Got 3 PSP for nephews, what else should I get them

PistolGrip

sex vacation in Guam
Ok so my brother and I split up the cost and got my three nephews PSP (mainly because if one gets it the other will cry and his son wanted it really badly). Anyway they are the ages of 9-10.

What games should I get them and what assesories do you recommend? I was going to pick up three copies of sonic rivals tomorrow, what do you guys think?

You got them three PSPs? That's crazy.
If one gets something for christmas the other ones go nuts. I spent 100 for each and my brother paid the other $100 (got the 199)

3 Nephews...Uncle Scrooge? :)

A screen protector is an obvious choice. I like the ones from Martin Fields, but there are other options.

As for games...I dunno what 9-10 year olds are into. LocoRoco and Tokobot are extremely cute...but I suspect that kids are more sophisticated than that these days. Then again, I doubt you want violent or intense content. Perhaps one of the many good racers on the system? Lumines? Daxter? Exit is good, but might not be as fast-paced as they'd like.

if this is real and not psp vm skip the games then, my suggestion is due to their ages (and responsibility level usually associated with that age), is to get them 3 heavy duty carrying cases for the systems.

these poor PSP are about to encounter EXTREME CONDITION.

Daxter...and I'd say apply a screen protector for them, but really, I don't think it'd make a difference to kids that age (and I doubt they'd care either, I can't remember caring my GB was scratched to hell :P). Carry cases are well-recommended though.

Oh and memory sticks/earphones are a must since you got the core.

You are generous.
Your nephews are spoiled.

My nephew is spoiled, he's getting an xbox 360.

OK . . . my intentions are selfish . . . I want someone that I can beat in NHL 2K7. :D

But online console gaming seems to be a great way to stay in touch with family that live far away. I'll be able to play against and talk to my brother & nephew. Add a Live Vision camera and we'll have free unlimited teleconferencing.

You shoulda just bought them some faberge eggs while you were at it.

Oh well what's done is done buy them Lumines.

megaman powered up
lumines/lumines2
ridge racer
wipeout
marvel:UA
atv offroad
sonic rivals
daxter
burnout
hot shots golf
loco roco
gripshift
ultimate gng (although that might be a bit hard for them)
mercury meltdown
x-men legends
ssx on tour
gradius collection

busted/lost/stolen within 6 months. not the kind of gift for a 9/10 year old.
Do you have firsthand experience with kids that age? Or are you hypothesizing?

----

Gripshift is another good recommendation, although it can be tricky at times. A lot of fun and quick loading times, though.

You guys are starting to make me regret the purchase =\. One of them has been begging for a PSP since it came out though.

carrying cases, screen protectors, and head phones (I'll let them steal them from the mom and dad's ipods). thanks

is Daxter multiplayer??? They like playing 2 or more with each other, that is why I was thinking sonic rivals

BTW isnt like the second best Halo player in the US 9 years old. Lil Poison no? Kids are hardcore nowadays. My Newphews kick my ass in most games.

I know you weren't talking to me, but my brother in law bought his 2 kids (12 and 10 years old respectively) each a psp and a few games when he refinanced his house and had a bnch of extra cash. Well within 1 week I was over at his house trying to fix one of them and the other one which still worked was scratched to hell and missing a face button that fell out when he dropped it.

wow when I was 12 I took good care of my GameBoy Color...that thing could be dropped from a second floor without a scratch tho.

That's too bad. :( Maybe I was an exception growing up, but I never had much of a problem keeping fragile stuff in one piece. It wasn't handhelds at that point, obviously, but my Transformers collection stayed like new until the day I sold them. Hopefully TheProfessor's nephews have better luck...

while you're at it, get UMD movies of course, i've heard they're all the rage
Ding!

a couple of their favorite movies on UMD wouldn't be a bad idea, really...it'd make them feel like it was their movies as opposed to the family's or something like that

Wow, who would buy Sonic Rivals for anybody unless they hate them, trimming out the fat and games definitely not suited for the age group:

megaman powered up
marvel:UA
daxter
burnout
hot shots golf
loco roco
gripshift
mercury meltdown
x-men legends

DS would have been so much better choice. Way better games for the kids and clam shell protects the screen so much better.

Invest in some form of screen protector, Logitech Playgear or the screen protectors.

