It's really a bummer. This is the first new console cycle where I've regularly been on a forum and the like so I'd avoided most console war nonsense to this point. Bit of a shock and it's a shame nothing can be discussed without meme sprouting and flat out insults in the case of the post you quoted.

Anyways just assumptions and I do somewhat agree with you. Its easy to understand why some would be interested in the Bone. But it is also easy to understand why so many people are rising up against MS.

I put overheating issues/high failure rate as a bigger issue then DRM (that was repealed) and potential development issues, that CBoAT himself said would get better.

Overheating issues is a terrible, terrible thing. I don't see CBoAT holding news that bad from us, unless he wants to punish us for buying the system. :P Nothing is worse than buying a system that is going to break on your within a few months. Nothing. That would be the one thing CBoAT could say that would make me immediately cancel my Pre-Order, and I'm sure many others would do the same.

He hasn't given a reason to not but the XB1 though. Lots of rumours and reasons to not buy one instead of PS4. But in the OP, there's no 'instead' about it. So he obviously disagrees with the notion that I'm getting both consoles, when it actually makes perfect sense if I still want to play the XB1 exclusives that won't be coming to PS4 and vice versa.

I guess he can't reveal too much otherwise it'll reveal his position to MS higher-ups. If it's super duper bad news bears then then I imagine only a scant few people would know about it. Just dropping that megaton on us would narrow down the number of people CBOAT could be, which is bad considering he's no doubt on the top of Microsoft's hitlist. Keep them buns steel tight if you need to CBOAT.
 
Ok so the 'explosive' could be the revenge of DRM, but perhaps it's something more? I don't believe it will be hardware problems, but I could be something along the lines that Kinect DOES have to be connected for the console to work, even if MS say it doesn't, or the DRM was going to be a lot, lot worse, or perhaps the worst one of all... MS are dropping the xbox division and just going to produce set top boxes for TV...

lets speculate people! :)

You seem to be taking this a little personal. I never said you shouldn't buy an xbone. To some, which may include you, Forza or other exclusives are worth playing low res low framerate ps4 downports when it comes to multiplatform titles. If you think your enjoyment of your games is going to be worth the price, have fun man :)

We have insiders INSIDE MICROSOFT SAYING THAT PEOPLE SHOULDNT CONSIDER BUYING THE THING. It frustrates me that people complain about the state of the industry and then willingly choke down shit like this. I loved my 360 for most of this gen. I'm not some sony warrior. Every thing we know about the xbone suggests its a fucking mess.

I want to play Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive. I would be buying one if it wasn't for everything thats come out in the past couple months but I canceled my preorder a few weeks ago. It was just too much. Every day there's something new. Penello/Greenberg/Nelson lying and misleading people in their PR, cboat/famousmortimer leaks, resolution troubles. The games don't matter. These people going "herpderp but the gamezzzzzz" are bad consumers and responsible for everything this forum complains about.

He's trying to locate sources. I remember in one thread a mod said that if what cboat is hinting at is true then he would be returning to his fallout shelter.
 
I really don't understand why people believe everything that comes out of his mouth. Some guys here follow him like some Xbox fans follow MisterXMedia. It might not be 1:1, but the desperation/belief in some is visible just by how they respond.

Seriously, people buy what they want, why do some people make such a hassle out of it. No company is holy, so it doesn't matter what you do as long as you just enjoy your system(s) of purchase.

CBOAT was practically typing normal this time around.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that, rather than flipping the switch sooner than later, they were unable to completely get rid of the DRM that the system was originally designed around (namely, games no longer needing internet connections for verification, yet still being locked to hardware). Idle speculation, but whatever, I'm simply curious as to what else we don't know about the system.

so why don't you communicate your concerns for the xbox brand in a structured manner instead of talking about people swallowing farts or whatever
 
Guys, look at how fast this thread got to 3 pages. Anything CBOAT says is explosive. This is Gaf, we've passed 100 pages for an EDGE article. I'm just saying, let's not spin wildly out of control with speculation here. I'm sure CBOAT knows any number of things that would set Gaf aflame. And he knows better than to share all of them.
 
Oddly enough, I've done a complete 180 and decided to grab an XB1 over a PS4 this year (I'll end up with both next year) solely for Forza 5. I really appreciate CBOAT's posts though. It's nice to be able to make a more informed decision irrespective of the industry's (mostly) poor next gen coverage.

Hopefully the first gen Xbox One lasts long enough until the inevitable slim version replaces it in my game room / man cave.

Sony charging for online multiplayer is because they care about you? And if you blame MS for charging for Live and people buying it, then Kinect is Nintendo's fault. Agreed?

The entire road leading to the Xbone release has been paved with shit. Bad news isn't going to stop when it launches, next gen is going to have it's victors and those who struggle immensely.

Uhh, remember this is technically fantomena saying these things, not CBoaT. I believe CBoaT 100% but I personally don't know who the hell this fantomena guy is.

Besides, even if it is true, the message even says he's not 100% on this yet, so that's further reason not to care for now.

What kind of delusion is this? The only people hurting the Xbox brand on purpose are the executives of the Xbox division.
