Goku Vs. Superman - Settled Once and For All

Ha, the fight in that video was fucking awesome.

Goku technically won, but his dumbness took over. He could have ended it in base form with the kryptonite. Vegeta would have killed him with the kryptonite soon as it was exposed.

Na, Vegeta is more arrogant than anyone. He would want to prove himself and then proceed to get whooped by Superman.

It's actually somewhat amusing that it's only used to travel in the fight but Instant Transmission itself was used quite a bit by Goku throughout the series, both to travel and to dodge attacks or setup offense. The point about Goku not being able to know where he transports Superman in a fight is rather silly because he could easily go somewhere that he does know. He's IM'd to Kaio's planet and I'm pretty sure that place doesn't have a sun, for example. At least, I don't remember there being a Sun there.

Just a bunch of golden clouds and pink sky

Would be a weird match. Mr. Fantastic is an immeasurable genius, while Luffy's an idiot, despite being awesomely powerful. Don't think it'd be much of a fight--by that I mean, it wouldn't be epic or exciting--if we take into account what Reed would do in the first place with his tech.

Luffy's limited. MF can control his stretchiness however he wishes. Luffy's more just a giant rubber band. He also has tons more experience.

Goku is not in SS' league.
Bold statement. Back it up.

I guess it depends on what arc you draw Goku or Vegeta from, and whether or not either of them believed the planet would be at stake and would be willing to go to such lengths. I agree though, more often than not, Goku or Vegeta would have eschewed exploiting Superman's weaknesses and would have probably lost for it. (Though I'd still root for the DBZ guys :P)

While we're piling on the nerd stuff, it's a shame Goku couldn't have taken a feat to have his fists be considered magic weapons or something, lol.

Nice, thanks.

Anyways, that explanation only proves that there are far too many variables for a "conclusive" answer. In ANY fight or match up with any character. Assuming the world still exists around them. I mean if we used the concept of putting them in an endless desert or in a void, even then, it's like "will that desert have a sun?" or "will that void have air?"

Maybe if they were both nude with no extra items, in a sunny endless desert with a depth that goes on eternally, with a sky that goes up indefinitely, then maybe the environment is more "controlled". But even then...will this "space" STILL have a sun? And if it does, doesn't that give Superman an unfair edge?

What reminds me, how the Batman and Spiderman fight was also really stupid. Batman would never fight Spiderman head on without information and a strategy. For the beginning he would simply hide, run away and analyse is opponent with strategic attacks and observation to understand him. There is no pressure and Peter has no skills, which let him detect Batman easier. He would certainly figure out, that Spiderman uses mechanic web-shooters, has an danger-sense, super-human strength, speed and agility (but not by far), no martial-arts skills and the temperament of an teenager. Simply by destroying his web-shooters (what would be his main objection) Peter would lose a lot of options and the ability for range-shoots. After that he could slowly wore him out, through cheap shoots out of the shadows.

No skills? You do know Spider-man is a master of an Marital arts called way of the spider right?

He used it to own people left and right in Spider-island when EVERYONE in new york gained Spider-man powers.

By everyone, he means even the supervillains and heroes. Not only did they have spider powers, but they had what was initially their own. And Parker was still able to best them.

Dragon Ball characters are severly underpowered when it comes to the craziest comic book characters. They can desintregrate them by thinking and shit like that.

Ha exactly. I dont think either would have risked losing the planet for their own willingness to see their opponent at full strength. Vegeta would, depending on which ark, but not past Cell Saga.

Gohan is someone who isn't arrogant and I think would have ended it as soon as possible.

Batman has 0 chance against Spidey. Super strength spider sense and the agility to make SS useful. Batman couldn't realistically hit Spidey, and even if he could he couldnt' inflict serious damage. (Crooks complain that punching Spidey is like hitting a brick wall due to his enhanced musculature.)

People are actually bringing up Vegeta, the Legendary Super Jobber?

He would make a badass entrance, do good for a few minutes, then get mollywhopped...like always.

Luffy's limited. MF can control his stretchiness however he wishes. Luffy's more just a giant rubber band. He also has tons more experience.

I mean I never seen Goku make a black hole.

Everytime I read some summary on a dc/marvel character's info page or stuff like this I feel like my brain is about to blow a fuse from the "what the fuck" overload.

Yes, it's hard to call out a winner here. On one hand Luffy uses his powers much more smarter, has super-strength even without his powers and as an new extension Haki, which makes him stronger and let him predict the movement of opponents. On the other hand Mr. Fantastic could out smart him, use some weapon with sea salt or simply throw him into the ocean. The main problem is, that both characters are a part of a team. Luffy uses his crew to counter his weaknesses. In some way like the Fantastic Four.

