That face does look familiar. Pretty sure I've seen it some where. Btw, it's probably a good idea to spoiler the actual image. You're just giving the trophy away.
GT5, Rubber banding A.I -- is this still the case? Has anyone tried the harder races? I Imagine its there for the early stuff.. but no-rubber banding made online expert 100% harder than GT's ever been..
and i love it
But id imagine its in, magic 1 lap races seem just impossible.. as do most of GT's setup, starting you off in 16th and catching 15 cars in 3 laps..etc..
GameStop update: called them to check on availability only to find out they're doing a midnight launch tomorrow (Tuesday) night and are not selling before Wednesday.

The official site is back up. Some of the Asian pages have updated with timers but aside from that the individual pages are unchanged. But they've removed the ZR1 (GT PSP's cover car) from the homepage and replaced it with the SLS AMG.
Amar, has GT5 got rubber banding A.I.? I know the previous games didn't but if this game does have it then I'm going to be pretty annoyed to be frank.
I know the PSP version had it and I hated it. You could drive well for 95% of the track and if you mess up in the last sector then you're simply fucked.
Hehe Well, i do understand if people question him when he basically just said "i have played it for 2-3 hours, i dont want to go into detail, but i am not impressed" and not really saying much more. And you (generally speaking, not refering to anyone particular in this thread) might also wonder what responds to expect if you basically only write that you arent impressed by a game in an official thread where maybe tens of people, or perhaps even hundreds of people are looking forward to a game.
But if he isnt impressed with the game, that is his opinion and i fully respect that. As someone else already wrote, GT5 isnt a game for everyone (i have no idea if he likes driving simulators in general or not). If he expected much better graphics, no problem, but the PS3 is afterall 4-5 years old now, and while it is a powerful device, it still has it's limits From an objective standpoint and not just my personal opinion, i would say that the graphics in GT5 are impressive when compared to other PS3 games. But maybe he was talking more about his initial impression of the whole game in general and not just the graphics.
No, don´t worry. I saw one of his videos talking about some unlockable thing but he advised about it and said to switch off the video if you didn´t want to spoil yourself...
The AI being more difficult as game difficulty increased was talked by Poliphony in some interviews, but is good to know this is still like that after all the doubts about the subject.
I figured he was talking about a part of the game with a cg documentary, flashback or something which would take place in the correct time frame. Why would PD artificially age him? makes no rational sense to think that way. Sorry for giving goldrusher the benefit of the doubt then and not taking what he said literally.
They had a problem with their database and some credit card info got stolen. Personally I never had a problem with them but I use virtual credit cards with limits. They're prices are pretty good.
The AI steps it up in the Extreme Series. Just had my first close finish.
I'm not digging the tire wear model though. It feels like its been the same the whole game so far, and if you add any amount of HP to a car you will go through tires in an instant. I added about 100HP to one of my Benz's, and even with assists on my hard tires are wearing out after half a lap on the Nordschleife.

If you are using Sports tires, that´s how it should be. Racing tires were made for racing, they are the ones that can last a good number of laps even with high temperatures and other factors.
If you were on Racing Hards, then it´s a shame, because it shouldn´t wear like that.
I've been saying this all along about the AI and Amar tries to reassure, but every video still show those GT AI legacy issues. I still pick it up since I'm vested with the freaking Steering wheel. But I don't like the fact that the AI is forrest gump status.
has anyone attempted special route 7/5 with Nascars yet, with no headlights it will either be glorious or desasterous but still funny non the less :lol
Did any of the Gaffers who got the game early get the CE?
Question regarding this:
I'm assuming this works just like the MGS4 CE - the actual game and case you get with it (US version) looks just like the standard edition. It's the other stuff, and the big box it all comes in that looks fancy. Is this correct?
As I've mentioned before, I'm getting the standard edition on launch day, but I have the CE ordered to arrive a few days later. :lol
My concern - is there any sort of time-sensitive thing during start-up initially where it's like "Please enter your CE code now to unlock your content" and I won't be able to do this?? :lol
(less than 2 days to go and I'm just freaking out about any thing I can think of)
Is it the CE edition? Mine is and there's no change either. But I am on next day delivery so I am expecting dispatch tomorrow (please, please, please, please). That said I'm getting my brothers game from Tesco around midnight Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. 24hr shopping, they have to give it to me....
I'm sorry guy, whether you've got this or not, you have turned this thread into crap with your Forza comparison. And while I do agree with Fersis that yours or anyones opinion is to be expected, it should not matter. The reaction your posts are getting is like you are the highest credible source for reviews in the world. No one should even care if they know what's in store when they get the game. It will be very comprehensive. This hysteria or things like your posts are why I hate the internet. We know this game will be amazing but someone comes and says something and then people blow up over nothing.

