I'm sure that PD knows about it, just as they know about the shadows. But Kaz has already said that they can't fix the shadows. I'm not sure about the particle issue though.

Given the particle effect situation is far more "in the face" while racing itself compared to other issues I certainly hope they can come up with some way to mitigate it.

Seriously? That's a kick in the guts. By far the most jarring thing about the game is the shadows (and particle effects). Sad face :(

I think ( could be wrong) they implemented the weather feature at the last minute.

If this is true, it looks pretty damn good to me? Especially the in-car view stuff and the wet roads.

The particles hasn't bothered me so far.

I do agree with the shadow issues though... they are distracting and never saw it until the release copy came out.

I bought a Scion XB as my first car.... what a stupid mistake that was.

Anyway to sell?

Go to your garage and then push triangle on the car you want to sell. It'll bring up a list of options including a sell option.

How do I set the degrees of steering for my steering wheel? I've got a G25, and I want to make use of the full 900 degrees. Also, anyone have recommended settings for the wheel?

Well, I thought I had B-spec figured out. Until in the Gran Turismo World Championship's last race, in which my driver became an emotional train wreck and broke down, crashing every thirty seconds and twitching for ten seconds afterwards until he remembered that forward was forward. I tried the race three times after that and he was still in the throes of his psychotic episode, then the next time....fine....first place....not a hitch....Tuner and other races in the next tier up? No problem. I guess he's fine again until his next episode.

Sometimes it seems that the AI needs to suffer a catastrophic failure for a while, and then reset to nominal. I don't know. I'll post some b-spec tips and information if there seems to be a demand for it.

wtf is going on... i always hang while loading the tuscany tarmac rally stage under the intermediate rally in special events.

it just sits on the loading screen forever.

known issue?

edit: nm, after like my 5th try it loaded, yay! :D

You know, I don't normally say this ... as I hate it being said to me: but it's fucking GT. You don't just jump in to every race with a car given to you or beat 90% of the game with cars you "won". It's about figuring out what races you want to play, and using your credits to buy that car.

I knew exactly what I'd be jumping into with this. You know when I played the first level of races I was using some crap car ... couldn't beat a thing. I bought a Volvo S60 (own an S70 and closest thing I could get :lol ) and beefed it up and started kicking ass!

Oh, and a "bunch of fucking old cars are needed" because they are beginner races. This game is about cars. It's like asking "why the fuck do I get a stupid fucking wooden shield, I'm Link motherfuckers!" ...

Honestly, after FOUR GAMES you'd think people would understand what the game is about. I apologize to the people wanting Kaz's Racertastic Awesome Supercar Fast Track #1 Race game ... it's just not going to happen.

So, if it's about figuring out what I want to do and buying that car, why can't I buy that car? I would fucking love to do the Japanese Classic but, after playing for four days, I hadn't seen a single Japanese car made before 1979 that had more than 20 hp until today. All of the cars in the race have 160hp or so. They literally made it impossible to win that race (or even to enter for the first day since there was no Japanese pre-1979 car available) until you win the used car lotto. Is that really what the game is about? Really? It certainly wasn't what any of the other games were about so fuck off with that "four games and you still don't get it?" bullshit.

I like the game and I've been playing it a lot but not because I'm so entranced by waiting for a fucking car to drop like some rare loot in WoW. It's a bone headed way to set the game up. You can't even by the car you want in the normal dealership for a much higher price or something. Jesus.

What was the best first car to buy?

I bought the Civic Type R .. Premium .. has done well for the first couple Beginner cups ..

I bought that one too, and a few pages back a bunch of others did too. Good car.

I agree that it's a weakness of the game. If you're going to put restrictions on races then have the decency to make eligible cars (that can contend) readily available.

yeah i agree with that , this became a problem because of the standard cars\not having enough premium cars to do all events .
So i hope in next GT we will have more cars in the dealership to cover that .

Yeah the restrictions on those early ones are pretty lax..my B-spec driver used my 370Z in the beginner "hot hatch" race :lol

Ehhhh, I mean technically it IS a hatch. Not in the truest sense. But the entire rear is a hatch, and not a conventional trunk lid. =)

Wow, the Lotus Evora '09 is one sexy car! I'm definitely saving up for that! Anyone know how it drives?

similar to an elise but sloooooooow (in prologue at least, havent tried it in gt5)

Pfft. I was using a beefed up 512bb Ferrari. Fools didn't know what hit 'em

I missed your post earlier, but way to miss the point.

