Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Oh man I can't wait to see scenes like this with modern graphics.
Really curious to see how newer fans of the franchise will react to an AC game that throws back to the time when they actually tried to have good stories in these games and Matt Ryan was acting as if his life depended on it.

 
this looks bad, but i played a good 20-30 hours with RR off and on DLAA and it just lost its next gen sheen. Kinda like the latest James Bond trailers just look like they are missing that next gen look, Crimson Desert just doesnt look as good without RR. It's a big picture game anyway. You almost never notice these close up details unless you are indoors or play in first person.

The thing is, even with DLSS DLAA and RR off there is detail loss. Native 4K without any upscaling is superior in this regard.
I'm in a quandary. Now that I know about this, I see it all the time, I'm a terrain detail whore. On the other hand, RR offers the best lighting, though with added flickering and occasional boiling. I'm constantly switching between modes, this sucks! :messenger_neutral:

Im dying to see the ezio games in this quality. I think this will sell really well and doing that game next should be a no brainer for Ubi
i wonder which team is handling this remake. Ubisoft Quebec did AC Shadows, Odyssey and Syndicate, but the OG Black Flag team which did Origins and Valhalla hasnt shown anything this gen. They are supposed to be working on AC Hex but we havent seen anything since the announcement teaser 2 years ago. Maybe that game is in development hell, and the main team just moved on to getting this out first.
 
Crimson Desert DLSS implementation still destroys detail (Yeah, I know they didn't mention fixing it with the latest patch).
Gonna keep this shit off and stay with 4K native then.

I don't know what happen with your game but please stop saying this as an absolute truth. It's not as bad as in your screen and I made some direct comparaison by myself after an user (maybe you?) posted something similar. And I didn't find any massive difference (if at all) in how the POM is handled either RR is on or off.
It's been fixed since the previous update, not even the latest.

Nah, not even close. The AC engine just isnt going for that CG look im afraid. The character models are a huge improvement but despite the fancy hair, i dont think blackbeard in the game even comes close to this model. the scene where Edward jumps on the other ship and starts killing every is light years away.

this is where UE5 stands out. They can somehow capture that CG look other engines just cant. But thats ok, this is an open world game that has to run on 6 year old consoles. Maybe next gen, devs can use some other tricks to fake the CG look. Right now though, there is maybe one game out there that looks better than AC Shadows, and thats Crimson at times. Im sure Black Flag will be far more consistent and push fidelity in other ways.

EDIT: Case in point, this brief clip of Exodus just released today. May not be pushing as much detail as Black Flags, but my god look at how CG this lighting looks.

you can also try zipping the file to reduce the size below 5GB.
 
Distinct lack of blood for some reason.
As others have mentioned, I think that's a YouTube/preview issue. You'll see blood in some scenes, but not in others. I think it was toned down for this stream, but I'm sure it'll be in the full game - it always has been, no reason to think this would somehow be different 🤷‍♂️
 
I think AC looked pretty shitty actually. Like way worse than I was exspecting.
The models are okish I guess. The art style looks to cartoonish and gamey. And the water doesnt look to havd upgraded polygoncount much at all and looks outdated and flat. Dont get me started on the zero wind simulation on trees while sailing. Suprised at the response here. :/

It's really too bad Ubisoft just stopped developing whatever facial animation tech they had with Assassin's Creed. 12 years later and it's still peak for the series.

The issue seems to affect areas with lots of pebbles/stones more likely.
I checked again and can confirm that (at least on my machine: 4070 ti super/7800X3D) Ray Reconstruction removes lots of details (DLSS DLAA 'RR off' is fine).
Feel free to check at the same location (if you want to). At ~4:00pm it's quite noticeable:

I'm pretty sure that's one of the first scenes in the intro. They meet for the first time here so its likely a scene shot on a set time of day. Just an artistic to change the time of day to that ugly brown ps360 era ue3 look to a proper day time scene.

But yes, good to see grifters get called out. I'm still pissed off about ac shadows flopping.

Double-checked your last pics again on my rig at the same spot and same time of day (11am), and yeah, it looks... basically the same.

The big differences in my shots (4pm, slightly panned to the right) remain, nevertheless.
I conclude that this is heavily scene dependent then, and time of day (narrow slanting sun) aggravates it a lot.
Just a few more protruding displacement mapping pixels cast way longer, more visible shadows concerning the light source angle.
Certainly not a big deal for most players, I'm sure, but I seem to stumble over it all the time... now that I'm looking for it. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

So at this current state, 4K native is still my preference, since I'm outdoors most of the time crawling through the gravel, and RR only looks substantially better indoors, IMO.
