Got 3 PSP for nephews, what else should I get them

Likewise for DS threads.

...you loopy canard...

Back on topic, if you're going to give them a multiplayer game, know that you're going to have to buy three copies of it. So will it be three of the same game or three unique games?

Powerstone Collection, Dungeon Siege, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance are the cream of the crop for multiplay imo.

MUSTS:
those static cling screen protectors and Logitech playcase... I dropped my PSP a couple times off of shelves, desks, and such... I think it saved it, plus you can play it while it's still in the case, and charge it as well... plus, if they throw it in backpacks and such, it won't scratch up the rest of the finish or get chipped... They're both musts, and relatively cheap, especially for the amount of protection they give...

Tell them never to put it in the sack that comes with a PSP...

Hope it helps!

i disagree on the PlayGear Pocket that would be a bad thing to have a PSP in when its in a 9/10 y/o's backpack. The playcase has open sections that exposes the psp's ports to any of the food, frogs, dirt, burst pen ink, you name it from many things that can reasonably be expected to be found in a preteenage boys backpack. :P

Ok so my brother and I split up the cost and got my three nephews PSP (mainly because if one gets it the other will cry and his son wanted it really badly). Anyway they are the ages of 9-10.

What games should I get them and what assesories do you recommend? I was going to pick up three copies of sonic rivals tomorrow, what do you guys think?

why dont you get them 3 ponies and estates in the hamptons while you're at it?

however:
a) it gives more protection than not having one at all
b) what would you reccomend instead?

Wow, who would buy Sonic Rivals for anybody unless they hate them, trimming out the fat and games definitely not suited for the age group:

megaman powered up
marvel:UA
daxter
burnout
hot shots golf
loco roco
gripshift
mercury meltdown
x-men legends
ssx on tour
lego star wars
you're saying a 9 year old can play burnout, but not ridge racer or wipeout? huh?

From a Sony fan, retutn those PSP's and get them DS's... 9 or 10 is way to young, those thing's will be broken in a matter of weeks.

Monkey Ball (probably not multiplayer)
Hells no. Don't buy this shit. I am really a big Monkey Ball fan, but this game is absolutely not good. While game design sucks, the controls totally kill the last bit of enjoyment out of the PSP version. Get LocoRoco or Mercury Meltdown instead. Oh, by the way, Monkey Ball has a multiplayermode, you can play minigames with up to four players, but there are just six games and they aren't really all that great. Loading times between each round of the games will kill the enjoyment specially for young players.

The GTA's would be some damn good multiplayer, but don't know if you and your family would allow them to play GTA games at that age.

Burnout Legends would be another awesome multiplayer choice.

Syphon Filter also has excellent multiplayer, but it's a little on the violent side.

Tekken DR - excellent game with multiplayer.

Lego Star Wars - fun game with multiplayer. - if they actually like Star Wars, may want to check out Battlefront 2, can get it for ~20 bucks, and all 3 would be able to play at once.

For a great multiplayer game, the first PSP title that comes to my mind is Wipeout Pure. Also, Virtua Tennis was addictive as hell on Dreamcast, not sure how the PSP port fares though.

Other picks:

-Lumines 1/2
-Mega Man Powered Up
-Loco Roco
-Daxter
-Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast
-Tekken: DR

Some other picks, that I'm not sure really hits their demographic (then again I have no idea what kids play these days, I grew up playing a variety of stuff), but they are awesome games:

-Every Extend Extra (yes, I know I pimp this game in every PSP thread)
-Gradius Collection
-Ultimate Ghouls and Ghosts

Buy at least 2 each (for each PSP) of these (REQUIRED):

Put them on for your nephews because I'm almost positive they won't know how to do it correctly themselves. Make sure you put it on the right side. This should be the very first thing every PSP owner gets.
If you want to spend extra $$ for a screen protector (Hori is fine):

I highly recommend one of these for each PSP:

And finally, you should also buy them each at least 1 gigs' worth of memory, 2 gigs if you're really that rich...

Twisted Metal Head On, if you don't think the content is too much for them. Great game, great multiplayer, $20.
Wipeout and Gripshift are other top choices.

daxter has a bug trading thing, never played it myself... but it's a great single player game.
burnout legends is awesome.
loco roco is a really fun single player game.
we love katamari is one i'd recommend (espescially if they haven't played the other games in the series to death) and features 1 vs 1 multiplayer (each kid will need a copy for that though).

don't let people put you off your choice. the psp is a nice system and it's hard to pick holes in the library any more.

i mean, i prefer my DS, but I reckon your nephews are going to be more excited by the psp because it can do so much stuff. that's cool to a nine year old.

daxter
maverick hunter x
megaman powered up
wipeout (if they like racing games)

content wise these should definitely be appropriate for them. plus they're great games :)

and if they're into puzzle games you really can't go wrong with lumines.

Man, I forgot MH was even on PSP.

If Capcom brings MH2 Portable to the US, I'm going to have to break down and buy a PSP.

How was Tokobot, by the way?

Charming, somewhat easy. It's a great kids game, IMO.

I understand you mean well...but returning them for other systems was NOT part of his original post. I'm cutting you some slack from the "no derail" policy in this case, but I don't want this thread to go there.

You are a dumbshit. When you quote someone who got banned for what he posted...you get extra time in the penalty box.

oh yeah. completely forgot about tokobot. a pretty neat game actually. i liked it. should be a good choice for kids.

Got 3 Powerstone games! Thanks guys you came through once again.

BTW for the DS comments, I completely respect your opinion but it makes me wonder if you have kids of nephews. Imagine how shit you would feel if you had been begging your parents for a certain console at that age and they get you something completely different. And worst mention: "GAF said you'll break it plus they feel you would like this more".

As someone already mentioned at 9-10 years of age game reviews mean very little. Is all about what they have been conditioned to by the media :) Damn brats better at least give me a hug for this! Lines were disgusting today.
