Gran Turismo 5 |OT| an Ode to the Automobile

Does race car upgrade actually do anything to the performance? I'm tempted to turn my TVR into little racing beauty, but it's a lot of money for a spoiler.

B-spec is fun, a little infuriating, my guy is level 7 but still too inconsistent. loving it though. I think it's as much fun as A-spec. Surprise feature for me, I didn't think I would like it at all.

I have not done a race upgrade yet. In the older games weight would be lowered and adjustable front end aero may be added. I will not have the money to play with it for awhile because I need to finance progress in late races.
 
General rule I learned from B-spec. Never give them a car similar to the power of the opposition. Even with a car a bit faster those bastards will still lose. I'm not looking forward to specific car races on B-spec.
 
I wish you could just set tcs and asm off globally. I hate how the cars handle with that crap on. If anything it should be set to off by default, after all, this is the REAL driving simulator. /whine :-)

I know weight is lowered past what reduction normally gets you and if memory serves adds downforce to the car.

Most if the cars in GT5 have that stuff in their real life spec....

Yeah, that's kind of frustrating. You could do it in prologue, and I can't see why they wouldn't have global function. Well they've already done 2 updates, with another one coming on tuesday, maybe that wiill make it in that update. Never had so many updates so fast... Don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing, or both or something else...

Yeah that would be great. I think it will be good to have this much dev support and patches. It would be great to have a comments and suggestions outlet in the gran turismo forum or something so they could listen to their community of fans and gamers. However I would foresee troll heaven! :D

You can play the event races for money and experience

But even that only goes so far... it grinds my gears that I have to jump around in a non-linear fashion, while waiting for cars that I'll only probably get mid or late into the game unless I specifically hunt for them.

I'm pretty sure there are rewards for clearing a section completely as well.

I've reached a point in the game where I'm pretty much grinding random events I've already done. To do new events I have to either wait for the right car to appear in the used dealership so I can go back and finish the events I skipped or buy a really good car so I can try some of these really high level events.

Also I am enjoying the game, just want to be able to access new content.
 
I really hope they can make a patch to fix the very bad aliasing issues with weather effects. I also don't like how they "ghettoize" the GT PSP cars that you import by putting them into a "Portable Garage". They should just let you sync your main garage.
 
I don't try to rush with Gran Turismo games. I take my sweet ass time buying cars for specific races and tune and tweak the car settings. I really got to learn how to set the spring rate, camber, dampers, toe, and etc for FR and 4WD.

Tweaking the suspension settings for FF cars help out a lot for B-spec. They tend to understeer a lot with FF cars.
 
I don't understand why people are avoiding the standards. Do they look worse than premiums, of course. Do I use the cockpit cam, no. Yesterday I drove more with standards than with premiums.

I find that the cockpit camera is the best view in the game, for me at least - the 3rd person view is horrid, as it's not elevated enough, whereas with the bumper camera view I don't get a good enough sense of the cars width. So yeah, that's why I am primarily sticking to premium cars.
 
I've just read on the official site that the Signature Edition competition is going to be in B-spec. wut

Starts next month. I guess I'd better actually boot up the mode and start levelling.

they're a ripoff. You need to spend money doing the engine overhaul etc. before they become as good as the new ones. I have bought a few that don't have equivalent new cars though...

Also +1 to cockpit view love. Best view in the game, I wish every car had it.
 
You guys are missing out on some awesome fun by skipping the standard cars.. The view is exactly the same as cockpit just without a car in the way lol.. You'll get used to it if you actually use it and will probably get better times too.
