Google I/O 2014 - The "L" word

They really like to focus on extremely small niches like people who want to leave their TV on for cycling pictures.

So is this it, no new Chromecast hardware?

You have all these brilliant people employed at Google developing all these niche stuff just because there's no better things to do.

This lol.
Who the hell leaves their giant TV on all the time?

I do. I don't have cable but I come home, turn the tv on, and I may cast music to it, then play a couple of YT videos friends sent throughout the day, cast a video from my pc and then it may sit for an hour playing the slideshow.

Sometimes I don't turn it on at all, No different than if I actually had cable and used it for strictly background noise.

This just means I waste electricity.

I love how they were throwing shade at Apple for incorporating things in iOS that were in Android years ago, and now are thumping their chests about enabling mirroring to Chromecast.

I wish my TV had just one more HDMI port :( I have to swap my Chromecast in and out.

Chromecast ver 2.0 or whatever with full power over HDMI port would be killer (or just fucking build it into the TV...)

We're going to give you a new way to waste electricity.

I think about this all the time. There was a brief period where we were making a huge deal about "vampire electronics", and how all our stuff in standby is leeching power to a huge impact.

Now we just expect that our 3DS and Wii U gamepad is always on the charging cradle, and that we should have a wireless charging mat that is always soaking up electricity.

Aside from the awesome looking new Ui this conference has been really underwhelming. Im much preferring apple's continuity approach to google's very fragmented use of their software across many devices.

Edit: oh wait never mind its happening!!!!

Huh, a HDMI switcher? You can get one on Amazon for $10.
