Right off the bat, they have the same extreme bleakness and sense of being in a world already beyond saving. Everything is terrible and that's just the way it is.i don't really see it. i guess they both have monsters. i doubt that it would help the game's combat system or mission structure for someone going into it expecting bloodborne.
Bloodborne has some similar themes of sacrifice, although they're less intentional than SS. But in both games, the pursuit of power warps first the mind and then the body, turning people into terrible monsters. All of the bosses in SS and many in Bloodborne were once people who were corrupted by the pursuit of power, no matter how good or bad their intentions were. They lost their humanity and became beasts to be purged.
And in both games, the slaying of these monsters is viewed similarly - a necessary evil, but still cruel and violent, and a hunter always walks a fine line of becoming a beast themself. Plus lots of blood magic.
The gameplay and world design are totally different, of course, but the themes and settings are very similar.
