H1Z1 | LiveStream | 4PM PST

Yeah seems like they aren't going the twitch route from what the devs mentioned. Still, interaction with console players would be rather slow and tedious, something I wouldn't want in a game about tactical survival. That advantage is pretty easy to see just by comparing console and PC gameplay, and we already know folks like Microsoft tested it and found it to be far too hard on console players.

HOLY SHIT YOU CAN BURN PEOPLE, 10/10!

DS4 has the touchpad, they can probably do some clever UI stuff with that. Maybe.

Missed frst 30min because internet was just gone but what i see now looks really good. The engine really looks so much better than dayz and that with way more peoples at the end :O

uat
This looks good? Are you serious? :O
In the day time is unbareable to watch

So, we didnt get any new information from this stream except for seeing how it looks in 'direct-feed' ...

they have already been extremely open with answering questions

The most they could do was show what they have (shooting, driving, zombies)

SOE is pretty cool when you think about it.

They bring us some classic PC games such as Everquest, Planetside, and H1Z1.

Then they port them to console, everyone is happy.

They definitely have a huge advantage over DayZ considering that they don't have to deal with a terrible engine like Arma's. I think it's a matter of what design choices that's gonna make or break this game. Haven't heard enough about that yet to really say much about that. For DayZ it's pretty much the opposite for me. What they've said they want to achieve with the game has gotten me really excited, but the engine is a huge mess so we'll see if they can reach their goals.

They've already mentioned that early access will be more about finding out what will be fun in the game, whereas beta will be more about finding and fixing bugs.

Even with that short bit, i'm excited. Already has more going for it than DayZ.

-Engine is much better.
-Zombies seem like a huge threat.
-Day and night cycle where night is incredibly dark and creepy.
-Crafting and the ability to make many various items and buildings.
-Better melee and gunplay.
-Vehicles.
-Explosions.
-Setting people on fire. lol.

Port not confirmed. Considering they haven't even considered controller support, a port is wishful thinking atm.

they cant confirmed it if they doesnt know how complex it will be. Did they announced Landmark for Ps4? Because i cant imagine to use the really complex building tools with a pad.
And H1Z1 is easily one year in beta, maybe even 1,5-2years and i dont believe they release a Beta on Ps4.

Outside of a "better engine" all of this is planned for Dayz.

Yeah I love DayZ but this already looks a smoother and more polished game. Early access here I come!

And will probably run better if PS2 and EQ Landmark are anything to go by. Excited.

DayZ crawls into the teens even without all the sliders maxed on a 3930k and 780ti.

Yeah tell me about it, I only have a 2600K but an overcloked 780ti and still get ridiculous stuttering in DayZ especially in towns.

This looks promising. The night especially looked great!

yeah just like all they other shit they have 'planned' and we haven't seen yet. Those guys need basics such as gameplay done. You have to press like 10 different buttons just to equipt a weapon in that game and combat and movement is janky as fuck.

You won't be seeing a PlayStation 4 port until they know the game is stable enough. I don't even think we've yet to see an alpha/beta title appear on consoles, the patching would be a nightmare to say the least.

I'm excited to see what H1Z1 offers, at the very least it can push DayZ to be better but I doubt it with how Bohemia's development team are doing right now (and with Rocket leaving at the end of the year). From what they showed today, it seems alright, looks nice and is responsive enough that it could be worth a purchase in Early Access.

I can understand people being weary about Early Access builds, hell I'm rather tired of them myself. Not because they are buggy, but rather I get burnt out before the game is even out, making me not want to play it. On the flipside, just look at DayZ and its mod, I have played over 1,000 hours between those two and have loved every moment of it. I half expect the same from this simply because its survival, and while it may be buggy and early access, you can still have a lot of fun.

Found a summary on reddit that confirms PS4 port:

http://www.reddit.com/r/h1z1/comments/22nr99/what_weve_learned_now/

PC first, PS4 later. "Well, we are Sony" when asked about the PS4 version.

  • In terms of cross-platform play, Planetside 2 will not be doing cross platform due to the logistics of updating the game on the PS4 vs the PC. I expect that this has not changed so I don't see cross-platform play happening. SOE has made no comment on this point however, so I could be talking out of my ass.

No cross-platform play. Bummer.

The most they could do was show what they have (shooting, driving, zombies)

Or they could talk about game mechanics.

How damage states works, how zombies spawns, how can You take over a zone, how people will be connecting to a world to play together and how will be finding themselves, how will they handle hackers when all You need to do to get back into the game is to make a new account, what kind of moves and animations will be supported for gameplay, like will be there ladder, ability to climb, ability to prone and move in prone, ability to shoot behind cover, what end game are they planning, will zombies have different forms, etc

We know nothing right now except that You can build some items, basic buildings and vehicles, shoot/melee zombies and other people and server is persistent with day/night cycle and weather. Oh and that there will be FoV setting ...

Also lack of leveling/perks is terrible decision for both this game and DayZ. Making specialization skills that level in similar way as in Elder Scroll for example, so by using some items for long enough period etc, would force cooperation and people would be more cautious about avatar's lives.

Amazing!

And how much of it will be there in four weeks?

What's in 4 weeks? Are you dying soon?

yeah just like all they other shit they have 'planned' and we haven't seen yet. Those guys need basics such as gameplay done. You have to press like 10 different buttons just to equipt a weapon in that game and combat and movement is janky as fuck.

You drag and drop the item on yourself to equip it, not click 10 buttons. The game is early alpha what do you expect?

Excellent foundation, huge possibilities.

From the sounds of it game play changes, improvements and features will come rapidly.

Enhanced graphics closer to final release.

H1Z1 is planned as a MMO thats why is already winning over DayZ for me. Building towns and other stuff makes alot more sense in a persistence World with thousands of players. And they are devs with a hugh amount of experience in the MMO genre :)
