Gun Rights Group to Stage Mock Mass Shooting at UT

Reminds me of this staged drunk driving accident thing that was acted out live before prom so we wouldn't drink and drive. Looking back on that, it was pretty disgusting .. Probably a better way to explain these kind of things.

Of course he'd be wearing a fedora...

Wait so are the people who are getting shot actors portraying crisis actors, or are they crisis actors playing actors playing crisis actors?

The new campus carry law, which goes into effect in August, will allow people with concealed weapons permits to carry their handguns into dorms, classrooms and other public university buildings

Hahahahaha

but why

why do you need to be carrying a gun during a University lecture?

Oh fuck these stupid assholes right in the ass. I hope UT is able to keep these idiots off campus. I work in higher ed and everyone in my department today have been bitching about this. There is no god damned reason you need your fucking gun on campus.

“We want criminals to fear the public being armed,” Short said. “An armed society is a polite society.”
Yes, because a polite society involves everyone always being capable of instantly ending lives - whether intentionally or unintentionally - at any time.

Of course.

Worse than that, having guns in dorms is a FUCKING TERRIBLE IDEA.

If I had a nickle for every stupid stunt I saw pulled in our dorm, I'd be Trump.

I'm imagining lots of drunkos spinning their pistols like cowboys trying to impress other drunkos.

Weird because I'd rather be insulted by an unarmed man than shot by an armed man.

I've always hated that quote because it suggests that you're only polite because you're afraid of being shot for being rude. I'd much rather put up with a little rudeness every now and then than have to worry about some asshole drawing on me for making a sarcastic comment. It's fucking ridiculous.

University of Texas students don't need guns. They could break the president in two...

WITH THEIR BARE HANDS!!!

They don't have a Campus PD?

I hope that one day I wake up and the majority of americans dont believe they can shoot their way out of any situation.

I could bring up so many examples of how an armed person may either shoot and kill an unintended target and/or get their gun taken away from them and then lose their advantage.

There is a very small window of opportunity where a gun owner has an advantage and that include them having a loaded weapon near them at all times which can be extremely unsafe.

Just kind of sick of this grandiose idea that guns automatically make your home and person extra safe at all times.

“We love freedom and we’re trying to make more freedom,” he said.

The Onion couldn't something more surreal. Amazing.

Becoming an action hero is an effective means to deter terrorism. Just gotta make sure you have your witty one liners ready.

This sort of thing demonstrates exactly whats wrong with the mindset of these groups. No one schedules actual mass shootings. Its always their argument wouldn't you like to have a gun if x happened. And usually, the answer is yes, i would.

If there was an armed maniac running around killing people, i would definitely like to have a gun to stop at least discourage him. But in order to have a gun for the occasional situation , i have to have a gun around at all other times, including most

Someone at UT should perform a mock armed road rage incident, or mock armed walking in on your wife/girlfriend cheating on you, or a mock armed getting drunk because Im super depressed I lost my job and am about to become homeless as protest, to show all the times having a gun around could be harmful.

Seems rather insensitive given the campus' history.

This in particular. Protesting about it is one thing, and staging something like that invites something incredibly stupid to happen, but it's also incredibly insensitive to history there.

Someone completed the trifecta.

After the Charlie Hebdo attack, some Gun rights group did a simulation of what would have happened if the victims were armed.

If I recall correctly the "heroes" were quickly killed in every variant of the scenario.

The only thing funnier than the result is the mental hoops they jumped through afterward:

“I still got killed but I did better than I thought I would,” volunteer Parks Matthew told a local CBS affiliate.

“If I’m in a movie theater and someone pulls a gun, what am I going to do?

“I know now I’m not gonna just fall on my kids and protect them. I need to advance on the threat.”
