bought it, gog deserves some support for getting it up.

Some good sales in the mix and match. Though sadly none that interest me. Hope they do the same soon with some of the old school games.

I have to admit, I seem to remember being disappointed by the first game, although I'm not quite sure why. It had, sort of, far more locations than it felt it needed, with the actual interesting playable content spread kinda thinly over it.

That said, HoF was great ("YOU WOULDN'T KNOW IAMBIC PENTAMETER IF IT BIT YOU ON THE ARSE!"), and while I've not played Malcolm's Revenge, I've heard good things about it too, so I hope that this means those two are also in the pipeline.
 
Awesome, second big P&C release in as many weeks.

I didn't much care for it myself either, not only for the vast number of screens but the equally vast number of items. Being able to drop them anywhere and pick them back up was technically cool but probably not a great idea either

I assume that most everyone has them by now, but in case you don't and are on the fence, my personal picks for this sale are Thief™ Gold and especially Thief™ 2: The Metal Age, two of my favorite games of all time. Also, Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2.
 
Also, Volgarr the Viking and the Cognition season pass (which isn't *terribly* meaningful any more, given the final episode is out next week; you're pretty much just prepurchasing the full game at this stage!) are up.

Somehow the GoG news post about Cognition manages to not mention Jane Jensen at all, which is impressive. Still, I think I'll bite - I've been wanting Cognition for a while but been slightly stymied by it not being on the two services I use the most, and frequently *just* missing it on sale on the others.

I finally broke down and bought it during this last huge summer sale, I think it was 80% off and $1.49 because it was the last game I didn't own out of that day's Square selection. If it were me,I would probably wait for the upcoming December Holiday sale and another special Square sliding scale deal.
 
Totally in for Volgarr - game looks sweet. I'm also glad they didn't make us wait a few weeks after the Steam release for the DRM-free version.

Now if we can just get Super House of Ninjas on here, too...

It looks to me that this isn't going to be the only gift we will be getting over the next month or so, as mentioned at the bottom of this weeks special week long "Pick 5" Promo News release. I am also hoping for four more weeks of "Pick 5" promos, they are my favorite type of promotion that GOG has done so far.

Pick 5 Promo is just the beginning of our big birthday celebration. GOG.com is turning FIVE, and we have five weeks of promos, gifts, contests, and specials with a Grand Finale in the middle of October.

You think these freebies will cease being free after a while, then, or are they gonna be free for the long haul?
