There are 4 cone events, two involve driving on the outside, between the cones and the wall. :lol

Seriously. I fucking hate the Lotus challenge - I can't get a Gold for shit (but managed a Silver). I got a gold in the first one by being EXTREMELY aggressive but trying to take the same approach with the Lotus leads to spinning out every other second. Fucking tires.

Increase TC a little. It was invented for a reason. You can be in 1st place by the hammerhead on the second lap.
 
The Vitz/Yaris challenge sucks so much: I wasted 80K on this shit so my AI driver could win, which he did. But I don't like the Yaris. I have a blind hate for it after the XBLA game promotion. :|
 
Uggh, damn Mach 1 and it's 4 speed gearbox. I spent over 100k credits on it and upgrades only to find out that it's basically useless without a 5 speed.

I'll have to try that as it's a much better option than pumping more credits into the car. It's initial set up has it eating through each gear so quickly that it tops out at a little over 100mph.
 
Where do I turn head tracking on? I know it's just in Arcade mode at the moment, but I can't find the control for it anywhere.

Also, can I customize the button layout of my G25?

I'm not denying it, I played in the arcades back in the day I know the difference it can make to have a wheel vs a controller :/
I don't have the game yet anyway, heck the game is about perfection after all so I'd rather get everything set before getting it.

I was wondering this too. I did notice you can save it to your Game Save folder, but you can't play it from there. I haven't tried to transfer it to my PC. I don't even know what kind of file it is. But I take it not a video format.
 
One glitch I have experienced with my G27, is not being able to reverse using triangle... The only way I can get to reverse is to shift into 1st, then use the left paddle shifter once (downshift), and then I can use triangle to reverse... kind of strange.
 
Couple of questions. I haven't been following this thread very closely, so I apologize if these have been covered...

Are opponents' headlights not on in your rear-view mirror? I've only done one night race, the Yaris challenge, and I couldn't keep those fuckers from whipping around me, cause I couldn't see them in my rear-view.

Can you not 'downshift' into reverse (DS3)? This would be the first GT game I've played where you're forced to push a button to reverse.

OK, one more. Looking for something like a Wheel Stand Pro, but a lot cheaper. Sub-$80 would be nice. Any suggestions?

That reminds me... where the heck is video recording / youtube uploading? It was on that feature list and is basically the only thing missing...


oh and just to be sure, GT TV isn't working for anyone, right? Can't even click the opening movie :lol
 
LOL Yaris B-Spec gives you a Prius Premium free. Yaris A-Spec gives you a Prius STANDARD (Japan Touring car?) for free. WTF, PD. :|
 
:/ I was just doing an online race, I was in second and a Japanese guy was in first. All of the sudden the Japanese guy leaves the server... "weird" I thought... couple of seconds later I see a guy going the wrong way on the huge straight in Sarthe, I manage to dodge him, then a few seconds after that the entire server starts leaving. Every single one of them left.


Fucking idiot... I thought people going the wrong way were supposed to be invisible/untouchable.
 
Guys just a warning to all of you as the servers seem to be going up and down constantly:

Be patient.

I waited 5 minutes at a loading screen because the servers went down. Don't reset your PS3 and risk losing your save file.

Host has ability to kick. But I don't think everyone knows this. Suffice it to say, I'm not sure if it's possible to kick in the middle of a race. I could use a GAF test rat for that, though?

My GT5 isn't delivered yet, but in Prologue to activate reverse you need to press triangle, must be the same.

From neutral, push the stick down and shift to where 6th would be.
 
So I played this game with a DS3 yesterday (aids on) and was pleasantly surprised as to how well it plays with the controller. I don't like playing sims with a controller but using a DS3 and some aids this game transforms into a semi-arcade and is actually a blast to play. It's like I got 2 games in one here.

Also, it seems like damage in arcade is unlocked from the start ... and it's quite decent too (visually, didn't really see any effect on my driving). The rear bumper of my db9 was just about to fall off.

And one more thing ... where the fuck are my timetrial leader-boards PD?! It was one of my favorite features from GT5P.

When I installed my copy yesterday it only took a good 25 minutes and it was done.
Perhaps it has to do with how fragmented your HDD is as well.
My systems is practically brand new since I switched my old 80GIG one for a 320GIG Slim about a month ago. :)

My PS3 is a PAL launch model. I did swap the HDD fro a 320GB one when I got it, don't know if that would affect the install time.

leaderboards are coming, i'm guessing they are trying to solve the server congestion first, can't imagine the traffic if that was in now, my friend couldn't even get pass the main menu, had to sign out of the PSN

The bronze time is 13.4 and the best I can do is 13.5

I use a standard controller, not a wheel, and it seems like it requires perfect execution just for bronze, but maybe I'm doing something wrong...

check if traction control is turned on - it defaults to 5. then turn it off. since all these nascar events are turns, the TC cuts down your speed considerably.
 
anyone here gold all the AMG driving school events?

i can't for the life of me gold any of them, and i've had no problem golding anything else so far.

what assists are people using? i've got everything off and abs @ 1 -- DS3. i'm typically anywhere from .010 to a full second off any of the gold times in the beginner/intermediate events.

Guess I lose on both counts as I play with assists off with a DS3 :D

You're thinking of ASM. TCS has zero impact on high speed oval racing like this. ASM is forced on the Expert NASCAR tests, but I'm not sure about the earlier one. These tests are very difficult on a controller and require extremely precise movement of the analog stick.

all I know is a turned the dial of TC from 5 to 0 (once I realized the game was forcing it on for each challenge) and I went from slower than bronze to gold on the first intermediate nascar challenge.

playing with a wheel. It was smooth driving before and after I made the change.

ASM was already off.
