Gran Turismo Sport announced

Guys sorry for the slight off-topic, but since I'm still a Junior I can't create a new thread right now.

I'm getting a PS4 very, very soon and I have this crazy urge to get some good racing games (cars and/or that has an engine and goes FAST). It's just one of the genres that has always given me tons of fun because of the graphics and endless gameplay.

edit: Sorry, yes I want recommendations :p
Driveclub, Driveclub and Driveclub.

I wish developers would just state what a game is when they announce it. All this inscrutable marketing speak about 'experiences' and 'platforms'. You're supposed to be selling me a product, not telling me to start sniffing out leads and pounding the pavement on my investigation. Like, just pretend I'm not a ninth-tier marketing executive explain something to me in plain English for once.

I have to wonder if Sony pushed Polyphony to get something out in the PSVR launch window, hence the seemingly pared back approach.

I think the point is to revitalize the brand.

I kind of got the same feeling, and it allows them to potentially evolve GT into a service/platform rather than being stuck in the traditional structure of releasing one or two numbered games per console generation.

I can't see this being "Gran Turismo 7", there's no way the next mainline Gran Turismo game would be announced with such a lack-lustre presentation. This is obviously going to use assets from the GT mainline series but in a more motorsport/online focused game.
GT Sports is just going to be an offshoot of the series.

Gran Turismo 7 is going to be huge, rebranding the entire series to GT Sports wouldn't make much sense at all from a marketing perspective. Look at all the people who are confused as fuck already.

My 2 cents.

This was overlooked earlier this morning, but it's a key detail as well

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi then tours the SEMA show floor to personally inspect each car and meet the tuners who built it. After selecting a favorite, Kazunori announces the “Best in Show” winner at a massive party in one of Las Vegas’ premiere nightclubs, and that car will be featured in the next GT game.

SEMA selection cars usually aren't that up to date. For example, GT6 only included cars up to the SEMA 2011 winner, even though it was released in 2013. So that suggests that they're modeling cars at a much faster rate now.

I don't think it's that confusing aside from people over-thinking and over-speculating. It was very much presented as the next GT. Nothing in the language used indicates any kind of offshoot or spinoff game. They even threw the "for ages 7-77" thing in there.

In for more updates and screens. I'm a little confused as to what this will be exactly.

What a missed opportunity By sony. gt6 should have been out on ps4 already, instead They made for ps3, now gt7 will be out like in 2017 or further Just horrible.

That reads like exactly what GTHD turned out to be.

You linked to a press release about GT HD Concept. Not the same as GT HD. That's like linking to a press release about GT5: Prologue and saying it's a press release for GT5.

GT HD got cancelled. While I don't think this game will get cancelled, I have a hard time believing it'll be a full fledged GT title.

But yeah, my GT HD comparison really doesn't make sense when I look at that fact.

I suppose what I'm really expecting is this. GT Sports = GT Academy + GT7 Prologue

Just because they call it the next iteration of GT (which technically HD Concept, and 5 Prologue were at their respective times) and say that fans can expect similar depth (which can just be referring to the driving mechanics) doesn't mean it's 7. Until they flat out say they're getting rid of the numbering and rebooting the franchise into GT Sports, nobody can say without a doubt that this is GT7.

Why do people keep insisting this is GT7.

It's nothing like a mainline GT in terms of structure and progression based on what we know. Also, it's heavily focused on race cars when the whole GT philosophy is about being able to drive your real life car in game.

It's clearly a spin off/prologue type game that will set the foundations for GT7.

They should have called it that, more Sales and get more people excited.

You are determining already, on the day they announced the thing, that they will lose sales and fail to get people excited? And all because of a single number not being in the title, as if the name "Gran Turismo" doesn't carry enough weight as it is?

The game has a Mazda Miata in it, which is about as far away from a race car as you can get.

Where did we get confirmation on that?

Great though, if true.

Racing fans, brace yourselves — this evening at the Paris Games Week PlayStation Press Conference, Kazunori Yamauchi, along with SCEE CEO & President Jim Ryan, unveiled on stage the latest Gran Turismo iteration: Gran Turismo Sport, coming to PS4 in 2016.

No confirmation on whether it's actually GT7 or not.

Beta is confirmed to be in spring next year, so it's a safe assumption to think the game would be out the same year.

Edit: There we go, apparently ps blog officially confirmed a 2016 release date for the actual game.

According to gt planet is has a career and an arcade mode. Then again, they seem to know more than what was shown during the press event. What I do not get is why the title was announced like literally any other PS4 game. I expect far more details, in-game videos and information from a proper GT announcement.

Im not saying it will fail to get people excited, but of course gt7 would get more people excited, they know it will be a full fledged sequel instead of maybe a spinoff, as you know gt6 didn't sell so hot cause of the way sony handled it. Sony should already released a gt on ps4, cause thats when the user base is most hungry and wanna experiance a nextgen GT. I just want gt to do great its my favorite racing franchise.

How do you know this? We haven't even seen how it will be marketed. I'm sure Sony will spare no expense to make it clear this is the next GT game. A number is not going to prevent that. The fact that "gt6 didn't sell so hot" should tell you it has nothing to do with the numbered title.

I said "heavily focused". Look at the title. Sport. It's about motorsports and less about car culture. And it being the latest iteration of GT has nothing to do with anything.

Nothing you said has anything to do with anything. You just made a bunch of assumptions and passed them off as fact.

and the fact that they are saying it is the next iteration of GT kind of goes against you trying to argue that it's not the next iteration of GT.

Im not 100% sure but you can already see from posts here, its already confusing people. anyway hope you're right

It's been less than a day. I'm sure when the game is closer to release and the marketing ramps up it will be clear what this game is. Also don't take stuff that happens on GAF as at all indicative of the general consumer. People here sometimes like to confuse themselves just for the sake of saying they are confused.

i dont give a shit about wether this is gt7 or not, they could even call it gran turismo butthurt idc, just give it to me.
As long as i can race online with my friends everything is fine.
this plus VR, sooooogood.

It's the next iteration in terms of it debuting the new physics, sound and graphics. That doesn't make it a mainline GT.

I'm not making assumptions. I'm the only one providing reason. If this were a GT7 there would be no confusion, regardless of the title.

My interest in Gran Turismo has become pretty moot over the years, but I'll maybe check it out. The last one I played was 3 or 4.

I like Forza better, tbh, but generally just prefer arcade racers.

Sounds like single player, online, and local multi. Just with more elegant and racing relevant names.

I'm still with the notion that this is definite GT7, but the new name is to evoke the fact that it's always been about racing as a sport, rather than just driving around a car at speed limit. Video was pretty clear.

Also expecting, like Driveclub (and the Bikes DLC) that it will also be supported with updated for years. Even the last two got significant updates, but not as regularly as DC was doing. Hoping for track editor.

This seems like a major release, but without the number.

Graphics will rock my world, and this will probably convince my mate to buy a ps4.

I hope they have more of a blow-out for this game at PSX. This was a strangely nonchalant way to announce the next entry in the biggest PlayStation franchise.
