For some fucking reason I woke up after three hours of sleep tonight and then couldn't go back to sleep.

Right now I'm sitting in the bus and holy fuck I'm tired. This is going to be a nightmare today.

Any survival tips besides tons of coffee?

wear headphones - blare loud annoying music in them.

But yea, the day lasts SOOO much longer when you are tired. Supposedly 15 minute cat naps really help, so you could do that on your break. Of course, you would actually need to find a spot where you won't be seen because that just looks really bad.

Honestly, I frequently have the same problem. Probably at least once a week, which seems like way too much.

I usually go the gas station (or some convenience store) and grab one of those huge Monster Energy drinks and sip on that all day.

Then I crash when I get home and sleep until I have to wake up and leave the next day. Not fun. Good luck!

Raquet Ball in your left butt back pocket.

Seriously, you will be so uncomfortable sitting down, you will NOT fall asleep on the job.

red bull a lot of times i go to work with only one of two hours of sleep time, helps a lot

Keep social if you can. Helps keep you awake.

Lol I just moved to a new office last week, sitting alone waiting for a new colleague to arrive next week. Fug.

Might try the Monster method.

E: and we have a open door policy, can't even take a nap lmao.

I remember once upon a time years ago I did an all night and had to be at work at 7 AM. That day was something, I was barely lucid all day and everything went kinda fast.

This happens to me all the time. You'll be fine. Drink something with caffeine but not sugar. After a few hours this morning your body will return to its normal routine and you'll feel like normal. Continue to hydrate yourself with water throughout the day. Do NOT eat a big lunch. Try to keep yourself as busy as possible. If you can get out and take a walk during lunch, do it. If you know how to take a power nap, do it.

And whatever you do, do not get home tonight and immediately go to sleep. This will fuck your sleep schedule up and you'll be back on GAF tomorrow morning with the same story. That is the single biggest mistake you could make from this situation.

water from the point youre awake to the moment you have your first meal. If its breakfast get some coffee, but switch to tea right after. Coffee would be like a rocket tied to your ass if you have more than a cup (I got jitters and blurred vision, exhaustion and huge amount of caffeine).

keep drinking water or tea until lunch, then take a redbull, that'll be fuel until you leave work hopefully at a regular hour.

that was a eating style I came up with during crunch periods.

Red Bull is the superior keep awake energy drink. Get one of the 450ml cans, if you don't usually drink red bull you'll be wired for ages.

I've been getting about 3 hours after I had to quit using marijuana bc my work is randomly drug testing now. it really really sucks

Happens to me at least once a year or so.

I have a habit of waking up in the middle of the night and I can't get back to sleep sometimes.

Those days suck major dick.

Forget the coffee. You need water and calories. Try to eat a bit more during the day to keep your energy levels up.

Stay social if your work environment permits it, and keep busy. I've been there. Just always have some water to drink and find work too keep you busy.

I did this today/yesterday....worked a day, came home did homework, met up with the gf after her vacation, hung out with her till 2:30...went home and was sleeping at 3:30, woke up at 5 and went work and have been going strong ever since around 10 hours later...I kept the caffeine amount consistent...you can't do too much too fast otherwise you will be jittery.

So

- one cup of coffee with breakfast
- then lots of water
- small lunch
- red bull/monster (not decided on that tbh) after lunch

Lets see how that works out.

Good luck. This was me on Friday.

I had a lot of green tea in the morning and everything was fine until lunch. I spent half of my lunch hour asleep and half of it eating a rather large meal, followed by more tea and work. Things got REALLY sketchy around two (I was struggling to keep my eyes open) but I was able to make a comeback and get through the day.

It's not pleasant but you'll go home and have a great night sleep afterwards.

I have 2 month old twins. One with colic and the other with reflux. Some days I sit at work and fantasize about what it would be like to have 3 whole hours of sleep in a row.

Drink a five hour energy when you've got roughly that amount of time left.

I had to use those a few times in college after pulling all nighters. They made me feel alert and awake, but not overly caffeinated or jittery, like I would sometimes get with a morning NOS (energy drink). No real crash either.

Just make sure to have a piece of gum or something for afterwards, cause they taste awful, or at least they did a couple of years ago when I had them.

Water and coffee. More water than coffee. Hope you usually drink coffee though, otherwise you'll be running to the toilet every hour.

If coffee works for you, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Tea or energy drinks work as an alternative.
If not, water and something small to eat.

Also, when you feel like you're really sleepy, move around for 10 minutes at least.

pffft you'll live. I've done worst, been to work in the past (like a long time ago not anymore) still drunk and no sleep from the day before.

This happens to me a lot (rotating schedule, retail, etc.). Usually weed makes me sleepy, but a good wake and bake when I'm tired as fuck makes me more comfortable with the fact that I'm really, really tired. Also lots of water and carbs don't hurt. I never drink caffeinated drinks so idk how that would affect things.

Welcome to my everyday life.

Try to stay social, being pressured to talk makes you think and with it you'll stay awake. Coffee is good, but even water will do the trick.

Take a five minute break every once in a while and do some sit-ups or pushups, they will hive you energy for a while.

Try doing it everyday. Insomnia can be a bitch.

I go through cycles where I can barely sleep for like 2 months, then finally my body gives in and makes me sleep. Rinse repeat.

Eat something, but not something carb heavy or it will make you even more tired. Grab some lean meat or fish if you can, or something heavy on vegetables... I know this is weird advice, but I used to do this all the time, and this plus lots of coffee helped.

What kind of work? If it involves a lot of sitting down, it might be tough. If there's any labour, I find that just being active is enough to power me through the day.

Its all in your head you will be fine just stay positive plenty of liquids and the rights foods (nothing too heavy or you will feel tired) then just think tonight you will sleep fantastically well tonight!

Also have something sugary to get you through the last hour or two if needed. Please don't drink too much caffeine as it may impact on your sleep tonight especially if you don't drink it regularly.

I've done this with school, and with work in the past. I used to stay up far too late, and these days I have trouble sleeping.

It sucks, and I wish you luck. Just try to stay busy.

The worst was when I worked midnights during college, and was up for 36 hours straight. I fell asleep at the movies, because my friends talked me into going.

The other week, I only got two hours of sleep the night before the last day of E3, and walked around the convention center exhausted all day. I just couldn't sleep. Then, afterwards, it was straight to the airport for an all-night flight home. I maybe got an hour and a bit on the plane, in small chunks.

Back when I used to work graveyard (11pm-7am), I would at least once a month go to work then hang out with friends/do errands all day/play games then go straight to work again.

I have no tips. You just got to wing it. My body would not let me fall asleep since it knew that I could do it during work.

Uh whatever you do avoid trying to read too much, focus on doing stuff and less on reading.

Eventually you'll hit a tipping point where you're no longer sleepy just exhausted, it'll give you enough to push through till the end of the day.

Office work.

Two cups of coffee, a small lunch and lots of water helped. Didnt need a red bull.

Now I'm gonna try and stay awake until 10 to get a normal sleeping cylcle.

Sleeping 3h, never again
