why focus on video/photos?

1) video/photos are compelling
2) we can't show you/demonstrate easily the other stuff they use
3) small team, not a bunch of time to implement stuff.

but why not show the HUD at all?

but: google glass explorer!!

I like how the the glasses look just like Tag Heuer's sports frames from around 4 years ago. Best $400 I've ever spent on glasses tbh.

Isn't that like saying when the iPhone was unveiled what's the big deal about seeing the full web in a browser? You're just showing the Internet. The form factor and device that allows you to do that is a big deal.
There are Android goggles already.

That said, I'm not dismissing the overall package ... it and the services do make it a big deal. I was referring to the specific feature being demoed - live streaming. I don't understand why that specifically was causing people to freak out from a tech standpoint.

If people were just freaking out about the crazyiness of pulling off this stunt in general ... I get that and apologize. A few seemed to be freaking out about the specific feature though, and that's what I didn't get.

Also ... $1500 damn 0_o

I agree, the idea is cool but this demo makes it look like it's just a web connected camera.
Yes, that's all I was saying.

Why push this tech out so early if you don't even know what to do with it. Seems really backwards to me. Mature it in house a little bit more.

I mean i understand get it to the hands of devs. However, I'm betting it's so alpha its probably not even worth it from a dev perspective.

If even Sergey was fumbling you can bet their teleprompter died mid-presentation (also notice they were constantly looking down, probably someone feeding them notes from a screen manually)

In before dozens of tech blogs review the device as a consumer product and give it a 2/10.

I bet some will, but they seemed to handle the Cr-48 OK so I have hope the majority won't be that dumb.

The alpha versions aren't hitting until like 6 months from now dude.

No, he's probably looking into his glasses.
