It's probably not a good idea to buy new hardware at launch, regardless of the manufacturer. However this is an industry driven by hype, and people (including myself) love new shiny toys.
With the PS4 and XBone launch so close, and Steam OS/Steam Machines right around the corner, I think there has never been a better time to take a wait and see approach personally.

Wow, dude. Take a breather. Maybe some people still want the system because of what it can do, not what it can't. It offers things PS4 does not, and for some will make a great counterpart to the PS4 also sitting under their TV.

In a nutshell, that's the issue I have with buying an Xbone. Every bad decision MS has made, every bad design choice, it's all due to their desire to sell this thing as a media box first, games console second.
On the other side of the fence, every decision, every design choice, they've all been made for the benefit of games and gamers.
"It's all about the games" is why you buy a PS4, not an Xbox.

Once we get our little boxes on the 22nd and sit through shit load of updates, start playing hopefully, I honestly don't know what the fuck to expect. Perhaps the 30 cars in 3 months for $50 is what he is referring to? Which is monstrously expensive and is making me question my Forza purchase, specially because I am looking forward to some online action, but what if I don't want to dish out $50 and the cars I will be stuck with are shit compare to the DC? Smdh... What if that's the way MS is going this time around with all games? Overpriced download contents, day 1 content availability for the price of a full game? I don't know what to think atm.
I have never been a fanboy for any console but I preferred the Xbox. What you just stated is the exact reason im going back to Playstation after all of these years. Call it what you may but in my mind your statement is 100% true.

meh... It's a weak update though. Bishoptl already hinted on another thread that there could be worse xbox one news to surface but without clarification or hinting on what specifically (perhaps Cboat didn't pass that info to him too).

it was always my money thus always my decision and problem not for some net warrior to tell me what to do with it and it's a shame you see it that way but I don't and it offers plenty for me to look forward to.
as for enjoying meltdowns. pretty sad to have that attitude so common in gaming.
I've been warned.. you'd think it was a terminal illness. the capacity for being a drama queen is high in this one. good to have perspective on games machines.

The concern you should have for XB1 games should be related to the fact that Microsoft have done nothing but phone it in for years with the 360. There are plenty of games for the first, second (maybe even third) years - but you should question Microsoft's ability to deliver a steady stream of quality titles by that point.
If they don't he can sell the system MS has the games that a lot of people want to play right now not in 3 years.
If I was worried about games that are coming in a couple of years Id be one of those suckers who brought a PS3 to play FF:Versus or TLG.
I think that the people saying 'what's wrong with wanting to buy it for the games?' are being a bit dense. I don't think anybody's denying that there are probably going to be good games on Xbone, only that, firstly those games are not worth paying $100 more than the competition for, and secondly that it's a bit like saying that you would happily wade through a trench filled with shit in order to get to an Apple store to buy an iPhone. I mean cool, you've got an iPhone. But was it really worth wading through the trench full of shit to get it? Most of us didn't have to do that for our iPhones.

That list of games doesn't negate the fact Microsoft have not been focusing on the games and that such a lack of focus has resulted in a weaker machine, that is more expensive, and is fatter in design. With a more esoteric development philosophy needed to get games running on the thing.
