That's all software. A firmware update away for the $99 Apple TV.

$299 is insanity.

I didn't say it was hardware or software, I just said what it's key differences were. Like Raistlin has been saying, there are other comparable devices out there that has similar functionality for the same price range. Sonos and Squeezebox are examples. For hardware, it has an audio amp built into it.

I'm disappointed there was no announcement on Google Glass.

I'm talking more about:

- continuing a movie I started watching elsewhere at a friends place
- listening to the same music, perfectly in sync with my friends. all online at separate places

Admittedly I've done something similar at one point and my original statement is a silly absolute, but the features the Q are touting definitely aren't things done often enough to warrant the price.

Doesn't that just have to do with the software, not hardware? This thing costs nearly as much as a Galaxy Nexus.

Google+ Events... please have Calendar integration.

Oh it does!

Yea I agree with that. I think the software features are interesting, and the price is, I'm guessing because of the amp, but it just doesn't appeal to me (or a lot of people in here, it seems). The ability to play non Google Play media would make it more enticing.

This is smart. It's one of the reasons I still use FB.

Shared playlist, sync playback among multiple units, and possibly headless.

Doesn't the remote app for iOS include a way for multiple people to vote on upcoming songs? Isn't that essentially what shared playlists are? As for headless, I'm pretty sure you can use an Apple TV headless, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by headless.

I guess syncing playback on multiple devices is unique to this though.

Sweet.

Google+ is so much better than Facebook. I really hope more of my friends make the jump over and start using it regularly.

Same- I'm trying to figure out the best way to get people to convert. The more I am on Facebook, the more I realize I am just looking at shit I don't care about (posts by people I haven't talked to in 20 years).

so starting with jelly bean, is the UI uniform for tablets and phones? as in, tablets also have the drop down bar?

Umm, it's been unified since Ice Cream Sandwich.

It used to have 3 collumns like Facebook. Now it has some hideous icons on the left side...

The new layout is a lot better. Less busy, the stream is bigger, and the left hand icon tray makes sense for eventual third party apps.

How do you have more Plus users than Gmail users?

Isn't Google Account = Gmail = Plus?

Even though people trying to downplay Google+ say they're the same thing, a Gmail account isn't a Google+ account.

G+ is superior for photo's

Yup. There's no way any sane person would use Facebook as their main photo storage, but with Google+ it's like one of the top three core features.

Auto upload is also magical.

"He's introducing Party Mode, and as photos are taken they get added to the event in real-time."

This is awesome, and I am guessing is based on the Pool Party app they shut down several months ago.

Does the Nexus Q support DLNA?

If not, it's a worthless piece of crap.

If it did support DLNA and had as wide support as wd live streaming player ($99) and also had Netflix and YouTube like the wd live streaming player, it might have some potential.

A built-in amp means nothing to me. I've got a nice digital connection straight into my stereo system. :/

Anyway, I can see this being a nice "concept" device for Google, one that they can harvest precious usage data from, but beyond that it is just a concept device.

Wrong, there are only 349 million Gmail users. Twitter claims to have 500 million, but the vast majority of them aren't active. (Mostly, spammers and secondary accounts.)

Vast majority of users on twitter dont use twitter.com or twitters own app unlike facebook and g+ where the apps related to them are from facebook and google respectively. There is no way to track active twitter users

The tablet is connect via USB/Ethernet dongle. So awesome.

Get a proper Google TV.

The Nexus 7 is awesome for the price IMO. I'm really surprised that they have a GPS in there, that's very nice considering that the Kindle Fire, iPad 2 Wi-fi, and iPad 3 Wi-fi don't have that.

Jellybean smoothness + Tegra 3 + Good battery + $199 = Win

Again the no SD card sucks, but since owning a Galaxy Nexus, I haven't cared much because I use Google Music for my library, which takes up the most space for me.
