Because everyone feels the same way that you do.Never even heard of this guy before, even AFTER finishing the game. Just take the songs out if he's complaining. No one will miss them.

Lack of job will do that to you. It's slightly concerning how many fans of Grand Theft Auto do not understand the concepts of ownership and theft
"We will play two of your songs in front of 8 million gamers, most of which probably didn't even know you existed. And, of course, we're also paying you the standard fee."Joke post?
"We will make millions upon millions upon millions with our game. Here's a few thousand for your help!"
Yeah, no.
Never even heard of this guy before, even AFTER finishing the game. Just take the songs out if he's complaining. No one will miss them.
I want them in . I will miss them. What now?

Yeah, I agree. It's absolutely his call to decline any such offer. I just don't agree with the idea that this offer is low, let alone offensive."No thanks."
Who cares what his reasons were. If he had the rights to the music, it's his choice. If he wanted to go all J.D. Salinger and never let anyone have the rights to his stuff ever again, that's on him.
It's offensive given that it's after the fact.Yeah, I agree. It's absolutely his call to decline any such offer. I just don't agree with the idea that this offer is low, let alone offensive.

Honestly, who the fuck is anyone in this thread to tell Daz what he "should have done"? It doesn't matter AT ALL if the money was fair to you, or if he should be honored because its GTA and Rockstar. The fact is he said no, and they used it anyways. That's not legal or fair, everything else is irrelevant. If this story happened in any other media or with any other game we would all cry foul but because it our based GTA, guys an idiot? Fucking GAF sometimes.
I can't believe I'm reading shit like this.

I'm not saying he's in the wrong here--at all. R* is completely at fault for adding this guy's work into the game after he declined. I'm just saying from a promotional standpoint, it's in the rapper's best interest to have his tracks exposed to millions of people, especially since he's pretty much a nobody. He declined because the monetary offer wasn't enough, not that he had a problem associating his music with the game. I'm saying he's an idiot for not taking the offer, but I side with him regarding his music being used without permission
Patch it out.
They took someone's music without their constant, sold it as part of the game package for several weeks & then "patching" them out & only for people who will update the game will fix all this?
Are people really this dim?
Oh wait, twitter generation, of course they are.
oh the irony !
last week everyone was praising R* for the level of detail & everything else about GTA5 & now because some has-been rapper had his track licensed by 'his people' for the R* set amount everyone is slating R*
aww the poor artist (who fritted his money away) there are plenty or singers & groups that would love to have their music in a GTA game, just patch the track out & replace it with another track, nobody will miss the track anyway, this guy is just trying to get a extension to his famous for five minutes.
how the worm has turned, with everyone hating R* .

Are you seriously trying to get back into this discussion? you got shot down pages ago...maybe time to pack it in there bud.
I really don't see why everyone is so upset about this, anyone here who is & has a copy of GTA5 why not send Daz a dollar ?
Post a link that says categorically that Daz owns all the rights 100% outright to the tracks used in GTA5, because if you care to do some investigating the tracks the copyright claimants for one of the songs are initially: High Priest Publishing, Famous Music Corporation, Suge Publishing, Real n Ruff Muzik & Emonis Music, yes Daz did co-write the tracks but that doesn't mean he owns them.
Michael Jackson used to own the Beatles tracks in the USA & thats why he & Paul McCartney fell out, Paul said he would never perform a Beatles track on the USA because if he did he would have to pay Jackson to do so.

No one knows who owns what yet that's what we are waiting to hear about. You don't know why he's upset? If he in fact owns the rights to these songs they were STOLEN. What part of this do you not understand?

hmm
why are half the people here saying that "R* stole Daz's music & should pay him a fair amount" & the other half (which i am a member of) is saying "do you really think R* do not know what they are doing, every GTA they have the same thing happen with licensing"
Daz was in a group when he co-wrote the tracks so any number of people could hold the rights to the tracks, from what i have read is that R* only offer a set amount of money & its take it or leave it, would R* really be so desperate to use these tracks they would do so without getting the relevant licenses ?
there is a lot of members attacking one another here & its not nice, it just seems to have exploded with people jumping up & down talling R* to pay him $5m or whatever it was & others saying who cares.
if R* did not get a license then they will just pay the set amount, if he says that he values his music at $5m thats his own personal opinion & R* use a set amount to stop people demanding silly amounts.

well the reason why I was personally offended by your comments was you trying to downplay his fame when you clearly have no idea what he has done as a artist and producer. "he's a nobody" just goes to show that you have no idea what your talking about.

All that we know is that Rockstar consulted Daz with a price, Daz didn't like the price, and apparently his music was used any way.
Now, if this all is 100% how Daz claims the story happened, Rockstar fucked up.
Also...
Regardless if he was in a group or not at the inception of the music he is speaking of, does he not (as well as everyone else in the game who has lent their music) deserve a "fair amount" of compensation for his music?hmm

Edit: WTF is going on with these broken quote tags? lol

if you are Daz then i apologize, if you're not then you need to chill.
if R* took his music without a license then they took it, i'm not going to lose any sleep over it & neither will you.
people just need to calm down.

who decides on a fair amount ?
if Daz had said he wanted $5m should R* of paid that amount & then when R* went to Dr Dre & he said well Daz got $5m i want $6m should he get it to, where would it end ?
time & again people who have had their voices & music used have then complained & wanted more money after release because they did not know how big it would be, this is why R* now use none famous people for voices & only pay a set fee for music.
what happened to innocent until proven guilty, everyone saying that R* has stolen the tracks are making slanderous comments are they not ?

Probably more like "awww poor Rockstar". They probably have more money than Daz will see in his lifetime (okay, that may be a stretch but it's not beyond reason) and they can't compensate him?oh the irony !
