Seeing as the Rock Band 2 Strat is essentially the same as the first (strum bar wise) based on the posts in that thread, I'm probably just going to get the 99.99 Guitar bundle for this and use that + my Xplorer for this and Rock Band 2, with Rock Band being my main platform.

The RB2 guitar's strum bar is most definitely improved over the RB1 model. I hated the RB1 model's strum bar, but kind of like the RB2 strum bar. But I still prefer the Guitar Hero clicky strum bars, so can't fault you for wanting the GH bundle.

Are the RB2 fret buttons any better? RB1's were utter cack.

Hope the GHIV guitar is a bit more durable than the GH3 one, had to fix/replace mine about 4 times and now it screws up every few weeks. I have actually been using my GH2 guitar for some time now.

They are definitely less clicky, but it's still hit or miss. I had a sunburst RB2 guitar for a while and it was less clicky than my RB1 guitar. But the RB bundled non sunburst guitar I just got was just as clicky as the RB1 guitar. I just exchanged it at best buy for another bundle and this one is better.

The wide range in QA with these things amaze me, not in a good way.

The whammy on the Xplorer is awful though. And I hate the frets.

I've been pretty lucky with my Les Pauls. Most problems are fixed with paper down the neck.

I tried that but It didn't do me any favours, might try it again at some point. I even took it apart and hardwired the connections at the base of the neck because I assumed it was the spring loaded contacts getting stuck.

The GH2 controller isn't anywhere near as good, but it's wired and doesn't have a detachable neck, and is therefore very reliable.

Heads up, gang: it would appear that, at least at launch, the full band bundles will be in *extremely* limited supply. At Best Buy, employees actually have to follow a two-week moratorium on purchasing the full band bundle just so we can try and fill pre-orders over that period. The Wii version especially got dinged pretty bad with our initial shipment quantities. If I were you guys, I would definitely try and pay your band bundles off ASAP and try to attend midnight openings if you can get to them. Also, I can definitely confirm no separate instruments will be available for sale at launch, with no ETA planned (likely will end up being sold some time in the spring)....but there will be extra drumsticks and guitar decorations!

technically there is a guitar bundle for GHWT that is being sold. so there will be seperate instruments at launch. (just not the drums) :P

the strat 2 is basically the strat 1. ya, the frets feel a bit nicer (same spacing and all that jazz). and there is a tiny bit of a "click" to strum bar and a little less dead space. and an elevated thing around the start button. and the auto-calibration.

but, it's basically the same thing. it feels incredibly similar to the strat 1. You may not even notice the difference unless you use the strat as your main guitar.

nah dude I think I will keep a steady pace of playing GHWT. they have coldplay and misery buisness after all!!!!

I will be waiting man. are you getting the metallica album as well?

Ah damnit. I'll scrounge up some money and go to my Gamestop, see what can be done.

I was planning on getting it on Wii, too. :(

At Score Hero a dude claims to have seen a reference at hub.guitarhero.com to a Neversoft Track Pack, with "Anything" by Endless Sporadic mentioned. They did Impulse, one of the best GH3 tracks, so yay if it happens. I can't get the page to load to know either way.

I got it to load and I see the Endless Sporadic song right there. Interestingly, it looks like that new DLC announcements can be delivered via RSS feed, but that's not working right now.

An Endless Sporadic is wicked sick. "Sun of Pearl" is probably the only thing that made Tony Hawks American Wasteland unique.

So the site loads, pretty cool. Here it implies you'll be able to listen to people's GH Tunes stuff online. Presumably only the top rated stuff, but that's something.

May be worth putting a link to the site in the OP, seeing as it'll apparently list the DLC too (eventually).

Also, Hyperspeed is still a cheat code. You can use it without it fucking up your progress, but really. Come the fuck on, Neversoft. You don't treat it like a cheat, stop requiring it to be unlocked. If I can't set it as default I'm gonna kill somebody.

This generally works with ladies as well.

Yeah, it's a shame. Buy American next time ;)

Hell no. Microsoft cannot go out of business fast enough for my tastes... and I actually own (a completely trivial amount of) stock in them!

Anyone know whats's up with Wii and DLC? Everytime I see a pressrelease, it only seems to mention 360 and PS3..

It will have DLC. There's a system in place to be able to put songs on SD cards and then load them into memory and such. It's all very... well, it's because Nintendo really needs to get on the ball. I love Nintendo, but they've been dropping the ball in recent years when it comes to new technologies like storage space and Internet access. The only thing they seem to get is that vague waggling and a crapflood of terrible games (the DS too is almost completely overrun with shite) is apparently making them a ton of money.

Yeah all the shit third party games on the Wii is Nintendo's fault.

I'm going to email my Activision rep tomorrow and see if we can't settle the DLC once and for all.

WTF? I wanted to know if someone knew something specific about the Wii DLC (same songs/release schemes as the other two consoles or not), not a rant about waggle and Nintendo.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not :(

The 360 being far and away the best system available this generation makes it kinda hard for me to not encourage people to buy their products. Also; Zune rocks. Get Vista.

From what I've read the Wii version won't get song packs. Only single tracks. But this is just from a bunch of posts on Score Hero (which I'm forced to visit around these times) so I'm not 100%.

Kinda sad to see a track by The Mars Volta in there, even more so because its the cut down single version. I blame the record label.

Still it should be very amusing watching drunken kids trying to sing in Spanish as they fondle a plastic guitar.

I didnt know you could seperate the drum kit to put it on a table. Pretty slick.

So, anyone who's played a preview (or Rock Band for that matter)...

How much fun are the drums? I used to play drums in a couple of bands in the late 80's-early 90's, so I'm naturally drawn to them. But there's quite a price difference from the guitar bundle to the full band set.

Anyone who's played a real kit have an opinion on the fun factor on the GH/RB kit?

Is GHWT really a platform?

This isnt' a troll, I haven't been keeping up on DLC news. I don't think I can afford two games with weekly DLC

my GH:WT bundle was finally paid off in full at my EB yesterday. i got my pre-order in pretty much day one. a few other guys i work with missed the window of opportunity to pre-order (i believe it went out of the system at least a week ago at EB/Gamestop) and are pretty pissed about it but what can you do.

just glad i got myself sorted out.

and of course it's a platform. the music creation/sharing part makes it a platform ignoring any DLC to follow.

DLC is (apparently) forward compatible, and more frequent. Does that a platform make? I don't know. It's a buzz word with no meaning.

Not really, it was just a cheeky joke on the Rock Band thread title.

The drums are great. The cymbals add a lot.

I'm going to try this again... does the Wii version GH3 guitar work with GH4 or not? I read that it would not, but it didn't sound 100% accurate info either, so I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure. This makes or breaks the deal with GH4 for me, as I'm not going to buy 2 more guitars just for this game if the old ones don't work.
