The bundle promos end soon, but I think somewhere they said the rest of the 50% discounts will last until 15:00 GMT.

i wish one day such a drm free service would offer the latest games

I've been meaning to get a little more accurate gauge on the number of older titles still being released since the increase in indie/newer games. If we call a release old if it's ~10+ years from the original release date, looking back the past two years saw roughly:

2011: 60 older releases, 26 newer releases
2012: 68 older releases, 95 newer releases

So hopefully we continue to see a large number of older titles despite a sharp increase of newer ones. It's definitely one of the bigger draws of the site for me, seeing all the classic games re-released that normally wouldn't get much attention elsewhere. Newer games tend to run more of a risk of already being owned on Steam or another service, and indie games tend to end up in humble bundles for a few bucks.

Useful if the game had abhorrent DRM though: I already had Riddick through D2D, but it was well worth rebuying on GOG just to be rid of the DRM.

I just impulse bought the Ultima pack. Where do I start?
I'm going to start with the first due to my chronology obession. But I guess Ultima IV could be an interesting starting point. Read Hardcore Gaming 101 article on the series to get the general idea on each game. :)

I bought an on-disc Ultima Collection (1-6) back when everything was being shoved on CD-ROM largely Because They Could. I recall being just about okay with 1 (which was in the revamped EGA form), but I struggled to get a foothold in 2 or 3 (in original CGA form).

That's slightly odd, for me, because I don't generally have problems with games that look primitive; I do wonder if it was more because those two titles were a little *too* expansive and freeform at the start without a clear foothold as to how to get going.

The big sales have been great. <3 GOG.

I have so much to play now. Only finished Freespace so far out of like 10 that I bought.

After picking up 20 games through the holiday sale, up to 105 games on there (and that's, of course, only counting collections of multiple games, such as Ultima 1-3 and 4-6, Might and Magic 6-pack, etc. as a single game. So in reality, far more than 105 separate games available from there). GoG really has been a wonderful service. While I'm glad they're starting to offer newer games as well, and hope that becomes a serious option for people for that as well, I'm definitely glad they've continued to expand their catalog of older games as well, as those are the ones that I enjoy the most. Here's hoping for another year full of the reappearance of previously-lost favorites.

did they remove the option to not see the games you already own on the shop? dur. it's a bit stupid to browse without this. I own 90,89% of the games on there.

I'm having the opposite of buyer's remorse.
Didn't buy remorse?
hehe, me too kind of. still a couple of things I'd like to have there. and I did get 15 games during the sale.

it's time! also the american revolt expansion for the first one.

I really hope they manage to get more Bullfrog games. Considering Theme Hospital is there I was surprised to find that none of the Theme Park games are. Aquarium would also be cool since I never got a chance to play it.

Did you buy anything? Personally, I just hope my own do not buy yet gamble pays off and some of the indie titles come back in another Pick 5, Pay $10 promo.

I got a couple games. There were some here and there I wanted in different promos, but I just couldn't justify buying entire bundles even though 75% off is as cheap as many of those games will ever be until possibly next December.

But yea, I'm hoping various weekend and other promos will provide opportunities to get some of these games at nearly good discounts.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I just found out they got all the Zork games. Wouldn't mind getting Return to Zork, Nemesis (again) and Inquisitor. Then get the anthology.

BTW, too bad the Zork anthology doesn't include the Enchanter trilogy (Enchanter, Sorcerer and Spellbreaker). I loved those games!

Slightly OT, but has anyone used Gamersgate? How are they compared to GOG?

In terms of downloading your games, it's more like Amazon. Clientless, but for each game you have to download a custom downloader which then downloads the game installer to your computer.

Can we expect a daily deal today? Or will there be a weekend sale tomorrow?

Last year, the week after the holiday sale was clear of promo or new releases.

Last year, the week after the holiday sale was clear of promo or new releases.

Indeed, and according to GOG's Twitter:

Our 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale was our biggest so far--thanks to all of you! New games & new promos coming next week

That was their last tweet a couple days ago, and I cannot wait to see what happens!

My main machine is a netbook for an undetermined amount of time, so I'll probably be GOGing it up a lot more than I used to. I have to say, Infinity Engine games are pretty great on a small machine.

As crazy as it sounds, I'd love it if GOG could bring back legal ways to purchase Amiga games.

You'd buy a Kickstarter somewhere (like, the Cloanto Amiga Forever CD) and then you'd be able to purchase Amiga games from GOG.

I'm sure the market would be prety big for many of Amiga's finest titles (like, give me a legit way to repurchase an dplay Turrican I and II, Gods, Magic Pockets, Chaos Engine, Speedball 2, Xenon 2, Hybris, Battle Squadron, etc...)

I second this. Theme Park was the first game I ever played on my computer, and I went from there. I have so many good memories because of Bullfrog.

Well, traditionally it's release Tuesday, single-game promo Wednesday, release Thursday, multi-game promo over the weekend, but they do mix it up fairly frequently.

You'd buy a Kickstarter somewhere (like, the Cloanto Amiga Forever CD) and then you'd be able to purchase Amiga games from GOG.

They really ought to have a Kickstarter to acquire the rights to distribute a Kickstart.

Wow, I am getting great speeds on the downloader.

I would get about 2-3MB down before but now it is maxing out my connection at a constant 7-7.5 MBps. I did run that download test they did recently about 40 times.

What're the chances of tomb raider legend, ann and underworld releasing on gog.com?

I'd imagine fairly high - I *think* they're on good terms with all the major participants for that. That said, I'm not sure we'd necessarily see them any time soon.

First of the new year:

Cultures 1 & 2

I know absolutely nothing about it. Viking exploration-based RTS? Looking at the screenshots, it seems a little questy, too - I've not played Dawn of War, but I'm dimly aware that that's a rather more RPG-esque RTS than some. Along those lines, perhaps?