Actually he did beat Cell, but he was a pussy and didn't finish up. Seriously why did he not finish Cell off after he destroyed half his body?
Essentially you're saying there is no basis for suggesting that Goku would ever intentionally weaken his foe by anything other than using a punch to the mouth. So I doubt he would use kryptonite, which would be the equivalent of poisoning someone.
Actually, he forgot that Cell could regenerate his body for a moment, where Cell was already standing up again. Also he would survive anyway and Goku was already out of breath at this moment ( i looked it up =) ). It was not, that he did not try.

Those Dead Battles don't work, because they send characters into a situation, which never fit the characters. It is always very hard to find reason in fiction, why two heroes would actually fight seriously. In every situation, where this two characters could fight against, they would find a reason to settle there differences or fight the core together. That's why i believe, when there is really no other possibility, Goku would fight dirty. Especially if he is out-match (what he should know from the beginning, since he is that smart. Very often Goku even let his enemy beat him, only to test there ability.). He is based on the monkey king and used some cheap tricks before (for example: calling out the wrong attacks to distract an enemy [stone, scissor, paper], biting, scratching, blinding the enemy by destroying an eye, taunting, etc.).

LOL I don't think the world could handle it if Superman kept the thing.

According to the story behind the sword, the Guardians kept creating entire civilizations so that one day they would have the ultimate being. Not only is Superman the only one who can weild the sword, but he was even metahuman in Kryptonian standards.

He was also going to be Krypton's Green Lantern!

NOW, a team battle would be more interesting. Superman and either the Justice League or Legion of Superheroes vs. Goku and the Z Fighters. That includes several saiyans from Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, Goten, and Pan. Also, Yamcha.

WHO WOULD WIN?!?
Plastic Man

Again. The outcome of this match depends ENTIRELY on which version of Superman Goku fights.

If it's Pre-Crisis, Goku gets rapestomped hard. Post-Crisis, Goku takes it.

how does Goku not win? Supes wins the first fight easy, then 30 episodes later and lots of "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

The Saiyan should be uber powerful after healing from that beatdown at the hands of classic supes.

Maybe he cant beat Gold Superman , which was basically classic supes....and meh lets throw in some capt atom and franklin richards while we're at it.

The interesting part is that after Superman, he might not handle more than 2 or 3 saiyans at once.

Justice League has:
Flash
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Martian Manhunter
Plastic Man
Green Lantern

Could all of them keep up with any of the Saiyans? Maybe Flash, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman. Plastic Man is nearly indestructible though. Superman and the Legion is a lot less certain.

Yamcha could beat Batman though. BY THE POWER OF... THE WOLF

I get the feeling that everyone who dismisses this and favors Goku simply doesn't know the extent of bullshit the DC universe spirals into. Hell, both Marvel and DC get a little crazy and abstract with what defines their most powerful entities.

Or they just like Goku more. That's what these vs debates often boil down to: whose your fav?

Dragon Ball characters are severly underpowered when it comes to the craziest comic book characters. They can desintregrate them by thinking and shit like that.

Yea but dragonball z characters are everyday characters, in that respect they are really powerful. You dont get to see Eternity and Galactus the awesome cosmic duo ongoing often. Usually they are in archs and mini's. And they dwarf the usual characters/heroes/villains. Cell got beat by Gohan with assist from Vegetta and he was about to Kamehameha the solar system...thats pretty good. Lets not forget Brolly could fuck them all up on top of that. So if you Tier it, theres a handful of comic characters that were mortals but wtf, Franklin...well all the Richards and Summers kids *but again council of Reeds beat them all*, Silver Surfer, Odin, Korvac *gone*, Parallax *no longer in HaL*, Thor when he takes odins place, Molecule Man, Thanos with Infinity Guantlet, Classic Era Supes, Imo Flash but he holds back, Capt Atom *nerfed cause of Supes*, those guys are around lots in comics, there are tons others, but they are either beyond normal physical being *aeon, eternity, L Tribunal etc* or they are a special/cross over/mini char just like Korvac or the Beyonder.

Barry could beat all the saiyans before they could finish their pre fight dialogue.

One disappointing thing about Superman winning is that he wins mostly by virtue of being a Kryptonion. Every Kryptonion has his powers. I'm sure his prowess may make him one of the best there was but ratio is probably comparable to Mohammad Ali vs Joe Schmo. Goku, on the other hand, surpassed his race by orders of magnitude with abilities they've never had.

