sorry bro but thats just stupid... i dont even race in cockpit mode, i just show it to my friends... so why would i lose those 800 cars, with proper physics model?

And the whole point of GT was always that it had many cars so you could drive your own car or car that you covet - and i am not talking about 60k+ cars... but cars like GTI, which are European best sellers that people actually...purchase (even GTI is not exactly cheap, and is probably 2x more expensive than average car sold here). This is why you have 10 versions of STi - people want to test and see minute differences.

Yes any idea with cutting cars from a GT game is not a good one imo.

Spectator Mode:
If you’re not quite up to racing on one particular day, or if you just want to watch how someone really good drives, the "Spectator" mode is very useful. You can watch other users driving LIVE, as if you were watching their replay. This is another way to enjoy Gran Turismo, that’s a bit different than before.

I'm glad they included this. :p

You'll be able to have 32 player lobbies for stuff like that. Hopefully we'll find out that there's more to it than just watching (like swapping drivers for a 24h race).

Wow, that is quite a disappointment.... I was ready to accept the standard models not having interiors, but this? upscaled GT4 models? WTF... do the standard models only have standard driving physics too?

I'll still buy the game though, but the fact that theres a chance I won't be able to see some of my favorite cars from GT4 be modeled in glorious HD is a real bummer...

You know who's to blame?

All those "$%#$&"#$ whining about damage when they were never gonna buy the game to begin with...

Pretty sure we would at least get double of the premium cars we have now...

Could the system push more cars on screen if the entire field is made up of standard models? I'd actually enjoy that. :lol

No all cars have updates physics and as for the damage

--------------------------------------------------Premium cars-----Standard cars
Physics-Affecting Damage: ----------------------------●-----------------●
Dirt, Scratches, and Dents: ----------------------------●-----------------●
Separation (dislocation) of Body Panels:--------------●

Not going to lie, I'm disappointed, but some perspective would be nice. I think it's okay to have a rant, but some of you are really overreacting. I mean what would you rather have? 1000 cars split into two demographics as it is now, or 'just' 200 or so of these premium cars modelled to an incredible level of detail (surpassing any other game on the market I might add). Having the option is sort of undermining, but as a gamer I'd rather have that option than not - so suck it up.

...and I have to agree watching the video that the 'standard' cars looked acceptable. Perhaps not as good as Eurogamer billed them (I think Forza quality is unfair :D) but definitely glossy.

Check out the car on the right. First hint of a livery editor?

The standard cars look good to me, but I do hope that they have dlc car packs and they are premium cars. Also hope they focus on getting all cars to the same level with at least generic cockpits for gt6. I would gladly sacrifice the crazy amounts of detail the premium cars have for undercarriage/interior if it means that all cars are same level and we have tons of cars.

Hard to tell without knowing what car it is. Could just be the default paint job.

Some people just don't get that the huge number of cars is one of the defining aspects of GT.

If you don't want to drive them, fine, but don't ask them to take it off because i want to drive those old cars with awesome new physiscs, online and stuff.

It's a bit of a bummer, but still, it's nice to have them and not just stick with only 200 of them.

Also, DLC will really help this game.

I'm more worried with the track count than with all this fight about car models.

1000+ is everything i've dreamed.

Because premium cars are not just about cockpit ?

They have better detail, better texturing, better damage (parts falling off). So yes I would take %100 increase in the number of premium cars over having it split 80/20 in favor of the less detailed models, but hey opinion and all feel free to disagree.

The T10 guys must be laughing their asses off right about now. They get PD to play their game knowing there's no way Kaz and crew would swallow their pride and either come to their senses that damage is pointless, or that they need to outsource some of their work if they want to include pointless interior details. Fucking hell almighty.

im completely devastated by the cockpits crap.. i really wanted to play with alot of older cars and not so popular ones. it felt so much personal to drive the cars in prologue now its back to gt4 -.- FUCK

I think GT is going to have a problem in the future no way are certain car companies going to allow there cars to get smash up at that level of detail.
So while models will end up looking the same they will always have cars that will be premium just because of damage.

