This, so much potential

What is that?

Young Justice is back on the air in a few hours.

Does anybody remember Roughnecks? The Starship Troopers CGI show?

Also, wasn't Exo Squad supposed to get another season?

No love for Flapjack?

Flapjack was fucking amazing. its like the Anti-Adventure Time.

no reason Flapjack and Chowder had to die, they could have existed just fine next to Regular Show and Adventure Time.

i fucking hate you CN.

Had no idea this existed. I don't know how to feel after having watched it though.

its kinda weird.

90's was the anthropomorphic era. Once TMNT was successful there were a whole slew of mediocre "animals with attitude" shows that all ran together.

Swat Kats is king, Swat Kats forever.

hush you fool.

Stroker and Hoop

oh snaps. i completely forgot.

DvrUo.jpg

this was one of the best shows ever made. i fucking loved it.

stupid literal cliff hanger ending. ugh.

My friends didnt like X-men Evolution but I really liked it.

And your post makes me think about another pattern with short lived cartoons: comics.

X-men Evolution
Wolverine and the X-men

New Batman Adventures
The Batman
Batman: Brave and the Bold

Spider-man Unlimited
Spider-man(MTV)
Spectacular Spider-man

Thats just off the top of my head and big name comics.

Also, unrelated to comics, but still relevant - My Life as a Teenage Robot.
tumblr_me1275cPlp1qa619w.jpg

X-men Evolution was great. yes, Marvel cancels all of its shows. just, dont watch Marvel cartoons, just dont even bother.

Teenage Robot was pretty great. it was kinda silly and the animation style for the humans wasnt the best, and some times it could be kinda dumb, but it was p cool. they should remake this and maybe do it in a more serious tone or something.

Stroker and Hoop was great.
'Now I can solve this at my leisure'

I would say Moral Orel too, but season 3 was pretty much one of the best seasons of any show ever, and the ending was perfect.

Honestly, what the hell is the matter with CN? This show is so wonderful and easily the smartest Scooby Doo series ever. It's filled with nice nods to past Hannah Barbera cartoons that makes for great viewing for people who grew up on these shows.

It's a damn shame. This show is so good.

I think the Critic lasted long enough. It started to change when it changed stations, so I think it ran well enough. Reboot could have had a season to wrap everything up, though.

As for Batman Beyond, I think it got enough of a final treatment. I would have loved another season of Zim to finish any story threads, but that's just never going to happen.

What Scooby is that? Mystery Inc. is still running and it's great, one of the best there is.

Mystery Incorporated has been essentially dead since it went on break in October of 2010.
It has been plagued with delayed scheduling and lack of advertising, not to mention the attempt at flushing episodes away during a non primetime slot(1pm weekdays in the summer)
The show is incredibly lucky to have at best 1/3 of the original viewers.

What I really don't get is the DTV movies they keep making, Why not link them to Mystery Incorporated and use the style, characterization etc instead of just being random standalones every time.

Super Mario Bros. Super Show was really fun, and I argue that they had stories that were more fun than anything Nintendo has done with a mainline Mario game*. The Valiant comics were fun as well. SMB3 and World shows were way cheaper and worse.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer had a cartoon pilot... does that count? :P

*RPGs not included

Am I the old one here?

And my personal favorite...

Zeldashow.jpg

I think these shows were around 2 maybe 3 years.

Of those shows, the only ones I've really re-watched recently are Zelda and a little of Captain N via Youtube.

As a kid though, I really liked and looked forward to the SMB3 cartoon for how "Accurate" it was.

Zelda really had a lot of potential, it was a pretty damn solid series for a franchise that hadn't lacked the rich mythos it has now.

I really think Captain N could've been better if they followed the Comic Book version, but either way the story was never really wrapped up.

And you know, lots of people mentioning Spectacular Spider-man, but I have to say fuck that series, this series was a true tragic loss:

iMrGkl.jpg

Don't get me wrong, I like Spectacular, but I'm sort of miffed that hardly anyone mentions this gem. At least Spectacular got 26 episodes, Surfer only got 13 (with 13 scripts ready to be animated). Like Spidey though, it wasn't low ratings (it was reported that it had really good ratings) or quality, it was merely Marvel's financial problems at the time.

And while I'm on a Marvel kick

l2NEz.jpg

While not as tragic, this series had a lot of love behind it and was really solid. Yeah, it got to 26 episodes, but if it weren't for those crummy Fox movies, we probably could have gotten a second season with the likes of Galactus and the Inhumans and maybe more Marvel team ups.

Am I the only one that remembers The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty.

I'd almost forgotten about Turbo Teen, I liked that show way too much bad in the day, not sure if it would hold up if rewatched.

Is there really no way to legally own Megas XLR episodes?...

Oh man I was just watching this on Hulu. It's a shame we've never gotten a good long running FF show (or a decent movie). Something like FF could easily run 52 episodes and still have stories to tell. Shit, the show never got to Franklin, let alone Galactus and the Inhumans.

Unless you know someone who happens to have them recorded from the TV, then no. CN wrote Megas off as a loss, so they can get a tax break, so odds are we'll never get a DVD set. They are out there, like everything else, just not legally.

BdC09.jpg

Samurai Jack - Had 52 episodes so not really short lived, and I remember watching it as it was coming out thinking they need to move the plot along before the fourth season. Just too many filler episodes plagued the last season or so.

