Good YouTube reviewers/personalities

So, having watched the Errant Signal analysis of GTA5 that was posted earlier today (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=964600), I went on a bit of a YouTube binge and checked out a few of his videos.

I've now got a bit of a craving for similar videos (about gaming culture in general) and as I know nothing about what's out there, I've turned to GAF for recommendations.

Related channels gave me SuperBunnyHop which seemed very similar, in that it was well argued discussion about the medium.

Any recommendations for similar channels? I'm not really looking for humour as such (although that doesn't mean they have to be completely devoid of it), but anything in the same vein would be great to check out.

I only watch Classic Game Room, the guy just loves games.
He is always so positive, you want to play the game after watching his reviews.

wiiwievr is a pretty nice reviewer of Wii U, Wii and occasional PC games. His videos are quite professional but have that "old YouTube" appeal. He reviews games with his two kids, and his videos are mostly family-friendly, in case it's important.

Several GAF'ers have YouTube's they regularly use. I will see if I can list them later, a few are very good. I know SlasherJC has one, I know I have one obviously, and several other users on this forum.

Yes, Super Bunnyhop is very good.

Check out Extra Credits, although they rarely talk about specific games, rather about topics in game design with games as examples. Still, mostly good.

Razorfist The Rageaholic

My favorite reviewer by a mile. He's funny, is smart, he's metal, he's everything I look for in a soulmat-, I mean reviewer!

His retrospectives are awesome:

Elder Scrolls Series Retrospective

Deus Ex Series Retrospective

Thief Series Retrospective

Splinter Cell Series Retrospective

StarFox Series Retrospective

His Reviews are awesome:

Bound By Flame

Destiny Review

Watch Dogs Review

(My Personal Favorite) Super Mario RPG Review

His Vlogs, in which he provides commentary on the games industry, are motherfucking awesome:

The Video Game Crash Has Arrived

The Video Game Crashed Has Arrived Part II

The Death Of The Middle Market

The Indie Savior?

Do 'Hardcore' Games Exist?

Sub to this man or miss out on some excellent content!

I do not like the playtrough type of videos (gamegrumps, pewdiepie etc.) so I cannot comment on those really.

I really love watching Jontron and AVGN though. But usually I am not into yt personalities.

Extra Credits is a pretty cool video series, mostly focusing on the design aspects of games. They don't go quite as deep into some of the subjects as I would like, but they're consistent and have some other shows on the side that are pretty cool.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys.

My initial annoyance with finding good content on YouTube, was that everything seemed to be of the wacky/random/shouty humour, which many of these seem to avoid.

CGR's Mark is great, he might not be the most analytical reviewer out there and his jokes are often so terrible they loop back to being funny, but he clearly loves doing what he does and his enthusiasm is contagious. I blame him for way too many of my impulse retrogaming purchases. (Unfortunately, I still don't have a Vectrex)

This is the one right answer.

His Catherine review is seriously one of the worst game reviews I've seen on the internet. That and his rancid bias against Sony really made me not like the guy.

Two Best Friends Play. Pat is on GAF as Snapshot King. What a cool guy.

Hyperbithero and TheGamingBritShow are similar to errant signal and Super bunny hop. ProJared is a also another good mention

All of these guys are fucking awesome. Super super cool dudes.

Oh he makes that fact very apparent. I find it entertaining, but he's clearly not popular with fans of Kojima, JRPG's and Sony. And that's ok, it doesn't changer the fact that he's a talented reviewer.

His Sony rant is pretty funny too!

Lazy Game Reviews covers a ton of old PC games, both well-known and incredibly obscure, as well as the occasional thrifting episode, odd hardware episode or LP. Also really big on The Sims, so if you're into that series, his videos there might amuse you. Good examples of each would be his Extreme Boards and Blades review, the entire "LGR Thrifts" series, his Thrustmaster Wizzard Pinball Controller "Oddware" video. his Solitaire LP (seriously), or... well, I dunno what his best Sims video is, but there's this video of him playing around with the Clue mansion in The Sims 4. (He's also been quick to adopt 60FPS videos, so yay!)

Retsupurae is the channel where two Something Awful goons, slowbeef and Diabetus, riff on either bad LPs, bad Flash games or longplays of bad/incredibly goofy video games. It's pretty hilarious; good starting points would be LP Mario 64... really slowly, the Arise Flash series or their Darkseed Wrongpurae (if only so you can move on to their Darkseed 2 Wrongpurae, which is really slow-paced due to the player using a walkthrough to get through the game, but which has an insanely good payoff at the very end).

Yeah, we should have a thread for gaffer youtubers. I'd add my crappy channel to the list.

Slasher's legit. I know you also got a pretty prominent one. Then there's the big one, Jacksepticeye.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head, but I know there's more.

Slightly surprised no one has mentioned my personal favorite but as a huge fighting game fan I absolutly love Maximilian. He also has a second channel where he goes through games with his friends, he does a wonderful job getting hype about games for good reasons and not just cause their popular AAA titles. He only plays games he likes, and if you happen to like the game too, it's almost like beig in the same room with a bunch of friends playing the game. Just my 2 cents.

I still think the best thing Retsupurae has ever riffed on is the "Gaming in the Clinton Years" series of videos. It's basically a cheesy public access game review show from the 90s, originally called Flights of Fantasy and renamed when NAVGTR discovered it and uploaded the episodes on their youtube channel. Between the awkwardness of the actual videos, the commentary, and Diabetus' Clinton impression, I'm not sure which part I like best.

Oh yes, absolutely. Max is an awesome dood (with the awesomest dog :3) and his videos are one of the main reasons I've gotten back into fighting games after such a long break.

TotalBiscuit's is very useful. He just kind of shows you how a game performs and demonstrates how the game plays while talking about the mechanics. It can be kind of dry but it's more useful than a written review with a 1-10 rating to me.

Classic Game Room is a guy who just loves retro games and has an awesome setup and radio voice. He's been at it for years and I sometimes just find myself clicking through his channel for a very long time. Only problem is he just loves everything and never shits on any games even if they're not good.

JonTron is a guy who's consistently funny and plays some pretty obscure stuff on his channel.

Vaati and EpicNameBro are both great for Souls stuff. It's very niche but great content if you're into the series.