You could probably fit all 800 cars in one race :lol
In all honesty though, as beautiful as the premiums are, if there was an option to dial back premium models for say... a full 43-car field in NASCAR?

I just wonder how less taxing they are on the system considering they still have the new physics implemented.

I think 1000 cars is ridiculous, cut it to 300-400 with premium level quality and release the game and you have a winner.

You're crazy :lol I don't care if the headlights aren't properly modeled and the text in the ads isn't clear on a le mans car I've never heard of that raced for 2 years in the 1990's. But it's fun to have a big library of le mans cars to try and race against. In your GT5 there would just be the Peugeot and Audi Le Mans lmp1... and that's about it? That's "ridiculous". I would much rather have a deep library of cars to see the evolution of the sport and actually have interesting, varied single player races(unlike some other game).

Yea...I'm willing to guess that the 200+ premium cars are going to be the ones I wan't to drive in the first place, so I'm gonna file this under "not a problem."

I play GT to try cars that I would probably never drive not to try a virtual cammry or skyline.

Anyway the standard cars like I said don't look too bad but I'm probably gonna setup my camp in the premium village and staying there for a while.

couldnt they of made generic interiors in cockpit form? eh damnit................
like a honda interior for every honda stuff like that.........
im still getting the collectors edition off amazon when it becomes available:D

They are bound to have had some sort of process where the aim was to get the more popular cars be premium standard.

I think a three class system would have been better in my opinion.

1. Super deluxe premium that PD handle themselves
2. Outsourced team that gets ps3 quailty models in. (yeah I know they don't outsource)
3. Upped resolution ps2 quality cars

Ps. I realize even this would have been seen as a problem by people I think.

The standard model looks good to me, can't see much difference in motion with premium... so no I'm not really disapointed.
I don't think we can say PD is lazy... For now, the 1000 cars number is just a bullet point but when we browse through the garage we'll actually start to realize how HUGE the roster is and how much work has gone into modelling those cars.

The car thing? Whatever.

But this?

http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_gran_turismo_5_e3_hq_rally-15946_en.html

See, yes the lightning looks nice but is that the whole point of a driving simulator? How come the car looks like it controls like a cardboard box, but more importantly, how come this late in the PS3 cicle, and half a decade since GT4, this game is still working on some of those pinball physics when it comes to contact made with the environment?

The car bouncing of the net is just embarrassing.

These are standard cars?

:D

Guess Eurogamer weren't joking then - these look GREAT!

Of course they don't look super hi res but I'll take these over nothing.

It's a shame they didn't remodel the race cars are premium though. I expected all race cars to be remodelled to be frank. I hope every race car in GT6 is up to scratch. Couldn't care less about the rest of the cars.

That's a whole other argument. Reworking the car list to a "premium" only version that would resemble something like an expanded pgr selection would change the structure of the whole game. Considering how many different classes of cars GT5 now features, it would be spreading it really thin. Making some 20-40 hour single player mode on half the cars would also be crap. Just look back at that other game that must not be mentioned, much more focused types of cars and still huge gaping holes in the library and still stuff like blacked out interiors.

And secondly, I wouldn't be throwing around ideas like "double the premium cars instead of the 800 standard cars". We don't know how the Polyphony team works, there's no reason to assume that those numbers are somehow accurate. What if it took them 3 years to model the 200 premium cars and 6 months for the standard? Hypothetically trading a number of one sort for another makes no sense without knowing how many work hours go into making these things.

If there is an upside to this news I would say that any cars they are designing now or into the future are all going to be premium models. So who knows if he has been saying 200 premium cars for close to a year now, there could be 250-300 when it releases. I'm very optimistic I know.

I'll agree with you on the second part and we'll leave at that :)
