Gran Turismo 7 Review Thread

I see the bias. Clearly looking at the scores and his writing compared to what other reviewers say, show he nitpicks and then ignores his own criticism when it comes to other games.

Developers work hard and sometimes their careers are effected by MC scores.

He's a fuckin nobody. People just need to forget him.

Slightly off topic, but is the GT7 digital pre-ordering the same as HFW, in that I can buy the PS4 £59.99 and get a free PS5 upgrade? The store listing would suggest so, but I didn't think they were doing that for GT7?

I was actually expecting lower, someting in the 80-85. Not because i dont think the game deserves more, but the videogames media pretty much has been trashing GT games for years and praise more fast food racers that has a more mainstream appeal.

Good to see Kaz work being rewarded with good reviews. Cant wait to start playing it.
Fast food racers? Which racing games fit this criteria? What does that mean. Rehashing old content serve as new, have the same tracks for years and just update the graphics? After the corridor racer now we have fast food racer.

I suppose AC and iRacing are the fine dine racers.

No, Elden Ring is one purchase and you get both versions of the game.

You get both copies for £49.99

I think someone has just tagged GT7 wrong at Sony, but it is listed as if it gives you both versions (not just PS4 as back compat)

Interestingly like GT7 it says...

[If you already own the PS4™ version of this game, you can get the PS5™ digital version at no extra cost and you do not need to purchase this product. Owners of a PS4™ disc copy must insert it into the PS5™ every time they want to download or play the PS5™ digital version. PS4™ game disc owners who buy the PS5™ Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to get the PS5™ version at no extra cost.]
which seems like generic text attached to all games tagged as both.

Well yes seemingly so for GT7, but they have accidentally tagged the PS4 version to show PS5 tag as well. They could fall foul of Trade Descriptions Act here in the UK by doing that :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Stevivors got blacklisted

Eesh I genuinely feel sorry for any reviewer that doesn't rate a Sony game high, they get the crazy fan boy mob after them (& try and cancel them too)

Also I don't think stevivor was blacklisted due to his Horizon review, as he never received a code for that game either.

Maybe Sony just don't see his channel/website as a big enough outlet to hand codes out too (I'm just taking a guess here)

As his website has given very favourable reviews to quite a lot of Sony titles over the years.

Plus I don't think we should encourage publishers to cut off reviewers for a negative review. (Not everyone enjoys the same games)
& It would only encourage dishonest higher scores to avoid being blacklisted.

Stevivor gave sea of thieves a 4/10 and I have a good couple hundred hours on that title. (It's just not for everyone & that is okay)

damnnn Playstation wins again, too bad its always online, and im full of backlogs
Yeah. I’ll just grab a used copy in 6 to a year. I can’t in good conscience support them for that.
Always online to play single player mode is very annoying not gonna lie...
Do you have a copy? What’s it like? Restrictive or not as bad as early reports suggested?

Glad you understand that some people do not like SoT at all.
And i am also capable of understanding why someone (like you) would enjoy it. Opinions :messenger_sunglasses:

Well, game is reviewing nicely as expected, a tad below my prediction of 92 but not by much.

I don't know if I like what I'm hearing about needing to be invited by buy certain cars and only having a limited time to act on the invitation. Sounds a little to real lol.

Didn't we all follow the 97 for Elden Ring only for us to come out of it like 'what the fuck were reviewers reviewing?' kind of thing?

Get fucked. (Him not you obviously)
The thing is I don't think it's calling out that bugs and glitches that people had a problem with. It was the things that were clearly overlooked. The animations, particularly the facial ones. The more meaningful side quests. The combat emphasizes more strategy in defeating "machines". Greater weapon variants, things like that. Clear improvements even Stevie Wonder could see. That was the problem.

wow at how horrible the VGC review is regarding how out of touch they are with the audience of this game. Either put someone on the review who likes cars, or make it 100% clear your review is for people who hate reading, hate learning things, and have no interest in cars.

"It genuinely made us want to stop playing the story mode, living in fear of having to head back to the cafe and get another lecture. It all causes this feeling of someone making you watch their favourite film, staring at you throughout, making sure you understand why they’re so into it.

Just wow.

What the hell is going on with some of these reviews? What the hell is going on with Metacritic?

I'm not saying there's some ulterior motive at play, but the range of reasonings I'm seeing for some of the lower reviews are extremely generic and could be applicable to any number of other games. The one that rated Forbidden West low for having the "same old Save The World story", for example; how is that now suddenly a problem with Forbidden West but wasn't a criticism worth enough to dock the thousands of other games before it with the same thing? Or better to ask, how does the reviewer who takes that specific thing as a reason to rate a game low, conveniently get in the spot to review Forbidden West, and incidentally contribute to an ongoing meta narrative taking shape that is being drawn along console warring lines?

Look I have no problem with review scores in general, but where is the consistency? How is Elden Ring a 97-worthy MC when it is riddled with performance issues and borderline unplayable on PC without lots of crashes that impact the experience? Why did almost none of the reviews mention these technical issues? How are games being graded differently when it comes to technical, objective measures that should be consistent among all of them in terms of weight towards a final score? Why are certain websites weighed much higher towards the final MC than others, and is the only criteria the amount of traffic they bring, or is there an actual periodic review process that looks at the quality of their reviews and consistency of logic applied in their reviews from a period of time, that rewards weighing in the system based on actual merit?

I think it's time to finally start asking these questions because some things aren't sitting right with some of the more recent rounds of releases and their MC scores, all things considered.

I suppose its a valid criticism for someone who is reading reviews, who is caught up in the hype, but doesn't quite understand what GT is. Obviously for car and racing fans...we eat this up...but for someone just trying to figure out if they want to buy the game...it might be useful.

That’s it. I can’t stand it.

I’m getting this on Friday, despite just having bought Elden Ring and only played it for about 2 hours. Fuck my money, fuck my time.

I need some GT7 in my veins.
Attaboy. At least the two games are so different, they can easily be enjoyed at the same time.

So looks like it is basically just built on top of Sport. Lazy fuckers.

Still, looks good (not amazing) and the single player mode sounds like it is a blast. Shame I still can't get a PS5 at retail price though... oh well nevermind.

Hope they blow our socks off with whatever PS5-only Gran Turismo they (presumably) bring out in like 2025 or something.

"Only people who are pre-destined to like a game should review them" - NeoGAF

Their opinion was, as they stated, that it's not interesting info to anyone actually into cars either..

Not everyone enjoys the same things, some people are outright aggravated by something other people love.. that's all normal, and as long as a reviewer explains their opinion.. that's fine.

Before again people come here to say that Forza Motorsport has higher reviews, which is true. Simulations will never review as good as arcade racers, because arcade racers is for a broader audience, while simulations need to sacrifice some fun bits in favor of realism.
Forza Motorsport is the simulation games and the first 4 scored in the 90s

reviews are more possitive than I expected, also great there is physics improvement even more to simulation direction according to SuperGT and VVV reviews

When I take aggregated reviews into account for a purchase I treat Sony first party scores as the low end of a curve. There's just way too much money in clickbait to pretend all reviews are approached the same.

Racing games look so good. I just can't get myself interested in the genre anymore.
i can guarantee you, if you get in to the sport mode. and actually learn high level play, you won't stop playing. winning a race online is an adrenaline rush, im talking about race properly not bump into people
