Most of that 80 percent will be cars from 2005 and earlier. Seriously, how many cars do people expect to play with and further, how many cars before 05? Under a dozen? Those LM race cars, the 05 subaru WRX STI (unless they have the 06 premium'd :lol) and some personal favourites aside, I will be using mostly newer cars. This isn't the end of the world. Also, next time, we shouldn't expect perfection from PD, or any company. Its not fair to either of us.
I have a lot of personal favourites that are pre 2005. Many of those favourites were in HD or prologue though.

I would really like if some of the lapsed popular GT cars were given the standard car treatment. I would always like to drive a Dodge Copperhead, Elise GT1, or the road versions of le mans prototypes

So 80% of the cars will look like they're from other racer games this generation and 20% will melt our faces. This is an outrage!

In the first instance, I was like, that's kind of clever, what you said, but then I was like, hey, you be trolling, I think. :D

80% of the cars will look better than other games and will be played with night and day and amazing cirquits.
and 20% will make u think u just bought a ps4

This thread makes my head hurt so much. All the vocal complainers propably aren't even interested in the game. Might aswell stop reading until we get some new info from gamescom.

I really wonder what PD's DLC will look like when it comes to premium cars.

Well...you'll find that many of the posters in jett's thread never really posted in GT5 threads before. That should tell you all you really need to know.

Are body kits/mods available for 'Standard' cars?

This would help redeem PD somewhat seeing as GT4 cars had nothing except for wheels and wings.

Dynamic time of day and weather on all tracks and all will be forgiven

They haven't been confirmed for premium cars yet. But if they are then they wouldn't be available for standard cars. Standard cars are based on GT4's models (albeit updated), so they're made out of a single "sheet". Premium models are designed in parts (doors, hood, mirror ect), so they can be taken off and replaced.

Well, they gave you the first part of that spoiler tagged bit. Here's to hoping Yamauchi tries to get weather in by the time Gamescon comes around.

It's probably already in. He was asked about it on Twitter and simply said 'maybe'. At this point a feature like that wouldn't really fall into a maybe category. They've been trying to optimize the weather system for around a year now. So it looks like they might've figured out how to do it.

Yeah and they've been working on weather for awhile too.

Heh, Gamescon is going to be great if only for this. Day/night progression and weather are going to be an amazing combination.

I don't know why everyone is bitching.

If the standard cars look like the cars in GTHD, they will still look better than F3 cars.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Forza 3's models are just incremental upgrades from Forza 2, which were incremental upgrades from Forza 1. Right?

They'll probably have more than that to show there. They released a feature list last year at gamescom (but took it down quickly) and at E3 they showed everything that was on that original feature list. Now they're promising some big blowout at gamescom this year. Although i'm not really sure what else they'd need to add if they do weather. Day/night cycle and weather were really the two main features that many fans wanted (damage being another, but that's long been confirmed).

Stupid question, but how do we know by the time TGS/Gamescom rolls around they won't have more "Premium" cars available in the final game?

Maybe they'll add a few more tracks. I remember reading that he responded with (and I paraphrase) "We haven't decided on the final number of tracks yet". But you're right, short of them making every car in the game up to premium standards it's going to be hard to top what was shown this week.

Yeah, but all tracks?

Body mods all but confirmed. From the first official fact sheet:

MORE CARS, MORE TRACKS, MORE MODES
· More than 1000 licensed cars, including those representing racing organizations from around the globe such as NASCAR, World Rally Championship, Super GT and more.
· More than 20 tracks with more than 70 variations featuring famous world circuits and real-world city locales.
· Arcade mode lets players take in the stunning tracks and environments of
Gran Turismo 5 alone or with a friend in split-screen two-player mode.
· The fan-favorite career mode returns with a full world map, licensed car dealerships, tuning and body shops, and car washes. Start your car collection, customize them to your liking, and live the life of a pro racer.
· Compete in franchise mainstays like point-based Championship Race series and hone your skills with License Tests.
· Gran Turismo TV Video gives players access to an online clearinghouse of great motorsport video programming (both HD and SD – all broadcast quality) through PLAYSTATION Network. Users can now export this content to the GT PSP Museum (GT PSP required).

