Gravity Rush 2 coming to NA, Gravity Rush Remastered is digital only

I don't know how SCEA can expect customers to be excited when they hardly seem to want to put in the bare minimum. If they are re releasing the game to grow the fanbase they are doing a very bad job by figuratively sweeping the release under the rugs themselves. They need to act confident in the release if they expect customers to put their hard earned dollars there. This looks especially damning when you see smaller even indie titles managing to make the investment into getting their games onto store shelves. I can't believe this is a first party effort.

I'm not surprised, look at Until Dawn.

This shot right here. GR: remastered is going to Bomb no matter what. :(

Thanks to Sony, if they gave a tenth of what they gave to the Uncharted Collection marketing wise I'm sure the game would not bomb.

Or even if you don't want to do that bundle it. A GOW3, Tearaway Unfolded and Gravity Rush bundle would be great and would not cost them anything.

Might just say screw it and play my unopened copy of GR for the Vita. Really frustrates me that SCEA is making such a blunder. How they fuck do they expect GR2 to sell on PS4? GRR will be lost on the PS Store with this digital only nonsense.

Arrogant Sony is returning back with full force!

If the "full force" of Sony's arrogance is that you don't get a physical version of a remake of a niche game on a failed handheld, then we live in blessed times indeed.

Why does everyone think a physical version of GRR would somehow cause GR2 to sell? It will literally make no difference. The lack of actual marketing is what will cause GR2 to bomb.

As if the game wouldn't fade into obscurity on a Gamestop shelf too, as it already has once before.

Port game to PS4 to help grow the fanbase... release it digital only.

Well so much for this IP. SCEA as usual doesn't show any confidence.

Yes? Tons of games are released digital only that have good fanbases?

Also, why should they show confidence? It's a port of a niche game on their failed handheld!

The fact that it was ported at all is basically so that it avoids the awkwardness of "Gravity Rush 2? Where is 1?"

Are fanbases of niche games always this silly? Gravity Rush 2 will be niche as hell too! =P

At least it's confirmed. Lol digital only for the first game. That just guaranteed I don't need to get it. Vita version is enough.

You don't release the first game digital only in an area that still relies heavily on physical sales to sustain most games not made by some small indie studio, then proceed to kill the only market that would make you turning this series into a PS4 exclusive even make sense. Because Asia sure as hell isn't going to pick up the slack with a PS4 exclusive.

So hows this series going to do better on PS4 now? It should've been PS4/Vita atleast.

Aren't you contradicting yourself there?

No, I'm just saying I didn't realize that it was that important to people. I can still believe that the people that want a physical release, should get one.

I didn't know that people actually got upset over the lack of one.

Edit: Especially since it is 1st party.

I wonder how much it will be to import a EU version - I never imported myself.

My local Frys always did imports of EU games - its how I was able to get Breath of Fire III for PSP which never released in the US.

Maybe they'll have it here - hopefully...otherwise I guess I'll wait for a sale on PSN.

Like Tearaway.

lol I wonder how this sold...probably why this release is digital only? Naaaaaahhhhh... surely THIS Vita castoff would sell better physically! =)

(I'm happy to pick GR up for $29.99 digital instead of $40 physical)

I understand that it's disappointing that there isn't a physical edition, but it's nice that it's only $30 for GR1 PS4. Fantastic game on the Vita and probably even better on the PS4.

Sure, if you show as much confidence in it as SCEA have done.

Is there a reason not to? Gravity Rush is a good game, but lets not pretend that it's poised to become the next big franchise in gaming and is being inhibited only by the lack of a physical release. It's not going to be marketed well, just like all of the other games Sony has sent out to die, and that's the real problem. Physical release wouldn't make a lick of difference.

First Yakuza 5 now GR Remastered... dammit Sony! I don't get it. I know these games aren't expected to be big sellers, but if you can get a physical version of almost every super-niche JRPG or visual novel on Vita, you should be able to get these games too.

What's the explanation? Are they just trying to avoid used sales? Seems like these kinds of fan-fervor projects would be the last thing to be traded in, especially with a low print run.

I'll see if my account manager knows anything about the digital only decision for NA. I doubt they'd give us the opportunity, but we'd certainly love to help get an NA physical version out there.

Drfinitely.

That's usually what happens when you don't market a game.

I mean, sure. You're not really refuting my point or anything.

They didn't market Tearaway on Vita. They didn't market it on PS4. They didn't market GR on Vita. You tell me the next step.

If people are concerned about the game staying relatively niche and obscure, I'd say don't fret 'cause it's doomed to that fate regardless of release format 'cause Sony's not throwing big marketing money behind it or games like it. It's niche, it's going to stay niche, and its sequel is going to be niche, too.

This feels like one of those shitty times where I want to import the figma edition, import the EU edition, and also buy it digitally. That's probably not what I'm going to end up doing, but I'm tempted.

I need this to happen.

Yakuza is Sega. And Yakuza fans failed the series to the point where we should be happy to get 5 in the first place.

Sony doesn't bring out those VNs or super niche JRPGs. Super niche publishers do with super limited print runs.

This post is nonsense actually. Did you buy Tearaway on PS4? If so, congrats, you were one of ten. =P

After NoA's digital efforts vs physical releases of certain games I'm not affected by this. The game being a Vita exclusive already solidified a small fan base and just like Tearaway if it got the physical re-release it more than likely would not do much. A limited run would be cool but if not I wont trip. I'll buy digital and go all in on the sequel.

Edit:

Meanwhile this is awesome if it happens and I'd be behind it 1hunnid.
