Multiplayer was the only part of GTA IV that was fun.
No, that was the DLC.

Yep. After dicking around for a while the realization came that there wasn't a single worthwile activity in Free Roam. The whole matchmaking/lobby system was absolutely horrendous as well. RDR was a bit better but still far away from being fantastic (or even great).
Say what you want about GTAIV's bare bones multiplayer, but RDR's was phenomenal.
It was only limited in certain modes, for gameplay reasons.Hopefully the online mode doesn't have barriers or walls like GTAV did. You know, limiting the size of the city you play in online. I want the whole damn city open for multi-player.

oh my
Anyone else notice the dollar amount on the top right?
I'd reckon what we're seeing is the player's safehouse. GTA online will be a natural extension of GTA V single player, aka GTA MMO.

GTA IV free roam with friends is a lot of fun.
It could also just work the same as money in RDR's Free Roam. Get some for kills, and posse missions, etc.
Yeah hopefully. Money in RDR served no purpose since you couldn't use it to buy characters or mounts. If they let us use it for clothes and customization stuff like you say, it'll be an enormous improvement over IV and RDR.True, but I imagine the money you get in GTA V can be used for customization and buying stuff. Investing in the stock market and having insider trading in GTA Online would be interesting.
The gang system in Max Payne 3 is carrying over to GTA V. I imagine turf wars and scuttles between clans/gangs will be one of the prominent features.