0i3tN.jpg

Clone High - So glad to see it being the first on the list OP. I was a huge huge HUGE Clone High fan when it came out, kind of embarrassing now that I think how big I was with it

ulbyE.jpg

Invader Zim - Ah the earliest huge internet meltdown that I can remember. They had some neat ideas where the series could go, but it did start to focus too much on Dib after awhile

eaSKl.jpg

Sheep in the Big City - Not a fan when it first came out, but repeated viewing showed me the error of my ways

KoIin.gif

The Critic - It had 2 seasons and definitely would have had plenty of ideas for years. I never read up on why that was cancelled, was it just the ratings? I do remember when they brought it back online with that Shockwave cartoons, but I don't think I ever watched them. I think they might be on the series set that I have though

HSfGn.jpg

Symbionic Titan - Screw CN for their reasoning behind cancelling this show. We'll probably not see this level of awesome from Genndy for a long time now

LBfrI.jpg

Clerks - Didn't see it until it was on DVD far after it was released. Awesome pacing for the show, feels like an early 2000 cartoon. Definitely needed more episodes

h0AZf.jpg

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes - Same idea with Samurai Jack, this show also got to 52 episodes and had an amazing first season. Hated what they had to do with the second season. I want more shows with elongated plots that are planned out accordingly

gM6J2.jpg

2 Stupid Dogs - I guess you could say it was a playground for some of today's well known animators. Loved the series so much

WRa1g.jpg

Sam and Max: Freelance Police - Amazing show, awesome VAs, has the best damn theme song ever. I even played the theme song to some of the Telltale devs that would come on this one TF2 server I frequented

1AIsR.jpg

Megas XLR - Deserved more everything. AMAZING theme song

T2wW0.jpg

Road Rovers - Only one season, remember watching it and liking it but I can't remember a thing about it except for the theme song. You don't know the horrors I've found while looking for images from the show

Many great titles here. I am sure we will add TRON, Green Lantern and Young Justice here eventually. And yes I agree that any good marvel animation usually is killed before its time.

I haven't seen this posted so...

Mysterious Cities of Gold like pirates of dark water was strange at the time as it told one long story. What was not strange is that it got cancelled before it could finish ala pirates of dark water and exo-squad.

You really should check out Nickolodeon's TMNT 2012. It actually is better than the original nearly every way. No nostalgia glasses needed. Pretty much the de facto TMNT show for me at this point. As far as I have seen it is pretty popular too so I think it is in no danger of being 'short lived'.

People really got to stop naming long running series and series that got proper endings. Chinner stop trolling. Aguirre, Harvey Birdman had a series finale.

I love you man, thanks, I'll definitely check it out >_<

thre was a show in the 90's that got rebooted like mid way thru , Iron man and FF4 were early morning sat cartoons. Once they redid the show it had way better art/animation, and basically followed the issues from Lee and Kirbys initial 101 issue run. Kree sentinels, the frightful 4 , Inhumans *black bolt one shot the thing lol*, DD, Black Panther, Hulk , SS etc . Was a much better show then it ended abruptly too along with Iron Man which still has the best intro music only second to thunder cats.

wat lol.

TMNT lasted 10 seasons. remember when Michelangelo lost his nunchucks and got that stupid yo yo thing. why did they do that.

Dragon Ball Z would be like, the opposite of this thread. shows that should have ended sooner. Buu saga stuff was weird.

Man, couldn't think of many but these posts reminded me of some

Megas XLR
Spectacular Spiderman
Symbiotic Titan
Mission Hill
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
X-Men Evolution

Probably more I can't remember right now.

You all have blood on your hands.

That sucks. I would have watched it but for some reason we didn't get that channel in HD.

Flapjack was fucking amazing. its like the Anti-Adventure Time.

no reason Flapjack and Chowder had to die, they could have existed just fine next to Regular Show and Adventure Time.

i fucking hate you CN.
Well 2 key members left the show to make their own. J.G. Quintel, a director and writer, created Regular Show and Pendleton Ward, writer and story board artist, created Adventure Time. Sure, Flapjack could have used some reshuffling behind the scenes but would it have been the same?

Edit: I don't want to come across as defending CN. Since they killed Thundercats, and the stories of all of these other shows... I, too, can't stand them. FFS, instead of renewing Tcats, they're coming out with a lego show with the same characters and plot as TC but with different names. WTF!

This thread makes me sad.

Mystery Inc was literally the best cartoon remake I'd seen in over a decade. They finally did it right and it was one of those things my kid and I equally loved, despite there being 30 years between us. :(

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the last movies. Character portrayal is leagues above what the movies failed at doing. It's a profound injustice that it's been seemingly buried by the CG series bearing the same name.

Also, I feel Invader Zim should have at least had one more season. It ended on frikin X-mas special for crying out loud.

"I don't get it, Why does he want to take over the earth so badly?. What does he have to gain or to loooose? and the Malfunctioning of the santa suit completely elude me"

I love that line

Batman Beyond
Samurai Jack
Kids Next Door
Well not so much short but unreasonably terminated fucking CN exec bs for the later two.

It's a damn shame. This show is so good.

Wait, that new Scooby Doo show is dead too?

CN would rather have the Annoying Orange show than actual good shows.

i dont know what their doing.

Huh? Isn't that show still going?

Well, they are saying that Avengers Assemble is replacing/continuing it, but I don't think it has the same people on it nor do I think it'll keep up with overarching plots. It could be as good as EMH was, but no one knows much about it yet.

Yup. Michelangelo lost his chucks 3 seasons in because of a ninja scare that swept Europe.

Welp there goes chances of a new Jonny Quest.

I wonder if this was actually good or I just wanted to see it really badly because I always had to leave for school when it was on.

The entire series is on Hulu, so I guess I'll find out.

Interesting. I thought the show as it was, was one of Disney XD's highest rated shows.

half season left then its done for good.

That sucks butts. This incarnation of Scooby Doo was by far the best one ever.

Yes, I said it. Wanna fite?
