Gravity Rush Experts needed for Beta Testing in San Mateo, CA" (Vita Only)

All I ask is for a more fluid camera and better controls. I can understand why it was an issue for the vita but it has to be fixed on the ps4.

I would say no on that one; both did well on Vita (in JP at least) and they were built in mind for handheld experience and local MP (though Freedom Wars has online play too....). If Sony is lacking first party exclusives, I could see a few Vita ports happening but don't expect that to happen.

.....Let the Vita have its games man :(.

I didnt say they SHOULD, I said they COULD. Because they are great games and were successful new IP. And I'm not saying ports, but sequels or something new made for the PS4.

Never mind what I said then, and I'm sorry if I sounded mean :(.

The Vita gets trashed on by people sometimes, so its easy to get defensive about the console.

Still, I agree with you; a PS4/Vita Freedom Wars and Soul Sacrifice would be interesting to see.

obligatory "muh inbox"

On-topic, maybe they're bringing Gravity Rush 2?

Since you guys are on the subject, the art style and themes of Soul Sacrifice in a more open field, interconnected world set up on PS4 could be pretty amazing. It'd be to the instanced gameplay what Dark Souls was to Demon's Souls archstones... but a more radical difference.

A open-world Soul Sacrifice would be very interesting, as the lore of the series is so well thought out, that it really could be expanded into a JRPG or Action/Adventure game.

I would be very open to a larger/expanded take on the ideas the series has on PS4 if pulled off well honestly :).

.....And thank you for reminding me to play SS: Delta XD. I got that a while back.....and I still never played it yet X(.

Glad we came to that :). I love my Vita too, so I get a bit defensive about the console time to time XD.

Slap SS's combat system into an open world full of twisted monsters, insane villagers, and conspiracies? Yes please.

I am really really excited for whatever happens next with Gravity Rush. Hopefully we'll hear about it at TGS. I'm a huge fan of the first game and just want the franchise to thrive.

Can you imagine Gravity Rush with PS4 graphics? Its going to be glorious.

not really surprised at a Gravity Rush 2 at this point just taking forever.

I'm wondering what the development of that game is like right now, as it might have pulled a Last Guardian and shifted platforms mid-cycle (PS Vita too PS4) and now are facing a few issues (gameplay mechanics working with the PS4 controller, making the world bigger, ect) with the game.

I feel that TGS this year will be very kind to Sony, as we have a lot coming for their systems:
-Ys PS4/Vita: Hopefully some gameplay is shown off again
-FFXV, KH3 and Dragon Quest XI
-Gravity Rush
-Unannounced Level-5 Exclusive
-FFVII Remake Information/Gameplay Demo (hopefully :)?)
-Dangraompa 3 announcements/trailer/teaser
-And more

I hope it looks similar to the original concept trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKxvXt5Wg-Q

I don't think they would have any controller issues. The PS4 controller has motion controls that will work fine for aiming, and the touch screen stuff can easily be moved to the buttons. Likely they are spending time making the game bigger and more detailed. The first gravity rush was original meant to be a smaller download only game on PS3, so if they are trying to make GR2 a full $60 retail game on PS4 then they've got their work cut out for them.

It's obviously GR remaster for ps4, GR is a japanese game, the only GR that can be done in the usa is a remaster and obviously vita owners are the only GR "experts".

After all the support they've given the Vita recently, I can't imagine it is anything to do with a sequel on Vita. But I want to believe.

There was leaked info a while back about GR PS4. I feel like they want to maybe test the PS4 version with people who played it on Vita to be sure its as easy to pick up?

Sounds like they want opinions of vita players to see how well the remaster was able to translate the experience to PS4.

Does anyone know any porting devs in San Mateo?

Pretty much, they wouldn't hire people to test GR2 in California before the game is even announced

If they cut out the shitty fan service then yes

shitty fan service? shows how desensitized i've become, i guess, cuz, having played & replayed the game, i don't really remember any real fan service, shitty or otherwise. i mean, you can't be talking about the costumes, right? they're just costumes...

I didn't like the first game that much because of the numerous time trials, but do hope that a sequel comes out on the Vita.

There was one shower scene. But it really wasn't much.

Yeah there was definitely some fan service but it wasn't too bad at all. Brief and uncommon and not extreme. Maybe that's because Kat actually has very realistic proportions for a girl in her late teens. I love GR partially because all the most powerful and important characters are women and, while their outfits are a little silly, they're treated with respect and are well fleshed out as characters.

Well its a 5 hour drive, but if theres even a smidgen of a chance i get to try out GR2, ill make the trip. Ive got all the trophies, hopefully that means im an "expert"

Agreed, I think they handled the characters really well.

Im not remembering any but if there was then yeah!
Considering she looks around 14 this is a bit messed up an inexcusable

And to say "Well its only a little bit" who the fuck cares? There shouldnt be any.

Soul Sacrifice yes, especially given Bloodborne's popularity. Freedom Wars, ehhhhhh, the world is really interesting, gameplay, environments, and monsters, not so much.

how does bloodborne have anything to do with soul sacrifice. completely different in every way

I mean the degree/extent is definitely relevant. The fan service is stupid but it's really not that bad and the game generally treats Kat with a lot of respect.

Maybe it's because I see her as 19 or 20 and not 14, but as a hardcore radical feminist I generally look at Gravity Rush as a game that handled its female characters really well 95% of the time. Plus only the spy outfit is that bad as far costumes go. I was definitely put off by the shower scene but it was minute enough that I could deal with it.

Thinking about it she's definitely supposed to be older than 14. I'd put her as 18 at least. Think about her tension with Syd, who is a detective and has five o clock shadow all the time. He's definitely supposed to be in his early twenties. Then there's the crush on the high school guy, who seems to be a senior, so 18. Then consider the scene of her finding a place to live, which is all about a young woman living on her own for the first time and building a home - not really thematically fitting for a 14 year old. I'd confidently put her at 18 or 19, maybe 20.

Just so you know I'm defending the game and Kat as a character, not the fan service. I still think the fan service was dumb, just minor enough that it was easily looked over, especially in the context of the game. I would prefer the second not to have it.

Similar themes, tone, and settings.

i don't really see it. i guess they both have monsters. i doubt that it would help the game's combat system or mission structure for someone going into it expecting bloodborne.