Games multiplayer

Ace Combat X (dog fights airplane battles)
Untold Legends(Hack and slash, I think the rating is alright for kids that age)
Wipeout pure (8 player racing futuristic cars and weapons)
Ridge Racer (another racing game regular cars)
Monster Hunter (Some capture some monster deal RPG like diablo type game)
Ape Escape
Hot Shot Golf (kiddy golf)
Lego Star Wars II (believe it has two players)
Luminese (puzzle type game)
Ultimate block party (another puzzle game)
Naruto/Bleach games (anime fighting games not certain if they were released here)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (marvel hack and slash game)

Might not be Multiplayer games
Sonic Rivals no clue if it's multiplayer
Monkey Ball (probably not multiplayer)
Loco Roco (not multiplayer as well puzzle type game)
Katamari (Just roll over stuff)
Twisted Metal (car destruction game)
Marvel Nemisis(marvel hack and slash I think not certain)
Mercury Meltdown (another puzzle game)
Bomberman!
NeoPets( not completely certain about this one but I hear it's a good game for kids)
Crash Tag Team Racing(kart racing)
Bubble Bobble Evolution (Another puzzle game)
Viewtiful Joe( a lot of kids like this one believe it's single player)
Bust-A-Move Deluxe(Another puzzle game)

Sports Games
Virtual Tennis
Winning Eleven (soccer)
Any sport game they like but just make sure to get one of the better ones in the series.

did you not read the thread where a person who suggested this got banned?

not to mention you don't buy a kid a DS when you know they "really want a PSP"

Guys, when someone says they got a PSP and what else they should they get for it, it is not an opportunity to:

1. Tell the OP to "buy a DS"
2. Recommend DS games
3. Tell the OP how his decision to buy PSP was a wrong one
4. Any mix of scenarios that includes the words "DS" or any other collection of words that essentially means to anyone who reads it: "lolz I'm an asstarded loser who hates gaming."

If you come into a thread like that to say something like this, you're going to get banned. Likewise for DS threads.

Did you get the bundle pack or the core pack?

As for games, I'd recommend Burnout Legends (only because it's one of the few racing games I've played and LOVED).

holy shit is -jinx- really cleaning up the gaming forum? If so good job dude, continue this!

Hey what's neat if you have PS3 is that I believe when you buy PS1 games, a couple of them could actually share the game via PSP.

I've been interested in the various Capcom offerings, I mean I grew up with Capcom, they're awesome for that age range in males.

-Mega Man Powered-Up
-Loco Roco
-Ape Escape
-Sonic Rivals

Don't know..depends on what they like...

It wouldn't be a bad idea to by them also different games, that way they can trade when they get bored of each one...but that also depends...

How about PowerStone collection? I think it'd be appropriate for their age-level.
Wow I didnt think of that Thanks!!!

You guys have been great, I know exactly what to get. I might also have them come to my house for some PS1 downloads but only if they let me beat them at powerstone.

Thanks.

I suggest them two copies of Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, Power Stone Collection, or any of the Capcom Classics series. The Reloaded game supports one UMD multiplayer but the Power Stone Collection supports up to 4 PSPs linked.

I wholeheartely recommend Power Stone Collection if are giving them three PSPs.

Also give them memory sticks and screen protectors!

Burnout Legends has gamesharing, so all 3 can play from a single disc.

But Daxter is an all-ages (E-10) game that should not be missed.

Daxter
Powerstone Collection...

Both great choices...

Also:

Memsticks? Especially since you can find xmas deals of 1Gb sticks for $30-40... if that... I got an additional 2Gb stick for $40 not too long ago... impulse buy...

MUSTS:
those static cling screen protectors and Logitech playcase... I dropped my PSP a couple times off of shelves, desks, and such... I think it saved it, plus you can play it while it's still in the case, and charge it as well... plus, if they throw it in backpacks and such, it won't scratch up the rest of the finish or get chipped... They're both musts, and relatively cheap, especially for the amount of protection they give...

This:

Tell them never to put it in the sack that comes with a PSP...

Hope it helps!

Monster Hunter Freedom. It's not a kids game per se, but based on the message boards @ gamefaqs, kids love it. Not for the easily frustrated, though, so probably better for somewhat older kids (say 12 or so).

The new Yu-Gi-Oh game might also appeal to them.

Hot Shots Golf is a lot of fun
