I cant believe the amount of stuff to do this game has.

And i cant even gold B-1 !! :lol
The braking tests can take ages if you don't look them up online. Not that I would ever do a thing like that... :D

I have that menu song with piano and the kids (Baby Breakbot Remix) bumping in my office at work. Sooooo good. :D

And I finally hit level 24 last night. Oh god is it going to be a grind to get to 30. =(

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not too bothered to be honest but sometimes when I see the difference between my (say) bronze time and what it'd take for a gold I really do think "only a robot could do that!"

I'm sticking to it. Warhawk's hold over me has finally been broken (although I'll see what happens when I buy Dead Nation).

Cheers.

I love sims and have played them for a long while. And I struggled with the tests at first. I was rusty as anyting, BTW they don't go up in difficulty. Some of the later ones are easier. You will learn to stop driving slowly and cleanly and drive at the edge of your seats. It's so very satifying when you meet the challange head on, and it's you driving skill rather potency of the car that wins you something. :)

Knowledge is awesome. IGNorance is stupid. :)

I would like that song if it didn't repeat on a loop in online lobbies.

What cars are you guys using for the German cars only events? I just foolishly assumed my R32 was a VW but apparently not.

This could possibly be a stupid question, but how do you gift cars in this game. Seriously I go to the garage and select give to friend, but then nothing happens and I just get that damn clock spinning forever.

Just picked this up over the weekend. Good stuff so far, but I don't like the loading times. Level... 11 so far?

I found myself upgrading a concept Acura hybrid car that I won in some race or another. I'm not sure why - I think the car is ugly and I don't have any inclinations towards hybrids. :lol

But now the thing produces damn near 500 horsepower and I'm putting it in supercar races against McLarens and Ferraris. :lol I'm having a lot of trouble controlling it now that it has this much power. Is there a way to get downforce without putting in a racing mod?

Quick question: is there a Drift Mode or drift challenges in GT5? Is it available from the start or do you have to unlock it?
There is a drift mode in arcade. Haven't come across any in GT Life though but I'm only level 17.

I've seen drift in the practice section. No idea if there are any actual challenges other than scoring a certain amount of points for an ego trophy.

RAAAAAGEEEEE!!!

I bought a Cuda '71 and tuned it (spent more than 100k in total) only to find out that even with upgraded transmission it can't go beyond 180kph (stock is 200kph, but with slower acceleration). I am being destroyed in the Muscle Car Classics. Not even going to mention the Super Car Nostalgia race. Can anyone send me a Muscle car that I can use to win this event. I'll return it (is that possible?) or make a compensation. Please, GAF? :(

I'm pretty sure I beat that with the '62 Buick Special you get as a prize.

I just saw a GT5 commerial on TV for the first time. Pretty weird it wasn't localized though, they did the voice overs in finnish for the Sly Collection. Oh well

Just noticed this game has some bugs as far as texture loading goes.

I was doing some laps on the Top Gear test track and noticed this ugly building:

It stayed like that for a LONG time so I kinda thought they had just left that building like that, but then after moving around in Photo Mode a bit it finally loaded up.

Doesn't seem like it's a texture streaming problem to save resources, cause I could have done an entire race without that building loading, but after messing around in Photo Mode in a specific location it loads and stays like that for the entire race. Looks like a nasty bug that should go fixed.

What does everyone do with the Brake Balance Controller?

Do you leave it as default or tweak it the same for each car? Different depending if it's FF, FR, etc?

Quick question, was GT5 originally meant to be a PS3 launch title? I seem to remember reading that somewhere but can't be too sure.

No way. Not even if all the planets and stars aligned on a full moon.

I tweak it to each car depending on how I want to drive it.

Thank you for the title! It is now bumping here at my work :lol

They tried to do the premium buy the car you want model with GT:HD at the beginning which used some GT4 assets in HD I believe but quickly backtracked and started from scratch, new engine, new assets and all that. So there is absolutely no way for it to have been a launch PS3 title.

Whats a good B-Spec driver model to start with? My first guy had the temperament slider all the way to "cool", but even now as a level 13 driver, he vehemently refuses to pass people anyplace but a straight.

What are other people using?

:lol

More like they kept that same GT HD concept and simply rebranded the game as GT5.

I think the game was a developmental hell aka Duke Nukem Forever :P

I love the game - it's easily the best racing game I've played, but it's so many issues that shouldn't even be here given how long they've spent on developing the game.

MP4-12C or LFA???

god I love them both but the LFA is edging it with its amazing rev counter and sound, with I could afford both:lol

Well the goal was different from the premium/standard concept but yeah in a way now, it's kinda back to the way it was. I remember the term "iTunes-like" being thrown around around the TGS they made the GT:HD reveal, had a lot of backlash against it :P

One thing I really dislike is the whole "6 years meme" because tourist trophy & gtpsp didn't happen or something :P

So ... Ive grabbed a DfGT for cheap. Haven't opened it yet, since I'm thinking about buying a G27 and selling the DFGT.

Is it really worth it ? The clutch and 6 gears really seem awesome to play with. But it looks like the DFGT is handled better by the game since it's the official wheel ...

Any advice or impressions ?

Found it cheap where? Wanna sell it for even cheaper? :D
I'm pretty broke and just bought a 360 racing wheel (oops!)

Beckenbauer is halfway between center and red (75% I call it). He tends to work best when I keep him at 75% and he is very aggressive up front, passes a lot on lap 1-2, then his strength goes down and i need to manage him to keep him from making mistakes on the end of a race when he is in first.

Whats the deal with sharing your B-spec guy? Isn't he supposed to race your friends B-spec drivers? Do they have to challenge him or does this happen automatically? Do you also have to share a car for him to drive?

I've also noticed some pop-in that happens consistently on user-made courses. On my own user made course, on the last turn, the same tree always pops-in right as you get closer to it.

Also noticed pop-in on rally special stages too.

If you're talking about the one on extreme, for some reason they let you use a lexus IS F concept '08. I bought one, turbocharged it, and won the series easily.

I finally beat completed the gran turismo all stars series :D Had to use my Toyota minolta race car.
Next up, I need to do the last race in the Nascar series on extreme but I can't seem to make it all ten laps without someone bumping my rear and sending me flying off the track. x_x

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but the down time between sections of a rally race is ridiculous: not only does the game have to spend 30 seconds reloading the EXACT SAME ENVIRONMENT (with different time of day), you also have 35 seconds of watching the cars in front of you start every single stage. Can we not assume I know how a rally start works and just have a 5 second countdown?
