Omg has anyone driven in the rain yet? There is a really weird pixel blur/water/wtfisthisshit effect all over the cars. This is disgusting.

And it only shows up when you are using the over head cam. =/

"The one thing I don't like about GT5 is that it's almost too good."

Well, the driving anyway. Graphically, even with the lifelike lighting, some environments feel too sterile. But that's GT. Tearing, though...aye yai yai.

Still, worth the wait. Epic. Premium cars are Keanu-whoah!

Anyway, hard to understand the omission in Career mode.

It's really not that useful, IMO. It's more a novelty than anything.

Imma bake a pie while I wait for this install, then imma test out my new baby.

And yes, I'm purposely ignoring everyone's rants until I play the game myself. I better not hate it, I spent hours masking that wheel mount!

720p results.

Tested Trial Mountain again (GT4 track port). Normal race has screen tearing. Time trial, no screen tearing.

London, normal race I didn't bother, time trial had loads of screen tearing still, in the same spots as with "1080p" mode and with cars on the track.

Checking out the headtracking now, yeah the camera only gives me the red light once I start up Arcade mode. Not entirely bothered by it, pretty fun feature, but it would have been nice in Career.

:D

I can't get it to work in Arcade mode. Is there an option I have to select?

hows the stability on that thing? cost?

Just did a Tsukuba 5 Laps Battle a la Best Motoring with some friends online using only stock 90's Japanese sports cars, I used a NSX and won of course :lol Then we tried to see who could get closest to the wall while drifting without hitting it, with some epic results.

After that I tried to drift the entire Cape Ring North track without stopping but the jump kept messing me up, its hard to hold a drift over a jump :lol but drifting the entire spiral while getting as close to the wall as possible is really satisfying.

Blasphemy. Don't ever buy standard cars and only use cockpit view inside your premiums.

This is The Real Driving Simulator, do you drive your car like him?

Just kidding, obvisouly

Yeah, the tearing is kinda bad. So those that are anal about it are going to have a hard time with the game. Hopefully they patch in a V-sync option like I said earlier: I can't give a shit about 60FPS, if it's 30FPS and I don't get tearing in the middle of my screen in a race, I'm fine with 30FPS.

I've only played for a few hours but I really am enjoying GT5 so far. I love all the hate I'm reading about the random things about this game that has nothing to do with the graphics. For what it is, GT5 is great but sadly, it doesn't live up to the standards some have in their mind. I didn't expect 1000+ Premium cars (which would probably take years alone to do) and I expected some of the tracks to look better than others. I didn't expect the vast amounts of things to do and experience in the game. From the menu display to the amazing soundtrack, I really love GT5. Some of the smaller complaints don't affect me from enjoying the game and some of the stuff can be patched. Either way, GT5 is well worth the $60 :D

Hm, haven't noticed a single screen tear in my 2 hours of play .... played time trial and race .. 1080p.

I've seen it in premiums in cockpit and go-kart racing in the beginner 'kart trials. It game up in the middle/on the driver while racing. It doesn't happen too often in my 720p (or is it 1080? I think GT5's the first to auto-select 1080i for me), but it is noticeable when it does happen in the middle of the screen.

That said, it isn't game ruining, but it is annoying and those anal about it are going to be driven up the wall.

What if they didn't go into as much detail with each "Premium" car so they could do more from scratch with cockpit views, etc. - but only give us 500 cars?

200 premium w/ 800 standard where there's like 1838 Skyline's and 2982 Civic's seems a bit ridiculous.

It's a rock. Just finished the paint job last night, so I've only tested it in it's bare skin, but I'm guessing it'll stay the same.

I'm guessing it's about 40 bucks worth of pvc. And then about 30 bucks worth of paint and tape.

And the good thing is that when he's done, his hamster can move in

If they made clear pvc, I would've put some hamsters or mice or snakes or bears in there fo sho!

Yes. The original release of GT5P, Spec 1, was a mess. They patched the game twice. Spec III was pretty good. That's what it's at now.

thank you.

i hate tearing so much. cant wait for nextgen with triple buffering

Holy fucking shit, every track has screen tearing, even the GT4 ports.

:( :( :(

Don't know if I can even play the game again. Migraine already.

You speak the truth,
It is just terrible. Between that and the giant pixel shadows and the random ultra low rez textures this has to be one of the most graphically uneven games I have ever played.

I do enjoy the driving model with the g25 though. Very nice feel.

only had a brief taste this morning but somehow my day at work is going unnaturally fast

spirit of the lambourghini inside me?

or maybe just spirit of the plucky little go-kart

Damn the whole online set up is amazing. I'm impressed. And the voice chat quality is incredible. So clear I swear I thought the "game" was speaking at some point. Like Ridge Racer you know.

I really hate all the menus and popups you have to go through when you get new cars... can't they just be delivered straight to the garage. Do I really need to open each "ticket" one by one?

ugh......

I see tearing EVERYWHERE is GT5. (at 1080p)

And yeah, cockpit view is ugly went it rains. Those wipers swing back and forth between 1080p and Atari 2600 when I'm behind a car.

they did that because you can choose to gift the tickets now

worst tearing offender ive seen till now is london for me

Just to give everyone a heads up. To join a persons lobby go to the community tab on my home. After that, click on the persons name and click on the coffee cup. When someone is online the coffee cup has a yellow icon on top of it.

Yh I have full faith in PD supporting this game even months after release, it's the main reason why I did drop the £35 on this. It obviously will not be things like all the standard cars being premium or adding cars in a patch like they did with prologue however still something substantial. Keep saying it but online leaderboards being added makes me happy, online right now is already really good but it must be said that while it's silky smooth the online is not exactly amazing. How PD needed a separate team to make that is beyond me, must consist of about 5 people for that to make any sense or maybe there are additions to be made. For example we can't play B Spec online yet so it has to be coming soon.

Some people notice it far less than others. Consider yourself lucky.

I'm happy being ignorant of it of the most part however being part of Gaf has made me notice it more and more and more. :(

I don't have a wheel, but the driving model is excellent. Somehow they still have the engine sounds completely wrong, I don't know how given all the time and resources they have, but the driving is lovely.

Unfortunately, I won't be playing again unless they patch out the screen tearing. My head's throbbing right now and I can't go through this every time I play.

i'm really keen to test out the photo mode more. in a replay it really seemed like the aperture settings were relatively giving way too little dof, but it might have just been motion blur playing tricks. the stuff you can do with composition from replay mode though is frankly absurd

i didn't notice a replay rewind button though, which is understandable - but it would be extremely handy. am i missing it?

Yeah, I feel bad for you. GT5 is probably the first "tearing prone" game I own where it is notice-able and annoying for me. :(

Also Go-karts are fucking awesome addition to the game. At first I was like "who the fuck is going to race those?" But after buying one (holy shit 5,000 credits, CHEAP!) I'm like "OH HOLY FUCK! THIS IS AWESOME! BEST MODE EVER!" :lol

Someone needs to make some good kart tracks in the course editor so GAF can have some weekly kart racing private games going on. :lol

The game is awesome as expected :D

With that said, I have a question. Where the hell do you turn off the damn line and assists? I'm probably missing something completely obvious, but I just can't seem to find the exact menu =/

The one before the race. It's not in the main game settings.

So all in all there may be negligible performance gain from lowering the resolution to 720p?

I've the game and I have it installed. I am wondering whether I should refrain from playing it until a performance patch arrives and mitigates this issue and adds leaderboard support (I still have 20 or so games still untouched collecting dust)...
