Gravity Rush 2 Spoiler Thread

While it didn't grab me quite as firmly as the first game, GR2 is still very good. The Raven DLC is looking hot, and I'd gladly take another game starting either of the shifters.

Finally finished the main storyline and can open this thread!

And in fact it would have been safe to read this at any time, because the plot is incomprehensible and the game is still a lot of fun because the gameplay and atmosphere are both so amazing. I basically had no idea what was going on in those last few chapters. It seems like Kat eventually saves Hekseville no matter what, because even if you interpret the "postgame is back to Chapter 21" thing as being Kat taking that demon's choice, the story mission starter is always there, and you're meant to eventually take it at some point.

I'm just wondering how the Vendecentre town square is rebuilt so perfectly after just a year. The same thing happens with the big banners in Jirga Para Lhao -- a giant battle destroys them, then they're back, immediately. Maybe the gravity anomalies all over this world somehow pull matter back into its former state.

Anyway, I've finally got access to the Saghassi paintings (this is a great name; sagashi is Japanese for "find / look for"!) and have already spotted the one under the Vendecentre clock and another near the church island in Auldnoir (which this game's story never takes you to; does it?). The text doesn't seem to say anything, though alternate lines seem to be in different languages. Some could be in Japanese -- it's really tantalizing! I'm going to try and find a few more of these before commenting.

Here's the album with the paintings. Unfortunately I think there's just a few which are easily readable with these screens, as in some cases I had to zoom back a bit to catch the entire painting in the picture.

Thank you very, very much for those! I actually used the PS4's screenshot feature so that as much as possible could fit in the "frame".

From what I'm seeing, it looks like the same phrases are being repeated over and over. Some could conceivably be Japanese, but with the drop-every-third-letter system you can't be entirely sure what they're supposed to say.

For example, in the Vendecentre clock painting, we see lines like this:

IEIE
ATIAAGHCNIN   AGADAA
KHCNIAKORK
ATADRAIHHOETBUA   HKHPUONHC
ETIAOMDU
ATHSDOUFTOPINOSISOEHEMU
ETIAAGHS

...and H and J look so similar that I might be reversing them in a few places, plus there's a letter that looks like Japanese ん and could be either an M or a sloppy A.

The ATHS part could be deshita (でした "was") and the ATADRAIHHOETBU in the next line could be subete no ha hikari datta (全てのは光だった "everything was light"). Th OMDU could be ude mo (腕も "arms also").

The next to last line is really close to something like ue men he no saisho no ippo to ... deshita" 上面への最初の一歩…でした which could mean "it was (someone's) first step toward the upper surface and ...". It could be. And it also could be me seeing something when in fact nothing is there. ("Ue men" isn't even a natural way to say "upper surface",)

The final line could be some different abbreviation rule concealing the word "sagashite" which means "find!" and is a pun on the artist's name.

This is going to take a lot more time and effort. I really hope something interesting is hiding in here!

(And here are the values of the letters, for reference:)

Just completed the Raven DLC, which left a LOT more questions on hand.

  • Raven's true relationship with Kat is still unclear. Bit still refers to Kat as "[Raven's] other half", and Raven appears to know Kat to some degree before their first meeting.
  • The ending, where Bit rewrites history so the bus didn't fell. But didn't the incident happen 50+x years ago? Shouldn't Zaza and Sachya be older?
  • Adding to that, Bit referred to Raven as "Sachya" in the main game in Chapter 23. So, her memories aren't completely wiped?
  • Lumino and Tenebria were terribly underused. Like they show up for a bit and then disappear. That's it. Disappointing.

In addition to that, they resolved the Ark plot in the messiest way possible. It still doesn't explain why Xii went out of its way to find and imbue its power onto Sachya (same can be said with Dusty and Alua).

I also don't get what Bit said about the Ark returning to its proper place or the Ark being a space-time anomaly. Can someone brief me on the Ark and its role in the first game?

I definitely need a Gravity Rush 3 to untangle everything, but I fear it'll just make things worse.

Oh well, at least the music was good.

They spent a good amount of time with the Ark in the first game, but I think the DLC recapped it effectively enough. It was just... there in Boutoume and happened to be the ticket out for the children, waiting for Kat to arrive and activate it.

The Zaza seen at the end is not the same one from in the bus. Thus, Sachya explaining: "I was named after my grandpa's [original Zaza's] imaginary friend."