I didn't actually mind the samba bus Top Gear challenge.

Infact, I appreciated it on a certain level, despite its frustrating level of difficulty. When you win, it's a good rush.

What I don't like is just the micromanagement and difficulty of getting into races even with shit cars.

Yeah, it's what GT has done in the past. But this is like saying low polygon tracks and low polygon cars are part of the GT experience. It obviously doesn't have to be and it obviously could stand to be done a lot better.

The GT experience should be inclusive of all gamers and of all of the automotive community. The way its designed is frustrating to gamers and it doesn't even service the automotive community as well as it could.

But the way you talk about it... it's like you want it to be an exclusive game for the handful of GT fans that 'gets it'. No. Fuck that noise.

I'd like to think I'm pretty fair towards GT. It really is the most feature rich and comprehensive racing game of any sort out there. And I'm going to play it to death; 40" screen, 5.1 surround, $1500 seat, G25... it's nearly a perfect setup for this game.

That doesn't mean I don't wish it could be better. Indeed, that's the way people that feel passionately about something should always feel; Like it. Love it. But wish for it to be better still.

it is really not any different than having to learn what weapon is best for what level? or how to beat big boss at the end...

... you have quite an bit of hand holding there - it shows you list of common cars, rules list and your garage with filtered cars (only ones that work), all on the same event screen.

fact that you have to select, buy and tune the car is part of the game experience - you need to learn more about cars, decide what is minimum you need to spend on tuning it so you can pass the race.

how is that different from most games? it is not... in fact for me, there is a lot more hand holding in GT than in RPG's for instance.

I just went through this with my driver with a simple race. He just didn't seem to do anything. He would always just stay in his starting position, even though he had a faster car. When I told him to move his pace up he would just crash or slide around the next corner.

I than notice the arrow on his profile going from a green arrow pointing right to slightly down with no a yellow/orange. Erectile dysfunction?

Anyway, I am leaving him alone for a few hours hoping he will calm or relax back down to green before I race with him again.

thats the part of experience, why should you get everything right away? you find it find that other games limit what you can get (like WoW for instance) but in racing game, you should should just get it all, get it now damn it, you bought the game!!! :-).

Well I am glad it doesnt work that way... work for it and you will get it. In RL, I am looking to get dark grey 09 WRX, but I am only finding 08 WRX in red, difference is huge... am I going to go and cry to mommy? nope.

I dont get this sense of entitlement when it comes to racing games, where everything should be done for you and you should get everything right away... even in gaming, there is always level of progression, not to mention real life.

This damn photo gallery is killing me. I just spent another 45 minutes trying to take shots of this car. I am truly becoming obsessed.

I completely agree. I love having to start at the bottom and work my way up the ladder. It makes it so rewarding.

What get? You have to buy the shit, man. I don't care if the pre-1979 Japanese car costs 200,000 credits, I would just like to know it's available. As it stands now, I have to earn the money for it then I have to wait for it to randomly appear. How is something that randomly appears something that I earned? I earned it by sitting on my ass waiting for the car gods to drop a vehicle for me? No. It's some time wasting horse shit that they dreamed up to keep you from doing the beginner races. BEGINNER RACES.

Again, I'd like to have the ability to compete in beginner races. Is it so much to ask that I be able to buy a car that can be used in a beginner race from the beginning. I don't want them to drive it for me just to be able to get into the race would be awesome.

I wish I knew what the hell this had to do with anything. mine performs the same whether it's very excited, erect, or just flaccid. I thought at first it might be the events he's performing in, but that washes out when it goes down in new races. Then I thought it might be the gains in a level, but I don't believe that's the case (of course we couldn't know without numerical gain values). My present line is that it belies his obedience.

Most probably so you move on to other races involving more powerful or varied cars and then come back to these slow old one's to break things up again. Makes sense tbh.

Except you don't have to come back to it. You just have to wait until an appropriate car pops up. There's no order to it. If I didn't check the used car dealer everyday, I might never get to do that race.

You'll eventually get a free one. Point is, there is a shit tonne else to do in the game whilst you're waiting. Hence coming back to it, since you're not actually going to be doing nothing at any point.

How often do you direct him? What is his Mental State? My driver's Mental State is always high. But Strength goes down fast during a race. This almost feels like a Sim game.

LMFAO i was gonna get gold on top gear elise challenge but before the last corner i hit a cone that was on the middle of the road and the car made a wheelie... so i hit the invisible side wall.. yeah disqualified
