anyone with the Japanese version know if the same driving mechanic of going full speed into corners and t-boning your opponent is still the best driving tactic?

It never was. Unless all you ever did was enter the kiddie races with the best cars of the game.

The people who keep on about this being a DEMO show me a console game demo that
has 71 cars 6 tracks forward/reverse 16 players on line and its own TV channel.
The only thing about GT5P thats a demo is the price I have paid

£17.99 incl vat and delivery from play.com

How much is it going to be in the U.S.?

Thanks, but it looks like I'll be waiting for the final version. I would pay 30 bucks at the absolute highest and even then that's a stretch.

See you on the track 2009 then!

MSRP in Europe is €39,99 (£24.99 in the UK). Play.com is selling it for ~28 (£17.99 in the UK).
So if it's $39.99 in the US, perhaps some store/chain will sell it for $30 or less as well.

Secondly, the download can be installed and played on up to 5 systems.
If you're really, really cheap, buy it from the PlayStation Store with a bunch of friends. Each pays $8.

$8 for 12 tracks, 70 cars and tons of races, both offline and online.

Fair point.

There are a select number of franchises that people would pay a decent amount of money to play a demo:

Metal Gear Solid
Halo
Gran Turismo
Absolutely.

I still can´t believe people pay money for a demo

It's not just a regular demo. There are so many hours of gameplay there. I've almost spent as many hours on the 1 track demo of GT:HD as I did completing Mass Effect ffs. :lol

I thought that was only valid for real psn titles, because warhawk is available as downloadable version also, and u can't share that with 5 pals.

Exactly. There have been plenty of highly acclaimed full-price games that don't offer as much as GT5P does, and GT5P is being released - in Europe, at least - at a budget price, around half the price of a standard new game.

Anyone remember Ferrari F355 challenge on the DC? Ten tracks, one car, 86% on Gamerankings (and a whole load of gushing fans at the time...)

Drift trial, reversed track... man, I played that for over 30 hours.

You were insinuating that people only bought Crackdown to play Halo 3.

It's weird but people bought the Halo 3 Beta first then found out that Crackdown wasn't a bad game. :lol

:lol It's funny because you know they are right. It's stupid to buy an inferior product when you know the superior version will eventually come down the line. I, fortunately, will not have to worry about this because I'll wait for Gran Turismo 6. Think about it, GT5 is just going to be another step in the timeline toward GT6. There really isn't a point in getting this. To show you how smart it is, I'll give you the example for why I didn't buy God of War because I knew God of War 2 was coming. Think about it, God of War 2 was superior in almost every aspect. It's the better game and thats why a lot of people bought God of War 2 who didn't buy the first God of War. Fortunately for me though, I'm not some stupid gamer peon who bought God of War 2 because I knew a superior game, God of War 3, was coming down the pipelines. You guys are all noobs.
Omg, I'm going to wait for MGS8!

Same thing for ZOE for me, I couldn't have been more disinterested in a futuristic mech fighting game if I tried, I brought it just for the MGS2 demo, and I really loved ZOE afterwards. But I had no issue paying £40 for the MGS2 demo, I really really needed to play it. And I probably put more time into that demo then I have in the full game afterward. And I've played the full game quite a few times.

I wouldn't call GT5P a demo, but chapter 1 (or the first 3 chapters say) - I'm sure they'll build on a lot of it's features like MyPage and TV etc.

The MGS4 bundle is months off, and there's not going to be a GTA4 bundle. GT5P will push hardware, they're being moronic.
If you seen the GT4 sales in NA, they might have a reason not to...

The States are simply not enthusiastic about Gran Turismo as one may expect. I think Kaz even said there's no market for GT5P in NA at all.

LOL - yeah, I'm with you. Looking forward to tomorrow's F1 season start? A perfect way for me to start the morning and celebrate my birthday :D

Freaking Ferrari reliability!! Quali sucked, but the BMWs look to be on pace with the McLaren. Massa drove like a scared little boy who had all the pressure put on him because the real star had a freaking fuel pump blow out on him.

Word to the wise for the Brits on GAF, how the hell do you guys watch ITV, I watched the live feed over the interwebs and good lord, its so slanted towards Lewis! I mean, yes, he's a Brit, but good LORD. Brundell sounds like he wants to make man-love to Lewis then cuddle with Ron Dennis.

Back OT, anyone know if the versions we receive in NA will be identical to the Euro version?