In the show, even though Goku's progress seemed effortless by contrast with the other DBZ characters, he did train his whole life. Superman takes it to a whole other level where it seems like he just has to nonchalantly reach into a hat to pull out his next feat of strength. It just comes to him by virtue of his being The Superman.

superman vs good character writer.

superman uses his butt to shoot out phantoms (he always had it but he just got forgot)that disintegrate you at a sub-microscopic-apathetic level.

oh yeah and his ear-wax can also replicate any living thing or object he wants - if he remembers lol!

writer dies or moves onto more interesting idea.

I watched the vid...

...I have no idea what's going on. The only superman I know is from the movies and I have no idea who this Goku character is beyond the "over 9000" stuff.

I'm ashamed. :(

I think you're onto something. Movie Superman vs Saiyan Arc Goku. Make it happen screwattack.

hahaha yea

Logia users are painfully broken. If you don't have the ability to use Haki, you can't hurt them (outside of very rare circumstances)

neither supes or goku could defeat this guy in a fair fight. They'd have to destroy the planet to do so (which is something neither of those characters would ever consider doing)

There's also this dude who's body is made up of "light" and moves at the speed of light. (I don't believe that claim, though he's unquestionably the fastest character in One Piece)

Did I just read this right? We're adding ONE PIECE characters in a discussion about characters who blow up planets, star systems, galaxies, UNIVERSES on a regular basis?

Krillin and Yamcha would solo the entire OP verse with ridiculous ease, logia or not, let alone any characters who are Saiyans. Those ki-blasts fire faster than those guys can go logia. And they can't stay a logia forever.

And no, Kizaru is not faster than the speed of light. He's only "lightspeed" when he's LITERALLY light. Other than that, he uses base speed.

I'm sure if Doomsday could "kill" Superman, Goku would make short work of him.

Also, I didnt know 80% of this shit Superman could do and now that I know, I totally like him less. He's such a bullshit hero. "Strong as he needs to be"...bullshit.

I would have picked Goku till that video showed me Superman's broken abilities. He is as strong as he needs to be.

when has he been written "strong as he needs to be?"

True, but there is this air of real limitation around Goku. I never watched GT, and it's been years since I watched the Buu saga, but it never seemed Goku's storylines were "don't worry, he's gonna win no matter what". Shit, the sense of dread I felt during his fight with Cell was awesome. Dude is totally nowhere near Superman legitimate God status.

that "dread" is instantly lost once you realize they can just bring him back to life.

Instant transmission Kamehama to the face.

It's a pretty simple concept.

and...? to a man that can survive a super nova what's a little concentrated energy going to do?

Superman is better than any Kryptonian because he's had years of experience and training using his powers.

Except WHY can Superman survive a Super Nova and yet be hurt by far far lesser force on a regular basis.

It's pretty simple, Superman is a solar battery so of corse he can survive a Supernova since that's basically his power source and isn't going to hurt him.

Batman on Venom Punched Superman and made him bleed...

And that's just within the last year or so of Comics.

its done for effect. the same way goku could laugh off a punch from frieza but then be floored by an attack with a pan from chichi. one is comedy effect, and the other is for dramatic effect

But Gohan is stronger

Gotta go with this. It's pretty clear at the end of Dragon Ball Z that Gohan is stronger, or, always will have the potential to be stronger than Goku. And whenever Goku resolves a battle using a spirit bomb, that's more about people uniting for good over a common evil than Goku actually exhibiting any power. He's merely the conduit for the victory in these cases.

Murder a group of orphans in front of Gohan and you have the strongest being in any Universe.

And yeah, I'm one of those types that overlooks Dragon Ball GT.

The current superman is a Reboot of the character. We're not really sure how strong he is yet. No amount of Venom could injure Pre-flashpoint superman- he's simply too powerful.

All of them sans Aquaman would do horrible, HORRIBLE things to Saiyans. Flash and Green lantern could take half a dozen of them by themselves.

Goku only get's "hurt" by chichi because he allows her to hit him since he knows that she can't really actually do any damage. And Most of that only happens in the anime and not the manga.

Meanwhile Superman regularly gets hurt by forces far far below "moon busting" all the time.

Going by how Superman is averagely depicted Master Roshi would majorly mess Superman up in a fight let alone Goku.

what issue was that? and what lesser forces are you talking about? in the android saga, Goku had a heart virus. that's a far lesser force than anything these beings face.

now you're just talking non-sense.

At the end of GT Goku became immortal. GOKU WINZ

and at the end of DC one million Superman lives inside the sun.

Taking that into "account" aren't these versus battles about these specific characters...at their best?
