This is so true, my EB games is still trying to sell CE's of GTA4 and MW2.

This is a CE I actually want so that means it will be in short supply and incredibly rare. That's how it works.

Could you do me a favor and make some pics of the content of the CE? Because I have absolutely no idea what could be inside the APEX book.

Got my copy this afternoon and played for 2 or 3 hours.

I have to say I´m not impressed at all. I´m actually disappointed.

I don´t want to go into detail, but let me just say that the game is lacking polish and the graphics are not what I expected.

Some tracks and cars look really aweful.

Music is annoying as hell and the menus are clunky.

I´m kind of mad at this game right now.

Yeah, they're DLC cars that you get with the CE. But unlike the Stealth cars, the Chrome Line cars are just stock cars with custom liveries. So they don't have any performance upgrades.
Ah ok, i see. Maybe they are only available for the CE to begin with, for a few months or so. It was like this with the God of War 3 Ultimate Trioligy Edition for example, which had some exclusive combat arena (not the standard one that is already in the game) and some exclusive skins, but these things are now for sale on the PS Store (at least in Europe). Maybe we will see something similar with GT5 too, that the Chrome Line cars will be for sale on the PS Store in some months or so :)

Wait, Che trolled the stream? :lol

No, he wasn't trolling. Actually it was the other people trashing him for no reason (well no reason during the streaming at least :lol ).

Can I watch this feed somewhere? Will they upload the footage to a youtube account of theirs? Why do I miss so much!

The streaming was saturday morning (CET), we streamed the first 8 hours of the game.
We didn't upload our footage on Youtube simply because we were banned from it for supposedly uploading copyright infringing videos from Rockstar games...
Youtube is a pain in the ass when it comes to copyright owners. We were getting sick of Viacom and co claiming to have made our videos. The last warning (meaning banning) from Rockstar was just the final nail in the coffin...
We saw that some people uploaded our videos on youtube (even some part of the streaming too) though, so you should be able to see them there if you can't see the dailymotion streams or can't download the videos. ;-)

And thanks guys for the positive comments, it makes us happy to see what we're aiming for (best quality possible) being recognized ! :)

I always chuckle when I see a stack of Halo 3 cat helmet editions selling for <50 bucks at a big box retailer.

I'm happy about consoles being a long time investment but with games like GT, you can't help but feel that with more powerful hardware, PD could approach a level of graphics closing in on photorealism. As it is now, it seems to look great but somewhat (or a lot?) limited by the hardware. It is one of those cases where i wouldn't mind paying for more powerful hardware today.

As a GT newbie, i have the impression that a lot of the confusion on the graphics comes from the fact that PD releases very few (or none) ingame footage prior to launch. Footage and pictures mostly consist of photomode and replay stuff, wrapped up in splendid trailers. You get all this super cool clean looking stuff which makes the actual ingame footage somewhat dissapointing or shall i say unexpected.

As my first GT (prologue not considered), i'm curious about the game. I hope it's first and foremost an enjoyable race simulator.

Judging by that post, it feels like visuals are the most important thing to you. It's all good man. I still don't understand, why driving 800+ cars different cars in a car driving game is overwridden by the looks of those cars. driving>looks, no looks>driving. Which is fine.

Such a detailed and thorough breakdown. I, for one, applaud you for not resorting to vague comments in describing the game.

Out of curiousity, what type of graphics did you expect? Although that the PS3 hardware is powerful, it is afterall like 4-5 years old.

Nobody is talking about this?

What happened to all the people that said it wasn't so?

Same thing that happened to all the people that said the world was going to end because of Y2K. They just kind of disappear and start ranting about something else to draw attention away from what they were claiming before.

... unlockable damage modelling?

that makes no sense to me.

No, it makes perfect sense. It starts out as Gran Turismo, then slowly as you gain levels it transforms into iRacing. But it doesn't stop there, it goes from simple damage to extreme damage, so from iRacing to Destruction Derby to Burnout to Carmageddon :)

Maybe it's supposed to change the difficulty curve a bit? Make the first few hours a bit easier. It is annoying how hidden the system appears to be.

But who cares, dude says the games aweful.

Maybe it is to get people used to the game first and then add damage (which adds more challenge to the game) later on. But it can also be that the tires wears out over time and that it was just a coincidence that he got this at level 10.

EDIT: Others have already answered on this i see :)

Could it be because you've actually been playing Blur, RDR, Costume Quest and Scott Pilgrim tonight?

I expected the graphics to be better than Forza 3. Wich is not the case.

I would even say Forza looks better.

Again - these are just some quick thoughts after maybe 3 hours.

This seems in pretty stark contrast to some of the other impressions from people who got it early. Can you tell us what cars/tracks look like shit? Im assuming your talking about standard models?

Guys you have to understand that not everyone is gonna like the game.
Just because someone doesnt like GT5 it doesnt mean he is trolling.

I know we got trolled hard on previous threads but lets respect others opinions.

che shows up and immediately starts asking to inspect the standard models & zoom in continues to keep talking about them.. in the midst of everyone having seizures at the feed. Typical.. Trashing = calling him out for misleading folk about certain games features..

Well if a guy like Kaz is focused on making a real driving game, the focus should be on the driving and getting accustomed to it before unleashing all the hell that damage and crashes may bring.

Makes sense to me, just think of everything beforehand as training.

Alright, all this hate... sounds like GT5 is the disappointment of this generation...

Hey, who wants to guess Metacritic scores? 85, 80? Pfft...

:((

Ok, i see. I have heard both, some say that GT5 has better graphics than Forza 3 while someone says it doesnt. Maybe it variates from what TV that is being used, but i have no idea.

If this is true I'll be one sad panda.

But hell, even GT5:Prologue looks better than Forza 3. Are you saying the graphics are worse than GT5P?
