I like the DLC cars. No super ultra mega collectors edition for me in the states. That is a shame, I could really use a SLS AMG.

I am so ready to learn everything about this game and have so many details set in stone!

Well, you're in luck!

Pre-order Gran Turismo 5, the standard edition, and get $10 off a future video game purchase as well as an in-game Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Stealth Model car.

Car is indeed gorgeous but you never fail to see that face as you always associate someone with a car if it's too "in your face" all the time, e.g. Iron Man being associated with R8. Atleast for me.

You could probably associate most of the cars in GT5 with Leno as he likely owns most of them. :P Even Clarkson calls Leno the biggest gear head around.

This video shows exactly what's wrong with GT5's current chase camera...

Having it rigidly affixed to the car makes it essentially unusable. Polyphony needs to get its act together and go back to how it was in GT1-GT3, or at the very least, provide an option on the settings menu to decide for ourselves.

Absolutely. The pivoting effect makes the camera move to the opposite direction of were the care is turning. It's crazy.

To me that video shows exactly what's wrong with GT5's damage. The flapping doors look ridiculous. I hope to god I can just turn it off entirely for all races.
You're right, it does look ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that I've been watching WRC for 20 years and I've never once seen doors flapping about like that.

Hopefully it gets toned down, quite a lot.

I will go with the CE, in the Signature Edition you get additionally to the CE stuff:

# Metal sculpted box (instead of slip case)
# GT branded SLS AMG 1:43 model car
# GT leather wallet
# competition entry card to get a chance to win that real SLS AMG car
# Branded USB key
# GT branded metal key fob
# coffee table artbook (instead of five artcards)
# all 6 stealth vehicles (instead of 1 which is also preorder only)

That's not really content worth 100€ extra IMO (yeah I know it's for fans/collectors etc.)

(and they should have included the OST)

don't wanna open a can of worms but i remember there was some contention about some of the cars not having cockpit view. Has there been some clarity on this or is this still the case? thanks

Do you know if some of the contents is gonna be "localized"? I don't really know where to buy/pre-order it in Italy, and I would really like to order it online.

I've seen it on Amazon.fr (at a good price! 69€!), but I'm worried it would be in french; instead english is fine and not a problem.

All Sony games have at least English.

Got announced at E3, its all the same stuff
Uh... no ?

US only has a Collector's Edition so far, which is $99 and includes basically Europe's Collector's Edition, but with a keychain and a 1:43 scale model of a Nissan GTR.

Is there any word on a US signature edition? If not, the EU SE is compatible with a US PS3, right?

Is that a good idea? €179.99 is $237, and £150 is $238. The Dollar is so weak :lol

It's a lot better than europe's collectors edition really, you get the keychain and model while the european version has neither and only gets 5 artcards, easy mistake to make with all these different editions flying around...

The US version is like a happy compromise between our cheapo "CE" and ultra expensive Signature Edition. Not gonna import though, as much as I want it.

I'm tempted by the import... though I'd be gutted if the parcel didn't make it over for some reason.

SCEA>SCEE.

There, I said it.

I thought people had been saying it for awhile

Also if you import I hope people realise they won't be able to use the DLC cars on their european accounts and would have to use them on an american account (vice versa for americans wanting to import the Signature edition)

Will DLC be based on the disc or logged in account? My standard PSN account is a US one but I had been expecting to buy the UK version

I want to import it but I'm worried about region locking. I would've liked a keyring with the EU CE at the minimum :P Heck, a wallet would have been lovely too.

am im the only one who is going to buy the regular "standard" edition?
its a game for fucks sake...
170€!!! bah!

Halo plastic helmet

Modern Warfare night vision goggles

God of War 3 polystyrene Pandora's Box

Whatever looks enticing to the consumer and has a reasonable profit margin is a go, I guess.

It's not like you're missing out by buying the vanilla version. I'm buying the CE just to treat myself for staying up very late all those nights arguing about GT5 on gaf.

I think I should shoot for the US CE. Put the car on a shelf or something, put the book in the outside deck table, and the keychain looks good (need a change anyway).

I am going to put the GT-R next to my Ken Block/co-driver signed Monster Energy can. Yes, I know he sucks in WRC.

Spectator mode looks very very cool.

oookay so have they said anything about different wheels support ?

Support for Fanatec was a very lacking in GT Academy and if this doesn't change for release i'll be so pissed i will only buy the regular edition :P

(not that i was going for the signature, but the limited looked sweet too)

They really don't talk about different types of wheel support. But their company of choice is of course Logitech.

Here are some new impressions

Gran Turismo 5 is gorgeous. Unbelievably so. Chances are, you already know. We’re just here to remind you. When we saw the Toscana rally track in motion, we were stunned. Startled in fact. The game’s silky smooth, running at an unwavering 60 frames per second. We watched on as day turned to night, and the blue sky was replaced by twinkling stars. It’s still Gran Turismo; it’s just prettier than ever before.

Whoops. The demo was locked to just two minutes, so we opted to take a casual drive through the scenic Italian capital. The route’s been beautiful rendered, as has GT’s sense of speed. We were surprised at how fast the scenery whizzed past us as we hit the straighter portions of the track. It seems like a strange thing to praise in a racing game full of fast cars, but it’s bizarre how Polyphony’s been unable to nail this in the past.

3D aside though, we came away from Gran Turismo 5 with a slender feeling of fulfillment. Gran Turismo is still good. The fifth iteration in the franchise is unlikely to be unfamiliar to anyone who has played a GT game before, it just looks better than ever. And when you have a mega franchise like GT, sometimes it’s best to iterate rather than innovate. One thing’s for certain — Gran Turismo 5’s going to be the prettiest game that launches this fall.

Didn't fanatec release an updated version of their wheel, with the ability to upgrade your current wheel to the same specs? I can remember ISR doing an interview with the fanatec ceo discussing all the new feature, including better (full?) support for GT5.

I prefer the american version, you get the book, the keychain looks nice (the forza 3 one is very heavy so I expect the same quality from the gt one) and you get a sweet R35 car which to me looks nicer then the EU version, plus it's not 150 fucking sterling :lol