Ok, so I'm like 3 hours into the game and I must say I'm loving this. Sure, trees on the original GT tracks look disappointing, but who cares, the game overall is really beautiful, just be real and don't expect Crysis 4.
The game mechanics, the steering, the acceleration etc. work very well and feel very real to me. Handling is awesome and the mere possibilities as far as options and tuning goes are great. As for the engine sounds, I really have to say - could be better, but nothing you should worry about.
As for sounds.. the OST is pure awesomeness. Are they planning a CD release or something? MUST HAVE imho.
I don't know, but the overall game package feels just right and that just starts with the very, VERY beautiful menu. The last time a menu impressed me that much was MUBI, so yeah.
I need to say that I was driving cockpit only cars til now, so I need to find out how the overall experience will change over the time, but as for now, it's pure sex. Tried driving the short Eiger Nordwand track while snowing and with cockpit view it's so much fun to drive that track, because of all that snow in front of you and you can see like nothing. But if you switch to a different view, it's like the magic is gone and everything is clear. So we'll see I guess.
Btw, I still don't have an option for custom tracks. Haven't finished all licences yet tho .
There is zero rubberbanding in the game. On that last race even despite the fact the lead AI car was driving well, he was occasionally dropping a tire off course and eventually I was able to pressure him enough for him to leave me an opening. There's a hot/cool meter in B-Spec races leads to drivers making more mistakes when "hot" and I'm convinced that applies to AI drivers in A-Spec as well.

I presume this is going to be one hell of the review-opinion-rollercoaster. And at the end, everything comes to this simple question and answer to it:
What do YOU find important?
There are so many variables to be made when going deep into Gran Turismo 5, and I can safely say that less than 10% of actual players will experience the real magic of this game.
I went different way than almost everybody whose reviews I have read have, and I really can't understand what has become important in gaming today.
At this point I'm at the Lv 16 of my career. I have spent initial 4 days in golding all Licenses and doing Special Event races in the order they were unlocking. Licenses doesn't get you many XP as I though, so my leveling was indeed slow, but wort the goal in my book. I almost haven't raced any A/B-Spec race (only initial Sunday Cup) in order to finish what is the Core of the GT5 experience first - before online launches on 24th.
My setting s are all-assists OFF, ABS on 1, cockpit view (all in-game races are done with premium cars) and I drive with G25 (no clutch) - only assists can be those forced by game (Skid Recovery Force in Licenses and sometimes in certain races of Special Events).
At this point I managed to gold al 60 Licenses and to gold majority of Special Events races I have available. And this initial week I consider to be the best virtual racing week of my life. I do not care about jagged leafs in shadows, occasional slowdowns in rare circumstances or pixelated graphics for few moments when volumetric smoke kicks-in.
I care about having the most precise force feedback effect ever witnessed in video-gaming, overwhelming sensation of tire-grip and weight-transfer, beautiful sceneries on every corner, crazy sounds of cars on my 5.1 surround and that special feeling of real feel of the surface under the wheels that no other game has accomplished to provide. And yes, I also speak about Uber-Race of PC world All-Stars.
Fight against the torque, tires and rear-axle of
Ferrari 512BB on Rome
track during I-C 10 License is magic.
All Licenses in S class - One Lap Magic races - are phenomenal experience -
from Monza, over LeMans, Madrid or Top Gear Track. Lexus IS-F on LeMans
, with cockpit view, force feedback on 8 and maxxed-out surround - everyone who ever thought for a second that cars and driving are good thing should experience that.
And then came Special Event races. Top Gear Challenges, Tier 2. Level 8 needed. 2 lap battle against
11 Lotus Elises 111R - you start as car #12 - on N1 tires and no assists
. You can't ignore the cruelty of AI, the cruelty of grip and insanity of tire-snap. It is the GT5 at it's best so far, jewel in the crown of 25 years of virtual racing existence.
And than comes Grand Tour Races, with striking drive of
F430 Scuderia on Monza in Ferrari Manufacturer's Race
, followed by what is the most thrilling "non-racing-track" experience in my 13 years of playing Gran Turismo -
point-to-point race on Toscana Night with Murcielago LP640 on R2 tires
, 3 minutes of pure horror while track fades from sunset to full-dark while fireworks rips the starry sky above. Trial and error. Catching the
F40 before the fierce middle straight in order to catch Scuderia
in the last corner before the finish line.
And last, but not least, whole supremacy of Nordschelife in AMG Driving School. Everything in both Licenses and Special Events is Gran Turismo reborn. It is 1997 all over again, everything is old-school, everything is pure finesse and crazy knowledge of car, tires, track and brakes. Gran Turismo at it's finest ever. And somebody talks about shadows? Leafs? Standard cars? You have to be ignorant in driving and racing and really love your controller in order to have priorities in such a deeply wrong order.
But whatever. Answer at the initial question will be crucial on the subjective front. You have to know what is important to you. As always in the life.
On the other hand, do yo have any idea who is this guy?
. Trophy says he's somebody special. How special? Thanx for sharing a knowledge.
BTW Fanatec wheel works flawlessly, tested few minutes ago with 911 Turbo S and Clubsport Pedals, here is what my friend Dzidza have to say:
So, Fanatec users or potential customers - have no fear. The firmware is the same as the latest at 911 GT3 RS V2, so it will be no problem there too.
Thanx for read, regards to all.
See you online in days to come, I can't wait for professional reviews made on the same day when whole Community portion - with still undisclosed features that even SCE London have no idea about - will be launched.
Say hello to probably the greatest ignorance in the recent history of gaming-journalism, rollercoaster we're up for a ride will not be a nice one.
Personally, I still find the low res rendering of particle effects against other polygon edges highly annoying. And that's where my complaints on visuals stop.
