Got a Galaxy S8, most impressive mobile games?

"Expect to only be able to play for a few minutes at a time before performance starts to wane."

So a slight upgrade over running it just for screenshots?

Hearthstone
Vainglory

They might not WOW graphically, but they are solid games at their core that can last you weeks, months, or even years.

Games I play and recommend on mobile.

1 - Final Fantasy Tactics
2 - Knights of Pen and Paper
3 - Downwell
4 - PinOut
5 - Horizon Chase
6 - Crashlands
7 - Potion Punch
8 - Teeny Titans
9 - Soul Knight
10 - Devious Dungeon

For those saying Mobile VR is not worth, they are probably talking about the first version of Gear VR. At least I think. Because I'm using the DayDream HMD and it is awesome.

Both the new Gear VR and the DayDream have controllers. Something that I think is a must for mobile VR, and the first Gear VR lacked.

Which, or if, you will pick it, is up to you.

Just so you know, anyone who here who hasn't posted Kingdom Rush incredibly wrong.

That is the best mobile game on smartphones (IMO), and by far the best tower defense game. In fact it's a step up because of the DOTA like Hero system in the latest entry's.There's another game that game out last year that's also essentially a clone of the Kingdom Rush Series. It's called Realm Defense, but it's actually really good still. The Kingdom Rush series and Realm Defense average a 4.8 rating on the Google Play Store. This isn't bullshit - they're a legitimately some of the high quality mobiles games you can play through.

Realm Defense follows the freemium model, unlike Kingdom Rush, but it works out because you really don't need to spend anything. You just play through the first two world's, three starring all levels and put it all towards the dragon or Ice Wizard hero as they are the best in the game. I've probably put 10+ hours in this game over the past 3 days and I'm on to the 2nd world.

Other games like Limbo, Momument Valley, Sky Force Reloaded, and a bunch of the Final Fantasy games are brilliant on smartphones, but I'd say the Kingdom Rush and Realm Defense and the closets to perfection.

In terms of replay value or total gameplay time, Kingdom Rush, Realm Defense, Sky Force Reloaded, and Final Fantasy Titles give you a ton of value.

The first Kindgom Rush is free now. Play that and if you like, buy the other ones.

Realm Defense is free too (as I've mentioned).

Do Google Play Opinion Rewards to earn credit store credits for doing occasional surveys. I did this to pay for all my apps/games.
I can also vouch for Monument Valley; It's a charming puzzle game that looks absolutely fabulous. Since you have an S8 it'll turn heads if they look at your screen.

In addition to that, I'd like to mention Alto. A side scroller that is pretty, has great performance, and is fun.

I would've pay for Gear VR but since it's free it's worth it. If I'm watching a movie by myself I just use moon player and use it. Works great.

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

like, you've tried some oculus games and your takeaway is that it's bad? Is this in comparison so PCVR or do you just dislike VR?

i've tried most of the ones people recommended. i think there's nothing anybody really needs to see or experience.
literally nothing came even close to "blowing me away".

it's a fun thing to mess around for 5 minutes, not worth the money or time to set it up.
for the record, i don't dislike VR, i think it has it's place in the future and it's what the future of games looks like.

Sounds like you do lol

certainly not. i'm very very excited about the future of VR. we're just not there yet.
i own a vive too, i like it. as a tech freak i had to have it and it's very impressive but it's collecting dust now, unless Valve is hitting it out of the park with their games, will probably continue to do so.

Wait, the VR in GearVR is not 3D?

It's 3D, but it only has rotational tracking - not positional. So if you lean in different directions the headset can't account for it.

I like to use the Gear VR occasionally to watch movies while lying down. For everything else VR I use my Rift.

Which Sky Force game should I start with? Any other worthwhile shumps on Android?

To throw my own suggestion into the ring, if you're looking for a rhythm game, check out Cytus. It is absolutely gorgeous and a blast to play. I've purchased all of the expansions for it and I think it's the best rhythm game on mobiles, period.
