Going from COD to Battlefield is a pretty shocking change

BF4 is a decent game when it's working, but I don't like several of the maps since they're huge and I like playing infantry more than getting in tanks or helis.

I would say BF3 is the better game, but I'm glad you're enjoying something new as opposed to buying another cod rehash

you should have been there when BF2 was released. Spent thousands and thousands of hours at that game, it's so much better than 3 and 4 it's honestly quite embarassing

Karkand, Mashtuur City, Sharqui Peninsula, Jalalabad = best maps ever

Running from flag to flag in conquest with the entire team when the other team is down to their last points in China Rising...'priceless

Karkand. Man you brought back some great memories.

I feel they are two completely different games and you can't really compare the two directly. I only play Team Deathmatch on CoD, though. With CoD it's more fast pace twitch and with Battlefield it feels more tactical and thus slower.

Pretty much this. I've enjoyed both COD and BF (though I've not played Ghosts yet), and both really scratch two completely different itches for me. TDM matches in Blops 2 typically took about 10 minutes or so, so I could squeeze a couple of those in when I didn't have much time to game. BF on the other hand is the deeper more tactical experience and time really melts away when i'm playing it.

I know the OP mentioned his K/D starting off pretty low, and this will of course get better as you learn the maps and get a feel for the gunplay, but I always liked that you could still have a blast with BF even if you didn't rack up kills due to the focus on team work and objectives.

Oh, and be sure to spot like a mofo.

Is this game stable on ps4?

Fairly. Crashes are rare, outside of the campaign.

And yeah, Battlefield is a change of pace. But mostly because Call of Duty went from reasonable to frantic over several iterations. Black Ops was the last COD to do it right.

I got into BF through BC2 and loved it. Picked up BF3 and didn't enjoy it as much but put tons of hours into it. BF4 looks like it improved the things people didn't enjoy in BF3 or so I hear when it works, I have no idea though but I'm hoping. I'm planning on picking up a PS4 in March and I'm hoping the game is bug free by then so I can pick it up with infamous.

I should also state that among the BF community I get the sense that while they want the game to sell well, they don't want it to beat cod in terms of sales so those little children who populate cod will always stay with cod and leave us men to the epicness that is BF!

The question I have is the "community" has been complaining and railing on about the little kids from COD only play COD, yell to load, don't play the game etc. Where are those kids from 2007 at now? Do they grow up and start playing BF?

Too complicated for me. I just want to jump in, frag and leave whenever, for which CoD is a good fit. TF2 is the best, but I had to uninstal it because I was losing too much time on it. Plus BFs campaigns are crap. Ghost campaign is the worst CoD one yet, but it still is much better than the recents BFs campaings.

Welcome to the Battlefield!

Even with the issues that plagued BF4 for a while, it's so addicting when it worked. Every match is an action-packed thrill ride. It's my go-to multiplayer game. Love it.
Thankfully, BF4 is a lot more stable now. It gets all the play time in my PS4.

My first date with BF was with BF2: Modern Combat on the OG Xbox in 2005 (and I bought it again when it released on 360 in 2006). It was amazing. I don't care what the PC crowd says about it compared to BF2 PC, it was damn fun.

Glad you are enjoying it OP. I wasn't going to get BF4 initially despite being a big fan of BF3. Only reason I got it was because my friends who had also gotten the ps4 got BF4 too. I'm glad I ended up getting it.

I only play objective based modes with friends so most of the time I play TDM. I'm one of those guys who runs around the map with a sniper and actually does decent. My other favorite mode is domination. It's so hectic! And what can I say about conquest!? Spawn as a sniper kit equipped with a carbine and c4 and go crazy destroying vehicles. That's what I love doing in BF nowadays. C4ing tanks is awesome.

My first taste was BF1942 on a dial up. Trying to get off the ship to storm the beaches was fun even though it lagged all alot of me. Really enjoyed BFMC2 as well on PC/360. Thought the Bad Company was a great refresh with the silly single player campaign and destruction. The only one I couldn't get into was BF2142.

COD is a twitch shooter
BF is a strategic team based objective game

Pick your battle

Not unless I'm commanding a team, it seems, and hardly then.

When a team listens, we're unbeatable. Otherwise it just seems more like a clash of bodies.

BF and COD two completely different games IMO, i like that both..

This is how i play each game..

COD:Infantry only combat.
BF:vehicular warfare...

I have played BF 1942, BF2, BF3, and a bit of BF4. Also played CoD2, 3, 4, MW2, MW3, BlOps, BlOps 2.

CoD is way more fun for me, but I am basically sick of all of it now. I have skipped Ghosts, sold BF4 already, and I have no plans on getting back into either one. I kinda hope the next CoD is evolutionary enough to drag me back in but I have huge doubts that will happen.

I would always listen. Couple things I still need help with.

1) If I can fly a helicopter well in BF am I technically certified to fly a real helicopter because I feel like I should be.

2) Are all the AA and Anti Tank Rocket launchers strictly through the support class? I need some way to help my team out more when were getting molten lava shot at us.

3) Can I create custom load outs and save them? It seems like anytime I want to adjust my equipment I just have the one standard load to do it with.

Glad your enjoying it, i made the change about midway through MW2 (still played BF2 on the side) and never went back.
It was a massive change coming off of COD2 and 4 (games meant a lot to me) but i just couldn't deal with MW2 anymore, i was bored and wanted something new.

Played BF2-BF2142-BC2/vietnam-BC3 and now BC4.

