GTA VI delayed to November 19 2026

I'm guessing Jan/Feb 2027

This just went from being my summer break game to my Christmas break game. 🤷‍♂️. Well, more playing through my backlog.

An oracle once said the likelihood of GTA VI coming with a new Xbox is there.
There are two possible outcomes. This is the last delay and it launches when Xbox is even more irrelevant.... It delays into the next gen launch window and gives a modest but welcome bump to new Xbox sales for those willing to pay, and it gives a massive boost to PS6 launch sales. The modest bump assumes no PC port and it runs in a boosted back compat mode of some sort. If they manage a simultaneous PC release, now that would be interesting (but still only a modest bump for Xbox albeit a bit bigger).

We all knew it was going to be delayed. I think 2026 is still too hopeful, see you in 2027.
When they said "next summer" I knew it was going to be even later than that, but I still thought it would be in the fall, not in the winter.

How R* can take the sting out:

- A GTA VI Trailer #3 by end of November

- Shadow drop RDR2 Remastered in December

- Release GTA IV Remastered in place of GTA VI's prior release date around May '26

- Drop Gameplay Demo #1 & #2 in Q3 '26

- Launch Trailer & Online preview early Nov '26.

- Actually launch on 19th Nov '26

- Deliver a paradigm shift

- 40fps Mode

So pc and next gen versions might launch the same time.

Yeah I might just pick this up on ps6 if it does actually end up coming in 2027.

Still though...

Last May they delayed it and basically said they needed a full year, but they felt good about giving it a concrete date., and now they delay it again for six more months. TF is going on there.
Either R* is putting in genuine effort to release something special or development has been such a shitshow that they are scrambling to staple together a product they can ship.
I'm hoping its the former but considering the total garbage released by AAA devs this gen, I wouldn't be suprised if it was the latter.

If the GTA VI launch beats the GTA V launch by 10% it will crash the industry. Anything less than a Wii-like event is killshot for Western AAA

If they fired leads it probably fucked with deadlines a lot hence the delay.

Why do pc players think they're owed everything on day 1? More platforms also increase development time and just pushes the date even further away. The longer it's delayed for you guys also means that the rest of us can play the online component without the usual cheating bollocks that your wonderful platform brings to the party.
Two things:

First. There was a time and place where this bullshit excuse of added development time to "port" a game to PC made sense. This was when consoles were actually unique pieces of hardware not basic bitch x86 architecture PCs with shitty firmware. Hell in the case of Xbox it's literally a flavor of Windows and DirectX that these games are made to run on. There is absolutely no excuse why a game might only be released on Xbox (and PlayStation) but not PC at the same time other than greed from the publisher/studio to incentivize double dipping from PC players. It's a corrupt money grubbing tactic that by this point in Rockstar's history has no further plausible deniability towards. They know what they're doing and wearing it on their sleeve clear as day. Fuck them.

Second. I genuinely agree that it's fucked for PC players to cheat and ruin the online experience for console users. I have long since hated the idea of cross platform if only for this one reason. Console multiplayer spaces is one of the only places you can get a pure game driven experience free from modders and cheaters. You won't hear me defending what these assholes get up to and how it majorly sucks that it's spilling over into console spaces.

Ultimately the game WILL come to PC and at a far later date than it has any justification to. If shitty devs like Ubisoft, EA, etc can simultaneously release their games on console and PCs, there is no reason Rockstar can't from a technology and backend standpoint do the same thing. It's a business decision and any defense of that business decision should be met with great ridicule and scrutiny.

Side note: Rockstar being cunts to their staff:

This sort of shit might fly in America, but not the UK, we actually have employment rights.

Hopefully affected staff sue.

Because consoles are now just PCs with walled OS

This is not PS2 emotion engine days with programmable VUs or PS3's cell.

"....All our ambition was to make R* a happier, fairer, safer and more equitable place..."
Yeah I'm with team R* on this one.

Ouf, that looks dire. You don't want to read "Morale in the studio is at rock bottom" and senior leads fired with a year left to go in the project :messenger_hushed:

Might as well make it PS6 launch title at this point and make it 60fps dynamic resolution with PSSR or w/e new gimmick Sony has

All I know is, R* with taking so long has people having really high expectations, this is not the same R* from previous entries so, even though it's GTA and I'm still in for Day 1, I have reservations about it actually being a hit! It really needs to be almost perfect for it to be acceptable it has taken so long to develop. I have this feeling, it's going to be rated highly and issues will be glossed over where any other game would've received much higher criticism for the same thing.

I admit I like what I have seen so far but I worry that without somebody like Dan Houser who has obvious passion about what he created it won't have the same soul.

Because it's an honest question. It feels like everyone wants this thing but me?
First gta6 trailer got 268m views, second already 137m, and we talking official rockstar yt channel vids, gta5 sold by now 215m units, nuff said?
GTA6 gonna be one in a generation phenomenon, with hundreds of milions of players enjoying it ;)
