People interested in the stories in GTA games should check out the show Burn Notice. It's basically GTA: The TV Show.
huhWOW.
I'm still not surprised at all. I kept thinking October at the earliest, or maybe even later. In the same way they had released previous GTAs in October.
Their games are much bigger. They clearly don't care about communicating when/what progress is being made. I kind of love that- it leaves everyone on edge.
I'm thinking maybe a simultaneous PC/next gen consoles launch, about 6 months after the normal launch.I see where you are coming from but GTA 3 (obviously) wasn't released on a system that was old. GTA 3 was released during the early part of the gen. GTA San Andreas was the last GTA game last gen but even that didn't come out so close to the upcoming gen as GTA 5 is now.
But anyway, yeah, I also wouldn't say that an improved GTA 5 would come out at the time that next gen launches.
I could see an improved version for next gen consoles in the first half of 2014.
Lol, GTAForums dramatic reading, basically.
A lot of your guys' reactions are hilarious. So you want to play a buggy and poorly optimized GTA again this generation? Another plus besides a better performing game is we get to play a lot other releases before GTA V, helps us and our wallets.
Some of you want an apology? Are you fucking kidding me? Do you think us fans should tell the programmers and testers that work 16 or 18 hour shifts to work harder?
I think most people here are fine with the delay itself, just disappointed they won't get to play the game for another 8 months.A lot of your guys' reactions are hilarious. Again, who is (in this thread) against the delay itself?Every june, a new Just Dance is announced. Four or five months after, the game is released. All in time, the schedule is met without any problem.
I think some people are missing the big picture here. Rockstar is trying to make one of the most ambitious games ever, you can´t blame them for that.
Do you really think that they are happy with this delay? Of course not. In fact, this delay will hurt them in many levels; consumers confidence, confidence of the shareholders and even in their future contractual relations with Take two. This decision is hurting everyone; fans, Rockstar and Take two. Nobody wins.
Definitely, this delay is not for free. They must have very good reasons to do it.

Those fat kid videos are fake. Y'all a bunch of marks.

Just Cause 2's lifetime sales are around 2m. GTA4 sold 3.6m in one day. If any open world title were to take down GTA, then it would likely come from Rockstar. They're responsible for the second best selling open world game (RDR), which is at 13m, and that's still far away from GTAIV's rumored 25m sales.
Unless GTAV is a terrible game, then GTA will still be king by the time VI comes around. And i'm talking genuinely terrible.

At least something good came out of this.
To be fair, if you're a GTA fan, your interests don't necessarily overlap with an extremely linear, poorly-written, more-cutscene-than-gameplay video game.
Oh yeh cause JC is the only open world game out there.....
I just hoping RS get some full on competition between now and VI that's all. It would be so much better than for us, especially seeing as the GTA series has never had any proper rivals, would be nice to see how RS handle that.....
go on GTAForums.com, GTAV section.
You'll see the same exact reactions from a lot of people.
That's not real. Who would post a video of himself crying and name it "fat kid cries over gta 5 release date". He just wants hits. The best part is when he's rummaging through his games and you see the SAW videogames.
No one should ever go there. It rivals the Bioware forums' insanity.
I expect a cross gen game. They wouldn't move it to next gen completely due to having no base but it wouldn't hurt to put a better running version out on those.
Does CoD still have the same steam as it did when MW2 was released? Maybe even WaW? I stopped after Blops. And Madden? I like Madden but I had no idea it was even in competition with these titles.People are really overestimating the popularity of GTA. If this was 2003, then this would be the biggest release of the year and blow away anything else. In 2013, not so much. This is still a massive brand, but it has really lost a lot of steam this gen. Releasing this within two months of the next CoD, Madden, and possibly next gen consoles is pretty risky. I was on the fence about buying the game when it was slated for a spring 2013 release, now I probably won't even bother.

I think the most successful non R* open world game, currently, is Saint's Row (sitting at around 6m, i think)though with it changing hands and all that jazz, its future is not certain.
What other titles are there?
Mafia 2 didn't do too hot.
Sleeping Dogs neither.
Just Cause 2 did good, but not as good.
I can't think of any other major open world action game that's really relevant, as of now.

GTA 4 has sold over 25 million copies and is only rivaled by the CODs on the HD consoles this generation.
It stayed near the top of the xbox live charts for years too which is really impressive.
CoD only gained more popularity after MW2. And I'm not saying GTA is in competition with these titles, but I would say the CoD audience does overlap with the GTA crowd. Anyways my point was people only have so much time they can dedicate to gaming, and this fall is getting crowded.

Yes and they'll most likely dedicate their time to GTA V. If I remember correctly, the online numbers for GTA IV rivaled COD games.
Were there games like this last gen; AAA titles that released a month or two before the next gen?
I highly doubt this is being ported to next Gen. next Gen consoles won't release until November at the earliest, and it'd take too much time away from development.