You're probably right about the GT4 models having not been designed to handle body mods though.

Was just hoping seeing as they've spent f-all time modelling or updating the sounds for 80% of the cars in the game that perhaps they would find the time to modifying the GT4 models to incorporate body mods.

Fingers crossed for dynamic weather on all tracks.

What about DLC for this game? There will be some exclusive cars/tracks coming after the release of the game? What Yamauchi said about? What the translator-man wrote?

I just want to see weather. Maybe some info on the tuning and wind tunnel. I can only imagine how awesome the rain will look with the awesome dynamic 24 hour lighting model.
A night race in the rain would be treacherous.

Someone earlier in this thread commented at least we have dirt and snow.

Will Toscana have a snow/winter version ? Is that how the rally maps usually work ? There has got to be at least one other unrevealed rally course. Maybe that will have snow or gravel ?

Also I was thinking, if all the maps can be raced at night, that effectively expands the available tracks. Not really, but you have to race differently.

There will be. They're constantly working on building new cars as Kaz has stated in the past. It just takes them a while because they need to be hyper detailed (500k polys each).

MGR said:

Well, I didn't see them mention that Day/Night is only for certain tracks. So I'm assuming all of them have it, especially after reading that you can make it so the game matches the system's time.

DLC is there. Kaz-san said that about a particular Honda car that he can't add it to final game on time but will add it later down the line (as DLC).

I think so too. All of the city maps will look sooo good.

What's the night map we've seen in trailers already ? Tokyo ?

Then why, 5 months out from the game releasing, is everyone having a meltdown? It's pathetic.

i was under the impression POLYPHONY DIGITAL deleted the legacy code of GT4, but I guess they still had the models and now they are doing a cheap transfer..........sigh

Tried making a summary, feel free to add to/edit it, i'm sure i stuffed something up.

- WRC, NASCAR (Nascar rules will be in full effect), F1

What? Has this been confirmed? More F1 cars than just the Ferrari from Prologue?

bobbytkc said:
yea, but 200 cars is a big number as well.

I think a lot of things depend on what those 200 or so cars include.

You probably did get it, but just so you know, I was just being ironic against people who think 80% of the cars mean 80% of the game.

Yamauchi-san also mentioned:

-- Users will be able to race a full 24 Hours of Le Mans or Nurburgring.

-- Full NASCAR races available

-- There will be an available virtual driving school for GT beginners

-- In addition to Ferrari, more Formula 1 teams are expected

-- GT5 will be produced in 12 languages

But today in the interview he said that "I don't think Bernie Echolstone won't allow F1".

I really hope there are more F1 cars in the game, though! Hell, Polyphony can just contact Sony Liverpool and get older car models from them, thus saving time and money on recreating them!

I am still getting the collectors edition when it becomes available on amazon but I am dissapointed to an extent, but at the same time PD hasnt revealed their cards yet..........they only showed us what they wanted to show us.

That's the complete and current F1 licence though.

Sorry if i'm beating a dead horse, but some things aren't adding up. I'm not a petrol head, but are these the same car/body type?

Top one is a screen cap from the standard cars trailer.

Even if it isn't it seems a bit strange they have models similar that they didn't alter for similar models? Making similar models wouldn't be that difficult if they were leaving out interiors.

!

That just means stuff like F1 drivers and such. But Polyphony can go directly to the manufacturers and license the cars that way. Which is why Ferrari and Red Bull are in GT5 now. The F1 license is just weird. For example, Codemasters isn't allowed to use F1 cars for any previous year. They have to use the 2010 models and that's it.

Someone told me earlier they thought that 69 Corvette was a premium car. I don't know.

The models do look different. I can't see any side mounted exhaust pipes on the aztec gold one. Also that looks like a small block hood. If they are putting a 69 vette in the game, why not go with the 427 ? Too much power for the dated brakes and chassis ? I guess PD though the 350 is a better match for its purpose and class in the game ? Maybe a 427 is an upgrade. That'd be cool.

If it were up to me, first priority would be getting a premium model on all of the sports cars. Anything with 4 doors can wait. :D
