GTA4 in the wild - first gameplay videos

Ha, when I was watching the feeds yesterday, I just created a text document, gave it an .html file extension and dropped the embedded tags into the file. In theory, you could watch more than one at a time on the same page and you don't have to see the stupid chat comments.

The best carjacking vid I've seen from a Live feed was one where Niko dragged the guy out the car, but didn't see the passenger because of the tinted windows. So he's fighting the driver and the door swings open and the other guy runs around the car to get into the fight. For some reason, he punches the driver in the face and they start going at it. So the player backs off and watches the passenger beat the hell out of the driver.

After he knocks him out, the passenger says, "Fuck you. I didn't like you anyway"

One of the beautiful things about GTA is how many different ways there are to play each little piece.

That vid opens up with
Niko calling someone on the phone to schedule a meeting
, and leaves the player with a very simple objective - get to waypoint X before time Y.

The player proceeds to carjack the first vehicle they see, immediately getting into a high-speed chase with a police officer. After miraculously evading him (by jumping the car off an elevated highway), he immediately rams another police car. A chase ensues, ultimately leading to the player rolling the vehicle (which amusingly spins slowly like a top due to rotational inertia). The player is ultimately apprehended (slain) by the police and misses the appointment (presumably generating negative "faction" as a result).

I like that it's non-trivial to do something so simple as getting across town, and that the shortest route (jacking the nearest car you see) actually has negative consequences.

That is hilarious. It's like the game just created a little back story for 2 completely insignificant NPC dynamically.

The live feed yesterday had the guy punching some random dude and the cops show up. He's standing right next to the police car and right when the two cops get out he just gets right in and zooms off.

booo, I loved that stream, even though he always died due to hitting police and trying to fight 2 stars with one pistol. :(

Ouch, if he got GTA4 he should rent a xbox 360 until that one is shipped back to him. If he don't and this is some stupid joke, boo.

You know what would be funny? If someone's xbox mess up on them where they can't get the disk out, and they have a pirated GTA4 in it. They won't be able to send it in to Microsoft.

From watching those live feeds and a few youtube videos, it doesnt seem like there are alot of pedestrians around. I just saw sculay's feed and he was right in the middle of Star Junction and I only saw a hot dog vendor and a few people around.
