Not surprising given that EA is publishing it, and also given that no Origin-required game with DLC ever appears on Steam these days until a "GOTY/Maximum edition" is out with all the DLC bundled in... that means we won't be seeing this on Steam for a long while.

Good luck with sales.
 
Isn't it also Windows 8 exclusive or was that incorrect? That's a much bigger issue than requiring Origin.
 
This has been available on GMG for awhile with the Origin activation. Not surprising in the slightest and actually does not rule out a Steam release at all.

Titanfall is being published under EA Partners, which means Respawn controls the IP and can self-publish if they choose. Past examples of EA Partners games are Kingdoms of Amalur, Secret World, and Bulletstorm.

Even if a version of Titanfall is released on Steam, it will be a standalone version. Meaning, that it will not be Steamworks and keys bought from 3rd party retailers will activate on Origin and not Steam.

I'm ok with this. Valve does the same thing, it's not wrong just because it's coming from EA. Not to mention I can get a full refund if I don't like the game.
 
Ok, the next time people have a sit-down with Peter Moore they really need to ask why EA can't do a more logical idea of delaying a Steam release by a few weeks and offering a superior deal on Origin at launch to attract more customers. Hell, offer some minor DLC to sweeten the pot, if they really want to keep improving their image they'll do something like this.

I get they need to maximize profit, I just wish there was some way to incorporate both clients that still gave the publishers bigger benefits.
 
People put up with it for Battlefield 3 because it was an established franchise which always, and still does, cater to PC players.

If they want this to have a sizeable PC audience they better start talking about the PC version and not shoving it under the rug like they are during interviews, focusing solely on the Xbox One version.

They'd rather make it origin-exclusive and have a ridiculous price like £40-£45 pounds that won't see a discount to sane, expected PC prices.

It's not a bad bit of software, wish they were more competitive with it outside of exclusivity of IP.

It could very well mark the debut of Origin-linked games on Steam in that running the Steam version launches an individualised instance of the Origin client from where the game proper is launched (akin to what Ubi does with the Steam versions of its Uplay titles), but as Origin lacks any sort of overarching API a la Steamworks or Ubi's Uplay achievements, this wouldn't exactly be necessary.
 
If it's on Origin then I won't buy. That bloody thing can't run on my PC and EA support has been helpless. I never have a problem with Steam and Uplay.
 
Origin's not terrible, though I'd really rather have this on Steam. I can live with this, I guess.

Possibility 1: Boilerplate text that didn't get updated.
Possibility 2: You can play privately in an instance of the same game populated only by bots, similar to single player in games like Battlefield 2, Quake Wars, Brink, or Counter-Strike.

They did just have a pretty damn good sale, sort of coinciding with the Humble Bundle. ME3 was $6, the trilogy was $20, there were also deals on Crysis games, Sims3 and its expansions, Battlefield 3 and its DLC. I don't know what the complaint is here.
 
Did anyone really expect anything different? I mean come on, BF3, BF4 and Titanfall are huge EA games that they can use to push their service.

EA's problem with Steam is that EA wants full DLC revenue, but they usually let EA Partner games choose their distribution. This might not be true for fully funded games however (a lot of EA Partner games used to be distribution deals or just loans).

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition has no DLC, which is why it's on the service.

I imagine TitanFall has a large DLC plan, so my suspicion is there won't be any version on Steam until all of that is released, and only if there's no ongoing microtransaction crates or something similar.
 
I expected this and have no problems with it. I don;t have any issues playing BF3 through origin and I really see it as exactly the same service as steam--although my steam account has some 300+ more games. Actually, the client itself might even be better than Steam, which I find to be a tad buggy and unstable at times.

As long as I get to play good games, I don't care which client they are sold through as long as the client is stable.
 
Figures. With all the kicking a screaming, and "fuck yous" to EA, they didn't care. EA is a corporate dick, and they just don't want to play by Valve's rules (whatever they may be). They won, If you want battlefield or NFS you have to have Origin... I still refuse to buy fuck all in that client, and they will never achieve Steam-level success with that thing.

Unless Steam change their policy regarding DLC, EA will continue to push Origin hard.
