GT5 News - Nurburgring update (pre-E3 edition)

Remember GTHD Classic and Premium? What if it's that concept in GT5?:(
But Kaz said they scrapped that though. Kaz also got pretty upset when they asked him about DLC saying the game was already "complete" as it is.

No I mean what if some cars are "Classic" like upgraded GT4 models and some are "Premium" as in brand new

I think Premium cars will have cockpit, the Classic cars will have no cockpit.

But no one will want to drive the classic cars anyhow so it will hardly matter. 1000 cars with all cockpits sounds does not sound feasible.

He's specifically said that is what it is. There's really no confusion at all.
Well that's deflating. What's the percentage of premium to classic? That's seriously lazy, I've been defending them cause I assumed they were putting the same level of effort in across the board

Theres already over a 100 cars in prologue alone that have cockpits and quite a few shown since in various media.

I dont know what the 'premium' means but iam guessing that most cars will have cockpits.

That's a number we'll have to wait on. But you're going to likely have at least 200 or so Premium cars, which is more than enough obviously. Their Premium cars are ridiculously detailed as it is so as viper said, it's hard to imagine that they'd be able to model 1,000 cars at the level of the Premium models.

I'm sure pretty much all the 'important' cars will have cockpit. i.e. race cars and sport cars.

As for premium tracks, I hope this means these tracks will have day/night cycles and weather :P

Well that's what I assumed they were doing for almost five years with over 100 staff members and constant delays. Meh, disappointing

The thing about that is most casual players don't even get that far in the Gran Turismo campaigns and tool around in the lower levels

a lot of the cars in prologue were hardly what you would call 'important' yet had all the features of the full blown races cars anyway.

Iam hopeful that after 6 years of development that every car in the game has the same base feature set even if some have a greater damage intensity etc.

Yeah, but did you think that they were just working on car models? A big draw for GT5 is going to be whatever Kaz keeps talking about when he says that GT5 will be equivalent to GT1 in terms of advances the genre. And that wouldn't have anything to do with car models.

I thought premium cars were those with an improved damage model, i.e. race and rally cars which all have fully modelled interiors (not the cockpit, but the engine and so on.) This way premium cars can have interior damage happening during a race, with parts fully exposed if enough damage is sustained.

Non-premium cars have cockpit view and a basic damage model too, but internal parts are never shown.

Basically, from the outside premium and non-premium cars should be exactly at the same quality. It's only on the inside that there's a difference.

There are a lot of low spec cars in GT5 Prologue.

But most of these 'casual players' probably won't be able to tell the difference.

I'm having a hard time trying to understand "Premium" vs "Normal/Classic" cars thing.

Am I right saying...
- All cars will have cockpit view.
- All cars will have damage. (Visual Exterior + Functional) Like Forza 2/3.

-Premium cars will have advanced damage.
-Premium cars will have fully modeled interior.

???

I've honestly got no idea what the fuck premium or classic means myself but I'm assuming classic cars won't have cockpit view.

9 days to find out the truth though!

lol @ TG

... But DAMN, the track quality in that flyby is insane oO
And this comes from the fact that GT5 gives you an impression of scale.
One really feels that this track is huge. So you get the relation (a range)
between large and small, and as such a better sensation of flying-by.

That video also shows that GT5 definitely doesn't have any rubber banding going on. That's been a large topic of conversation in racing game threads lately. The person playing is able to get a very significant lead over the second place car. It's just too bad that they didn't select Pro AI instead of Beginner.

I have to LOL at you SSX, already damage controlling the remote posibility that the game could have GT4-quality models. Are you fucking kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me? If GT5 has that shit PD would become the embarrassment of the entire gaming industry, for me.

Note how The Ring has the 'Premium' subtitle. Now we have premium circuits too? What on earth does this all mean...?

...premium tracks now? :|

Polyphony desperately needs a community manager. Sony definitely needs to be a bit more hands-on on what PD is doing, as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed. All this ambiguity just serves to piss people off.

The new UI looks pretty good, but that's pretty much the only positive thing I gathered from the latest few videos. Aside from the newly improved Ring course, everything else is the same stuff we've been seing for like 6 months, or stuff that raises more questions than answers (sorta like a Lost episode).

So pointing out that's what it probably means is damaging controlling? If it happens then complain.

We've already seen simple, non important cars with cockpits. And we've probably seen a total of 200+ cars with cockpits. And we haven't seen a single car without cockpit. It's nuts to think not all cars are gonna have cockpits.

Right about now doesn't someone bring up the Fiat 500 cockpit picture? :P
Why not.

And that was way back from 2007. They've had enough time to do 1000 cockpits.

Kaz has specifically said that's what it is.

Well, that smiley alone should be enough to tell you that good news is coming. ;)

I'll take your word for it, since amar's smiley doesn't mean anything in this topic (since it's just an edit of a double post). :p

It looks like Playstation and GT5 (not just Gran Turismo) will be sponsoring the entire factory Peugot team. I would be very surprised if the car did not make it into the game.

In fact I have always been of the belief that GT's race car selection should center around the 24hrs of Le Mans and Nurburgring. Its the ultimate combination of Prototype, GT, and touring cars. Super GT is nice but only one part of the world watches it.

Logitech am disappoint

I'd like to think PD puts the "Premium" logo on everything just to mess with GAF/online community :P

Every time that word comes up in video and text form, message boards go crazy.

9 more days to go. I'm almost certain the whole premium debate wont be mentioned @ E3 so they'll still be post-E3 GAF/GTP meltdowns :lol

Obviously you can't tell what it is but it doesn't look like any sections from the tracks that we've seen so far.

My guess is Madrid. Something about that pic reminds me of that trailer that first revealed the track.

The fact that 908 race car has GRAN TURISMO 5 branded on the spoiler instead of the usual GRAN TURISMO we see on other cars, surely this means GT5 will actually get released this year?

I'd say the fact that Sony claimed at GDC that the game was finally gonna release this year was confirmation enough

Where do people get this stupid idea that GT5 will not have interiors for all cars and premium cars will be the only high detailed cars in the game? Do people even realise how stupid that sounds? I know people like to speculate but jesus that's borderline retarded.

Istanbul?
I know, it's not. :( Wishful thinking FTW! :lol

I can't remember an article or interview stating they were going to cut cockpits out of GT5. All we ever get is regurgitated crap from "journalists" who don't have a clue what Kaz means and make assumptions based on what they think he means with certain words or phrases.

Then we get people on forums claiming the most retarded ideas possible when nothing has been said officially based on the previous assumptions.

You can say PD is to blame for having not annoncing anything but jesus, they don't even have a release date so why would they announce features and details when they don't know if they will make the cut or not.

Hopefully the Pescarolo 908 from last year (pre-fireball) is in GT5 as well because I much prefer that car's livery.

I guess it probably costs Sony a lot more to get their name on the wing and fenders of a Peugeot than the entire body of a small team car :lol

Why are you trying to stir up old shit. This hasn't been an issue for quite a while.