Most worth change i have made in games to date.

Your help made a huge difference today man. Thanks again

I have been playing the BF series since 1942. even though EA is doing everything in its power to kill this franchise it seems, I still love it. I had a hard time getting sucked into BF3, but BF4 is amazing. Once they fully flesh out everything, it will probably be the best since BF2. I have never gotten into cod because there is no teamplay. Just run and gun. And it's way too arcade like on top. BF just plays so much better.

I play both. I play COD when I'm bored and I want to get some quick games in. I play BF when I feel like playing a long match.

I don't really prefer one over the other, since there's things I like about both. I like COD since I feel so lightweight, the shooting is very accurate and fun, and it's a nice drop in and drop out game. I like BF because it's more strategic, it has vehicles, and the graphics are pretty great.

When I first went from COD to BF, I mostly hated it. My soldiers felt too heavy, sniping felt too complicated, and I couldn't get a feel for any guns. After a few matches, I finally figured out how to play and started enjoying it. The game really showed me the big difference in skill from COD to BF, but in a weird way thats something I disliked about it. COD you can just pick up and play, while BF you have to take a while to learn.

So I can't choose one over the other, there both fun in their own way.

Ya do that spotting thing. Also follow your squad leaders objectives. You get such good points for that!

Don't follow points, do the right thing, squad leaders in pubs will mark anything for points, don't be that guy, mark the proper objectives.

I started off terrible in the first week or so and wanted to quit lol, but I have over a 1.4 K/D ratio now. I suck in large scale battles, but do good in small ones.

If you're riding in the gunner seat of a tank and you don't repair. I swear to Christ I will find you.
I don't repair when I'm 2nd seat. Mainly because when I get out to try and repair, the dumbass drives off and never stops to let me.

Great game but its still buggy. Reading the recent story about how the dudes who made CR DLC not use Levolution is pretty BS.

Anyways wish there was no Auto-aim even if its subtle. I mean I can tell when its activated and is irritating because I feel/im reminded I am playing in a sea of console noobs. They should just make console FPS remove auto aim already. Now its not the same on PC bc everyone uses KBM and Im more a control dude.

Looking forward to more DLC maps to arrive tho.

Lol when Im the squad leader I just to do just that, insteading of defending a point we dont need defending from. Gah, It makes me want to play the game again soon.

1) I can't imagine it being much more difficult than it is in Battlefield 4. Christ, I land sideways every time.

2) The Engineer class is the anti-vehicle class, with the launchers. But you can definitely do damage to a close helicopter with the grenade launchers the Assault and Support classes can equip. Every squad needs an Engineer.

3) Sadly nein. You have to customize your class every time you want to switch-up weapons/gadgets, but you do get pretty efficient with it after awhile. Hopefully an update will allow us to store loadouts.

No offense to OP, but I'm hating BF4 because it seems the CoD crowd has jumped over and is ruining the game because they still think they're playing CoD. Objectives don't matter, snipers running around on the battlefield, very few people are playing their roles.

I'm disgusted with it. I had more fun playing 24 player BF3 on PS3.

Try domination. Map is smaller, a lot of intense close quarter combat. No vehicles either, only infantry combat

Not a problem, i was new once as well (series was much different back then however) and coming from COD i know that learning curve is nuts.

Same general idea regarding maps however, map knowledge is king and you will win every gunfight if they don't know your there.
Learn those maps (start with vanilla) one at a time and you will already be a better player than most of the pub community.

I have a blast in Battlefield. It seems to capture more of the intensity and the crazy moments if warfare better than CoD. I love BF way more than I did CoD.

I think Battlefield has the better gameplay, in terms of using vehicles, and map size, and possibilities, but it's too easily ruined by other players. The options give the other players a lot of ways to cause hell on an enemy team. The one instance where I stopped playing Battlefield was on Battlefield 3, where a group of snipers parachuted on a roof, and placed spawn beacons. From that location, if they died, they could respawn right back and place another beacon down. They also had a great view of the area, so they could stop attacks before they happened. It took a few tries, but I parachuted on top and got rid of three of them, but then they were back to holding down the team. It was fun, just not for me.

Call of Duty has less scale with less abuse. Except for Ghosts. The spawn system is awful right now. The difference is, I can still have fun even while I lose. The faster pace helps out in that regard.

Bad Company 2 is where it's at. I'd love DICE to make something like that again.

I find that Battlefield is great sometimes, and more often terrible. A lot of what you say in your original post is what we think in our heads as the ideal scenario when we pop into a game of battlefield, but rarely does it ever occur.

The game is absolutely fantastic when everything clicks. Unfortunately, those moments are few and far between, plus too much teamwork is required to actually get 32 random people on the internet to work together, its so hit or miss. (yeah, fantastic idea DICE removing a party lobby).

Anyways, COD is easier to pickup and play with a more consistent experience. Thats why more people tend to gravitate towards it.

Thats been my experience on some BF4 maps as well. Nothing like having the enemy setting up three spawn beacons on the tallest building (ZAVOD 311) in the middle, not even capturing the point underneath them in the factory. They get kill but always lose the game.

I have over 250 hours across 2 platforms and each of my conquest games are exciting.

I just started playing BF4 multi, haven't never played BF multiplayer before and my ass is getting handed to me. Even when I think I got the drop on someone he kills me first. If any of you had me on your team, I'm so very sorry, strangely my team always won. I am having fun with it.
