Goldeneye Wii Discussion

The only Wii shooter I have is The Conduit and I kind of hate it to death because of the controls. Will buy this if it handles well.

Hey, it looks like Goldeneye. I'm getting CoD, so I guess I'll go for either this or Conduit. I really wonder how the multiplayer holds up today. I just don't know.

Although I see they brought back OddJob. Ugh. Will everybody still try to pick him because he's short and the bullets go over his head?

Oddjob isn't going to be a "little person" in this game... he wasn't that way in Goldfinger.

Hopefully they put Nick-Nack in (the character mini-me is sort of based off of).

Welp, looks like there's a new Wii FPS on my list. Doesn't look as good as I was expecting, but the gameplay seems to be all there. I don't care too much about multiplayer, but as long as the single player game is solid, I'm pretty much in. Can't wait until we get some impressions on the game.

New Wii headset? What did I miss?

Just this.

LOS ANGELES – Performance Designed Products LLC (“PDP”), a worldwide leader in the videogame accessory market, today announced the upcoming launch of the first licensed online chat headset for the Wii™. PDP’s Headbanger® Headset brings online headset chat to Wii for the first time. When used with compatible games, players will be able to send voice messages, converse online, and chat simultaneously in real time.

“We’re delighted to be working with Nintendo to create this exciting product,” commented Tom Roberts, Senior Executive VP and Chief Technology Officer at PDP. “This important project is a testament to our engineers’ software and hardware expertise. We look forward to working with developers and publishers across the world to bring their players a new way to chat online using their Wii consoles.”

Steve Singer, Nintendo’s Vice President of Licensing, added “PDP has shown its ability to create innovative peripherals that meet the high quality expected from a Nintendo licensed product. We are pleased to partner with them as an official licensee for both Wii and Nintendo DS accessories.”
Among the first titles to be supporting the new headset are Sega’s Conduit 2, a science fiction military FPS with co-op and competitive online multi-player game play.
“Being able to bring headset network chat to Conduit 2 on Wii is a huge win for us, and for Wii gamers,” said Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage Software. “By incorporating the new Wii compatible headset into Conduit 2, we are able to immerse gamers into the action like never before. The microphone allows for crystal-clear communication to your Conduit 2 friends and foes alike.”
PDP’s Headbanger® Headset for Wii is anticipated to be at retailers across North America and Europe by October 2010.
Features:
• Seamless, high-quality online chat for Wii gamers
• High-quality, noise cancelling microphone and earpiece
• Usable on either ear with no need for adjustment
• Aesthetically matched to the Wii console and accessories
• Mute button and volume control integrated into earpiece
• LED indicators for system live and mute functions
• Adjustable, flexible microphone boom for maximum comfort
• Fully licensed by Nintendo
MSRP: $24.99

Ha! Like I said, just based on their Bond/Goldeneye license, nothing to do with the old game.

That's also presumably why they had to go with Craig.

Wasn't that rainy course the first level of the N64 game, how is that "based on" its more like spot on, is it not?

That... actually interests me. I was quite fond of Nightfire so I kinda trust the developer to make this good.

More excited about it being a Bond game rather than a Goldeneye game and it'll be interesting to see if they have Craig say and one liners and use gadgets.

Game seems really awesome to me. What's with all the bitchiness? Is there some lame graphics vs. nostalgia trolling going on?

Well it is part of the "movie" so of course the locales look the same.

So far, only really noticed the use of more stealth moves like the choke and pulling someone off the ledge.

I want to know what else they added. Maybe more driving segments or something.

So wait is this a remake or not?

Some of the environments look good but I think Wii can do better. If this is a good and modernized port, I might bite. Though I looked up videos of Goldeneye Source and I can't tell which looks better...

This was a great game for its time, but I’ll move past it in favor of something new. And maybe I’m spoiled or maybe it’s because I don’t play much Wii these days and it could be just me, but I think this game looks laugh-out-loud bad.

Well, I guess the upside of having to buy a Wii again is that I can finally play the Mario Galaxy games too (I bought my Wii in January 2007 for TP. I beat that, then didnt touch my Wii again until June 2007 when RE4 got the Wii treatment. I beat that, then didnt touch it again ever, so I sold it in late 2007)!

:lol :lol sorry I HAD to.

I'm stunned, stunned by the reactions this game is getting in here. I loved the game as much as the next guy, but third parties have been making Bond games for over 10 years now and they have been adequate at best. There is no basis for there being any more hope for this game than any other shown at this stage, other than the name "GoldenEye" attached to it.

Listen, I hope it's great too, but nothing in that trailer distinguished itself to me from any other generic Bond game.

So I guess I'm in the wait and see camp.

And then you can play the second Super Mario Galaxy.

And then the new Zelda.

And then you can wonder why they never made an official game off of Casino Royale.

What would be cool, would be a Bond through time game, taking major setpieces from all the movies.

Why is Daniel Craig in this?

Is that the best they could do w/ the graphics?

And finally, what's w/ all the new shit?

edit: I really don't want to support Activision...but I really want this for nostalgic purposes. If all the multiplayer options from the original aren't in it, they can go and die.

Eh, a lot of the high hope comes from this game actually looking like Goldeneye (and I mean that in a good way, haters) I look at that video and I see the new Bond doing things I remember doing when I was playing the old Bond. I can't wait to to shoot that guy sitting on the toilet from the safety of the ceiling at the beginning of the Facility again :)

Why is Daniel Craig in this?

Is this a serious question? This isnt a Sean Connery FRWL game scenario. Daniel Craig is Bond right now. Not only that, but not only would they never ask Pierce to do it, but Pierce would never say yes anyway. He was incredibly bitter for a very long time.

I am dealing with it, but man: I really don't know what to think of this.

keep an open mind split up into: 50% this will live up to goldeneye 20% it may surpase it 10% its gonna be average but still... oh wait this is excatly like golden eye damn this gamn hasn't aged well and 10% damn youse activsion for getting my hopes up!!

or something like that.

Whoa. Looks pretty damn awesome. I'm not happy about Craig. I understand if they couldn't use Brosnan, but I would prefer a generic Bond that looks similar (like Agent Under Fire's, even though they probably were trying to make him look like the actor).

Excited.

Oh and Nightfire was awesome, and the same developers made it, no?

All this game needs is orchestrated versions of the original Goldeneye music and I'm there.

You know what I'm going to do if I buy this and the music sucks?

1. Rip to hard drive.
2. Open ISO in wiiscrubber
3. Replace the new music with the classic GE64 music (after putting it in the right format obviously)
4. Put ISO back onto hard drive, put game disc back into box/on shelf
5. Play!

Pretty much what I thought after watching the trailer. Looks like the usual ugly Bond game from an average developer. Only this time they're banking on the name/settings from the classic to get attention and sales. Game could end up decent, but I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully it surprises me.

Every. single. level. in that trailer was from the N64 game.

You know, for someone with

as their avatar, you should be even more frustrated by Activision's pathetic attempt at cashing in on a game they've never been able to match.

In Activision's defense, they've only had one crack at it thus far with the QoS game. It's hardly indicative of what they can or can't do with the IP.

Also, people asking for Pierce's likeness need to realize that he did not part with the franchise in what could considered an amicable way.