QFT and great justice. IF cost is really an issue, then game-share will cut down on that. Even going in halfway with someone will drop the price to $20US for each person. The complaints about the cost are hollow. I'm playing someone else's JP copy while I wait for the US version to come out. The only reason I haven't dumped more time into it is b/c the menus are unreadable, but otherwise it works perfectly. Hell, it didn't even cost me anything directly. I just shared some of my other PSN games.

PEOPLE: It's time to start tapping into the powers of the machines you bought. The PS3 has way more going for it than some of you think. If you have a nice friend, you can have a complete PSN library up and running on your system an hour or two after you bring it home from the store, at no extra cost. I had 11 games when I bought my PS3, thanks to a game-share. And I ended up buying 10 of them on my own anyway b/c I enjoyed them so much. It's a neat demo system of sorts, so long as you spread your game-share partners around the three regions. PEACE.

I didn't know that, it's really popular here in the UK, pretty much everyone who has a PS3 I know of is going to pick up GT5P on day one.

Europe is mad about racing games. People who do not understand why there is no - for now - GT5P bundles in the US are also wondering if Burnout flopped based on NPD charts.

Burnout and Dirt were lead on ps3 because Europe was assumed to love Sony before ps3 launch.

Racing games are made for euro audiences, WRC games are most of the times not released in the US, F1 racing games are the same.

I wish we didn't love NASCAR so much in the US. It's the worst racing of all time. Rally and F1 are so much more entertaining to watch. While I love my football (american style that is), the Euros have it right by loving soccer and non-Nascar racing.

Anyways, the F1 car definitely peaked my interest in GT5P. I'll definitely have to consider a PS3 once the price drops.

Can you game share GT5 Prologue PSN?

Or do you mean you can install the disc on multiple systems and it'll work? You can't share Warhawk.

Mind linking to some info on said kits?

Well what wheel do you have, how much money do you have to spend, do you want a permanent frame or one that can be taken apart and reassembled? Do you want a full on racing seat, do you want the seat permanently mounted?

Best bit of advice is hit the racing sites with forums, you will find people with all kinds of set ups, just ask around and people will set you up with what you need. This is how I did it, but then I made modifications to someones pre-design.

This summer I plan on building a full on tubular permanent steel frame with adjustable seat guide. I want a full cage setup, I plan for speaker mounts behind me with a built in cup holder & maybe an ashtray.

You can take the easy route and get a system either pre-build or easy assembly, but these can cost major dollars. Again hit the racing sites if you want to go this route, they can direct you towards good deals.

With this coming soon, I had to do a bit of Googling to find this - build your own racing frame for $30. It's not pretty, but it's hellishly cheap. Might get the parts for one today so I can be ready when GT5P arrives...

Of course then it's a slippery slope to the purchase of a real racing seat to add to it. :(

Word of advice as I've been down this road, plan on adding weight. When you have a system that doesn't have the seat tied in and you're using a PVC setup it can be to light weight for many surfaces. On carpet that wheel setup will move around like crazy while driving.

Best & cheapest solution, is to buy smaller PVC piping with with caps. Mind you you don't have to use PVC, but fill it with sand, cap the ends insert into existing PVC frame. Or you can just use heavy steel bars!

Best setup though is to find a way to tie the seat into you're frame, then you're weight eliminates any movement.

Oh yes. I remember F355 vividly. I must've spent days, never mind hours on that game. Just trying to better my lap times took up about 80% of my time spent on it rather than the actual racing itself. Dreamcast was good times.

While I have nothing against the real Gran Turismo games, I have no idea why anyone would pay $40 for what is little more than a demo. The only way I could justify that is if Sony offered to let those people pay $20 to get the real Gran Turismo 5 when it comes out.

Easy solution to that problem, don't pick it up then. There are plenty of us who think this game is worth much more than $40 and even some of us who are going to be buying this game for the second time as we first picked up the JP version.

One more thing though, ITS NOT A DEMO NOR IS IT A BETA!!!

I think Kaz would have been better off calling it something like GT: Prologue, with out the 5 so the "OMG moneiz for Demoz" crowd would stay away...

Full racing games at $60 have come with fewer features than Prologue.

Because it's not little more than a demo. There already was a demo.

I haven't played Forza Motorsport 2, the first one bored the hell out of me.

I am not a fan of sim-racing games, I would be saying the same thing for demos of other games (and it IS a demo. A really good demo, but still a demo). If it was $20, I would agree it's a good value, I even paid the $10 to get the Nintendo GameCube Preview Disc a few years ago.

A little more than a demo? Are you kidding?
