GT Sport E3 Build - Massive Upgrade

Driveclub has not spoiled with its graphics. It has spoiled me with the engine sounds it produces. GT Sport remains incredibly disappointing on that regard.

PD you crazy mofos

All racing games have disappointing sound imo, they all sound too clean, weak, thin, my Skoda sounds more like a beast in real lite than monster cars usually sounds in racing games. :P Haven't played Project Cars yet though.

I really need to dig up the GT5 threads. I could have swore a lot of people complained about the campaign and the grind.

Because everyone NEEDS to complain. No matter what the game gets, part of the neighbors' grass will still be greener. Some of the hyperbole in this thread is embarrassing.

So, they actually dropped the racing line entirely for GTS. Kaz says it's because all those do is make you drive over them instead of actually learning the track. Instead they've replaced them with what they've called racing markers. There are three markers per corner. One for the entry, the apex, and the exit. All placed where you car should be if you take the corner properly. Here's a video showing it off

Yeah, I hate racing lines so much. I always turn them off if a game has them.

Thats actually pretty cool, hope more racing games will copy it.

Isn't it just a racing line of sorts with arrow markers at three places instead of a complete line? I don't see the big difference, you'll likely drive a lot more angular through the curves.

You're going to have to learn braking and acceleration points on your own because you no longer have a line that tells you when you're supposed to brake or accelerate. That's key in learning a track. It's not a perfect solution, but it does force you to at least start to try to learn the track a bit on your own since you can no longer ride along a line the whole time.

It would be a nice thing if they have something like briefings for every track (also based on what kind of car one is driving) to give people the option to learn key parts of the track.

Love the new UI and menus and the graphics looks night and day from the reveal footage that we got. Still a little bit dissapointed about the sounds and the lack of any damage. It most noticeable when you drive in bumper cam and you hit another car, the cars are just a block of a hitbox.

Based purely on them links, Raceroom sounds ..phenomenal...Way way ahead of anything else...Dirt rally coming in 2nd....As a sound guy it's easy for me hear and appreciate just how much work goes into such things and Raceroom simply...well...we'll never get THAT level of realism on console...i simply can't see it.....Not for a while anyway...

Yeah, Raceroom has some amazing audio work. Anthony Monteil and his team are masters.
Guys like Baysted (of SMS) and other audio devs from Codies have sung his praises.
I play RR for hours on end purely because of the awe inspiring audio that includes the best implementation of physical simulation of the driveline in the business.

Dave Sullivan of Codies also has done some tremendous work in Dirt Rally. From what I hear and been told from devs at Codies, the next Grid will also feature an amazing audio experience. On that note, the next pCars game is also shaping up to be an incredible experience too with a complete overhaul of audio and new tech to be implemented into the game :)

Long time friend of mine Mark Knight has been working at Codemasters (i did a few projects down the years actually for them) for years now on audio and music duties and know in the audio dept they really do pride themselves on delivering absolute quality...so i've no doubt the next Grid will be sumptuous...

Yep RaceRoom has some kick ass audio, Dave does an incredible job.

So next Grid game confirmed. I guess that's next years spring release to replace this years Dirt. Looking forward to the steps made on Pcars.

Raceroom is insane, sounds marvellous.
This is why it blows my mind that Anthony Monteil (the audio guy behind Raceroom) applied for a job at Polyphony Digital... and didn't get it. And that a music producer/songwriter did.

PD never heard of him, cuz you know they don't play other games. They hired the forza guy because they saw forza commercials on TV. /s

Huge upgrade in visuals. And to think i was down on Polyphony for a long time. They did a good job here.

Don't say all racing games, Forza 6 sound pretty damn good.

good.

Now people might actually try and learn a track.

Also, I think Driveclub has a good system witht he flags. They were really cool

If there is no offline campaign, are they even going to work on AI? Won't every driver be a person?

Is GT:Sport being designed with PSVR in mind? I know this would have severe impacts on what this game will achieve or be designed to do visually.

Anyway, Is GT:Sport truly a separate title from GT7, or will this title be a digital platform that will eventually expand in to a fully realized GT7?

I think a system with corner entry, apex, corner exit markers on the track sounds way better than anything any other racing game has done so far. Not only is it a better teaching tool than the driving line on how to approach a corner, it will also make people faster, because they have to look more on the track in all its width.

Now we need a iRacing-like delta-bar and a Codemaster/Forza'ish rewind function just for practice mode so you can train one corner over and over again.

Couldn't be bothered about the sound really, it's important for me, but not a game breaker. What is important is the handling feel you get with the controller. Dirt Rally was the best game ever regarding handling with the controller. I really felt totally in control.

There's Arcade Mode and driver training so I would have thought so.

I hope we can get really competitive A.I., something like tricking GT5 you are too powerful. That worked wonders.

Is that stuttering and screen tearing I'm seeing in that direct feed video? Not on the 30fps stuff, but I'm seeing it w/ the 60fps footage. God, I hope not and that it's just bad encoding. :(

The 30fps replay footage is insanely good, though.

Edit: That dithering on the trees too...

20 min video impressions from John Sabol of Inside Sim Racing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2DLMcApTrw
He says that game was fun but didn't like the gameplay and physics in the first E3 build, but after that he tested the latest build in PD office, it's physics was a lot better and he liked it and compare it to Assetto Corsa PS4.
Graphics are really really good in some aspects, but in some other aspects not so much. overall graphics are really good from interiors to tracks and cars, but AA and IQ...
Engine sounds are pretty good and much better than previous GTs, although they can be better. but those tire sounds again... :|
He complains about bumper cars and lack of damage too, but Kaz told him that final game will have damage.
In the end, he says GTS has great potential and after testing 2 builds, he thinks the game is going to be a really solid game for PS4 owners.

I love that they say there was such a difference in the game only 24 hours after he first played it. I'm also really impressed with him likening the newer handling to Assetto Corsa. :)

yup I think itll shape up really nicely. Even I notice the high screech on the tires lol...so hopefully that is updated and I just want more production cars and races added after release.

Once I see those improvements, pretty much a day one for me...excited about Gran Turismo man, it always make me feel like my PS is complete everytime a GT debuts.
