Damn, I read the title as "Blah Blah...Get Gold GB Micro", thought that would have been interesting.
 
It appears that $250 is the "minimum value." Also, while this looks like $62,000 worth of swag apiece, realize that this list is going to hit so many publications that it's effectively multiples of that in PR money for the companies that "donated" them. :)
 
Thank god they're getting them free. It's not like they'd ever be able to afford one on those meagre $20 million performance fees they're supposed to survive on.

Celebrities are walking advertising billboards. Companies provide them products free of charge in hopes that they will continue to use them in public and speak about it during interviews. Its merely part of the advertising budget none of it is due to goodwill.

Well think of this way, if Nintendo gave you a GB Micro free of charge do you think anyone would care? The real problem is that people are too obsessed with what celebrities spend their money on and what products they use. I guess itÂ’s understandable to think that celebrities with a large sum of disposable income would only spend their money on worthwhile products. However this is most certainly not the case in most situations.

Yes, I know exactly why they do it. But it doesn't stop it being a bit sad that a celebrity who could use Gameboy Micros as bricks to build a house with gets one free, while a kid with an alcoholic dad spends a year saving for one then wakes up one morning to see a smashed piggybank and a half-empty bottle of bourbon on the kitchen table. :lol

I got a GBA for free. People cared.
It was pre-US launch, and I was playing my imported GBA while waiting my turn at E3 to win another.
 
At a prize value of $250, the recipients will probably have to pay as much to the IRS in taxes as the system and game would have cost them in the first place.

It's not that expensive, the price you see is what you'd pay magnified 10 fold. If you've ever seen a Cold Stone Ice Cream store around it's the same deal only less quality.
 
Marble Slab Ice Cream isn't near that expensive. These are prices you might pay 50 years from now at an amusement park on Triple Price Tueday.
 
I wish they weren't giving them the 20th Anniversay edition, those are supposed to be limited and I'd like to buy a second one before they are sold out... Plus that edition isn't really "fashionable" looking, it's more appealing to video game geeks than celebrities... Should have went with silver or black.

...that is when they aren't playing the multiple X360's they had handed to them in November. :)
