Gran Turismo Sport demo coming Oct. 9

I just realized (racing Dragon's Tail over and over) that the red number on the HUD is the gear you should be in going into the next turn. Or at least I think it is, seems to match up. Maybe that's old news, but I haven't played a GT since 3.

And it starts flashing at a conservative braking point. pretty helpful.

Is anyone buying this for single player only? Before the demo, i was convinced i wouldn’t (i don’t have PS+ anymore) but now i’m not so sure. I spent most of the demo time just driving on Dragon Trail doing single player races against the AI and i ended up genuinely enjoying myself. The demo really grew on me the more i played and playing against AI was challenging and fun. I think there might be enough content there for me, getting to know each track and car with the various tests, missions and single player races.

the only big regret is aliasing in the photo mode ... even after the processus rendering the final image it is too visible and ruins the photo mode some times .. please PD fix it quickly ..:/

How do all of you wheel people setup your gaming environment? I have honestly no clue of how it blends in a standard Couch / TV setting.

Feel free to attach pictures :p

Best to not use the couch and instead bring in a desk chair(you’ll want some back support and you can’t really slink back into a couch using the wheel easily). Ideally you would also get a stand for the wheel since you probably can’t clip it to a coffee or low table. Wheelstand pro is a popular choice.

I’m sure some creative options exist though if you refuse to go that route.

Fuck it, grabbing a T150...People say the pedals are dog shit but I’m pretty sure I’m not “hardcore” enough to notice...I have the T100 and pedals didn’t bother me whatsoever...£130 cheapest found so far...

You won’t notice or care unless you directly try better pedals. And really it doesn’t matter then as the default pedals are perfectly cromulent for casual use.

Unless you get really hardcore and start demanding more brake resistance, a clutch pedal, and some more weight, even then you can just get the better pedal upgrade to swap anyway(Thrustmaster wheels are modular). But you won’t need to. If you are just looking to have some more immersive thrills with GTS or some other racers, the T150 is all good.

Can anyone explain me what are the UK PSN preorder bonuses of the normal edition? What is a pace car pack for example.I thought the packs are for another thread.

That’s my thinking dude...hopefully my pad times translates over to the wheel 8)

Yup. I may wait for a sale or I may just impulse buy it one day but I'll be playing strictly single player content. The demo was a lot of fun just doing challenges and AI races. Doesn't hurt that it looks nice too.

Really miss playing Sport mode already so I've been watching Sport mode races on YouTube. They're actually good to watch as well.

Yes, I noticed something like setting 'SR must be minimum ___' or words to that effect.
But I wonder if it will actually effect your SR...

I think it's just a filter disallowing lower SR to join. I didn't notice any SR points be given in lobby races and that's probably for the best, so people can't boost their ratings in lobbies.

it would be better if it doesn't, i think. would be a good way to practise without getting burned for potential mistakes.

leave that to the sport mode, i'd say.

Old? Some informations from guys on reddit who got the game yesterday:

- SR and DR carry over
- Sport mode interface is similar but now has a section for tournaments (currently empty)
- Player level gets reset
- Up to 5K Mileage points from the demo (I don't think this was known)
- 6-6 is not the only endurance race
- No signs of weather so far
- Driving Etiquette is apparently just two videos? (weird, pre-delay it was 10 whole tests)
- As suspected, Campaign is not playable without connection (Blog post didn't mention it, if you noticed). I'm guessing it needs the data for the first few online races you do.
- No Clubs or in game communities (VADER_NOOOOOOOOOOO)

I think people are grossly over stating the fun of previous GT a spec events. They were so rote by GT5 and GT6. They added some fun challenge missions and gran tour stuff, but the main game boiled down to hot lapping against meaningless AI. A lot of the challenges were start from last, get first place. It was so boring and empty. One good race with clean driving in Sport is a thousand times more rewarding than an entire a spec campaign of driving by yourself in 1st place lap after lap.

I love the car ownership stuff in GT games but that needs to be split out into its own game. GT Sport is about competitive racing and once you get a taste of racing against people of your own skill level, with clean racing, no single player campaign will ever compare. Racing games don't need hundreds of cars. It dilutes the racing aspect. All the license test and mission stuff in Sport is just bonus. Yes I would love to see a few more tracks at launch, but for a competitive online racing game, it is not content light.
Been saying this since forever. Only fun/challenging parts of old GTs were license tests, missions, Seasonal Events (especially the very first ones, before they dumbed them down) and multiplayer.
Racing online with clean drivers is where the fun is. I'm already addicted to Sport mode - and I only won once so far.

Does anyone think the chase cam default being set to rigid is a mistake? On first impression it does look very stiff and I have seen the same complaint several times on Reddit.
Probably. I like it, lets you see where you're pointing the car. But I realize I'm in the minority, so it's nice to see there's a setting for those who likes it to be more flexible.

This guy has a really good video of the Sport Mode

Over four hours long and nearly every race is relatively clean. It kinda shows a different mentality people have in Sport Mode where they aren't willing to risk their ranking just to try to dive bomb into a corner to grab a higher placement.

Did campaign gold medals carry over? Can't see it confirmed in your links.

PD/Kaz, pls. Seems the worst fear is now reality. Bit crummy in 4 years they went from not only ditching dynamic weather but weather completely. Oh well, incoming DriveClub patch.

No weather is a bummer hopefully it's planned along with dynamic TOD.

I'm ok with SR carrying over since I managed to claw my way back up to C before the demo ended.

I can't imagine it not being at least worked on when it's specifically referenced in the manual when explaining tire types. Not sure about Dynamic TOD though.

No, I just redid a few. I did not want to try many of them in the demo for this particular reason.

Thanks, skipped a couple events too since I had the same doubt.

I'm in C-C, too bad we'll be crossing paths with newcomers since they start in SR B.
