Passing them is the easy part.. Catching up to the first two while not hitting any walls is the tough one.

And tell me about it. I made the mistake of telling my GF my second wife had arrived. And now she's extra anal about getting more time from me. It's like she's in competition with GT5 and wants to know for sure I want her time more than time with the game. Bloody annoying as truth be told, right now, as much as I miss her and all, GT5 is keeping me thoroughly occupied!

Ha unfortunately that is a battle of will I am way to familiar with.
 
That wouldn't really bother me because I keep my wheel in an ottoman and bring the table out from another room, so the wires are only there when I play. It tears down pretty quick like then? It's just a lever pull and it collapses right? I'll probably throw this sucker on my xmas list then.
 
The more I progress, the more I believe this is one of the best game ever created, it just gets better and better and I don't see the end of it.

With PD still running things I seriously doubt it. Its clear to me that their goal is just too big for them to reach on their own.

I really do hope that they constantly update the game ala iRacing. A few tweaks and fixes on the core physics model, dlc cars and tracks and perhaps some additional game features as well. No nickel-and-diming please.
 
Online kart racing is epic. Had several 14+ person races on Laguna Seca, Suzuka East, Tsukuba, Rome and Eiger.

There is a nasty bump on Rome at the chicane that is the death of karts. We didn't find that out until there was a group of 6-7 together trying to make that turn on the first lap. Hilarity and chaos ensued.

It pisses me off how quiet rear engine cars are in cockpit and bumper cam. I can barely hear the engines well enough to know when to shift. Now that I think about it might be something to do with my setup.

I am just using a 3.1 right now because I don't have room for the 5 or 7. Using living room and auto settings on GT5 sound settings. maybe I need to reduce it to 2 speakers?

If it thinks I have more speakers setup it could be that it is trying to output the rear engine noise to speakers that aren't there. I might have to play with my settings a bit more.

Which car is better, Ford GT or Chevy Vette? I'm level 15 with 600k, looking to build a car that's better than my GT500 stealth GT-R.

Having to go back to the menu to reselect the race is fuckin nonsense!
 
I haven't bought it myself but the F40 is available in arcade so you could test it there.

intermediate AMG Driving School
.
Then prepare for night and rain awesomeness !

Also, don't make the same mistake that I did, buy some rain tires for your career cars first !:lol

no clue :P i have been using the cars i win at events and stuff

and btw i must have unlocked the uber damage because my R8 on every slight bump on a wall gets damaged
 
This game is kicking my ass. :lol

I have to fight and claw my way to every gold in license test(and only up to ic so far), so I took a break to try the AMG academy... one event took like a dozen retries to pick up the gold cup

I look at the vastness of the whole thing and wonder how many hour long battles there are for each little icon. :lol

And also, is there a way to fucking permanently turn off traction control? I'm so tired of resetting it back to off each time.

How damaga is unlocked is beyond me. I am A-Spec level 18 and have not seen damage yet.

I'm level 11-12 and i've sene damage on my GT-R V Spec. Admittedly I have to literally slam the thing in to pure solidness at a billion miles per hour to see it. So it's not exactly currently remotely realistic. Maybe later is my guess.
 
Tried 3D and headtracking yesterday.

3D is ok, but disappointingly there is quite a lot of crosstalk on my TV (sony HX803). Maybe its more noticable due to high contrast areas compared to motorstorm (white lines on the track clearly diverge). Also the effect is quite subtle, so I'm not sure how practically useful it would be in a race - which was something I was hoping for. Although rain is a lot of fun in 3D mode. In cockpit the rain really feels like a sheet in front of you, much more so than in 2D mode. Also the main menu backdrops where your current car is, are all in 3D and they are really lovely.

Head tracking is a bit meh, although I only tried it on karts. Turned movement up, but the left the 2nd option at default. Seemed to require too much movement from me to move the virtual head, then it moved it too far. Difficult to properly control the amount of turn. For those of you that use headtracking in PC sims, is it just something you get used to?

is there any way to get 3D .mpo photos out of the game? I can take them, and view them in the photo album, but not export them to the XMB.

i got it in arcade at level 7 or 8... but you do have to slam hard, and it does break the car apart, slowly but surely :)

I had a few very hard crashes with premium cars and still saw nothing. Maybe the level isn't the only factor that unlocks it?

Wait - that's using active glasses right? The cross talk is entirely up to how good the shutters are on your glasses then.
 
Ok there is something weird going on with this game. I am now driving on Tsukuba and now all the shadows look perfect. Even on the cars they are smooth.

Edit: Yep it looked perfect during the whole race. Why don't they always look this good? Is it maybe a bug?

This having to get Gold in that is such bullshit , i don't even want to do that crap again .
I still want the track , i going have to try and B spec if you could do that .
 
Well just started playing the game today (collector's edition) and I grabbed the Audi R8 and wow, was I surprised how it almost felt like a tank. The M3 was nimble as usual. Then tried my hand at the B-Spec mode and I got FT-86 G Sports Concept car, and I have so much fun driving that car, I did upgrade the suspension and a mid-range turbo.

B-5 only took me about 10 tries. The one with the Magane at Nurb GT is the one that pissed me off, got within 30-40 thousandths about 15 times over 30 mins before rage quitting going to something else and coming back to gold it in 1 try... :lol
 
Second race today with perfect shadows. I am starting to think there might be some kind of loading/streaming error with the shadows...

Ahhh, I knew I was not crazy. I think it's down to how many premium cars are on the track. Or maybe the complexity of the circuit. In any case, the graphic engine adapts to how much resources are available, that's for sure.
 
i caved and bought a Driving Force GT. I used to have a G25+Wheelstand but i sold it because i couldnt keep it anywhere except in the middle of the livingroom :D

the GT should be smaller and if i can manage without a new Wheelstand it should fit in some closet during downtime.
